Apparatus for and method of compensating dynamic unbalance

    Get PDF
An apparatus to stabilize a fine platform that carries a parabolic reflecting dish, utilized in connection with the large aperture, multichannel microwave radiometer, is discussed. It provides compensation for dynamic unbalance imparted to a fixed body by a shaft about which the rotating body rotates. Force components exerted on the fixed body by the rotating body in a plane at right angles to the axis are determined. In response to the determined force components, the rotational speed and effective direction of mass means mounted on the rotating body are controlled. The mass means has an effective axis of rotation in a plane at right angles to the longitudinal axis

Rooting Art-Based Interdisciplinary Practice; Collaborations Among Architects, Designers, and Artists in Croatian Architecture of the 1960s and 1970s

    Get PDF
During the 1960s and 1970s, interdisciplinary collaborations among architects, designers, and artists represented an important aspect of Croatian architecture. This paper examines the institutional frameworks and conditions that facilitated such integrative practices. It recognizes the key participants and underscores a change in the underlying motives and other contributing factors for their collaborations across the decades. The paper also classifies the predominant building types resulting from such collaborations and prevalent social and political ambitions. Specific examples, such as institutional buildings, tourist facilities, and commercial buildings, illustrate the outcomes of these interdisciplinary endeavours. The analysis offers insights into the underlying factors and significance of these collaborations in shaping Croatian architectural practices during this period

Percent for Art in Building Investment Projects; Initiatives and Ordinances in the Second Half of the 20th Century in Croatia and Worldwide

This article explores percent for art ordinances in the second half of the 20th century. Various versions of such ordinances were introduced in Europe and the USA. In the former Yugoslavia, however, there was just a non-binding Recommendation which never turned into a legal regulation. This article analyses the Recommendation and its reception in professional circles. In addition, it gives an overview of other formal ways of art funding policy including professional initiatives designed to forge stronger bonds between art and architecture

    Experiencing Architectural Drawing; Vladimir Brezar

    Get PDF
Conceptual drawing still remains an elementary tool of an architect in spite of all modern technical instruments and technology. Computer drawing will never substitute the elementary and intuitive connection between the eye, the brain and the hand. The greatest significance of the book is that it contains over one hundred drawings, all made by the author, during his long-lasting experience as an architect, ranging from field sketches of existing buildings and ambiences to representative and technical drawings. One could perhaps feel a certain kind of nostalgia for the past and the author’s worry about the hand drawing falling into oblivion. The presumption could be that the author’s intention was to offer an inspiration for the development of drawing skills through which one can gain a new perspective of the environment and an insight into one’s personal inner world.
