    Problems and Prospects of Telecommunication Sector of Bangladesh: A Critical Review

    Communication is an integral part of human life. From the very beginning of human civilization people were tried to communicate each others to fulfill their social needs. Over the passes of time though the tools of communication were changed but still it is exist in the society. Currently cellular phone has brought a revolution in the field of communication. Telecommunication makes the whole world in a small village and by using this service life become more comfortable and easier. This sector plays a vital role in the economy of Bangladesh occupying the top positions among others. But recently this sector faces some crisis related to governmental SIM tax, corporate tax and also the competition in the market. For these reasons, last few years both governmental revenue as well as the growth rate of subscribers is decreasing. If the Government take necessary steps beside the privatization, the sector could move forward quickly, which will also help Government to generate the revenues and create job opportunity.Keeping all these issues in consideration, this paper discusses the present condition of the telecommunication sector of Bangladesh  (which give special emphasis on the cellular phone) , what are the major challenges faces by the operators, and also tries to find out the prospects of this sector. It also provides a set of recommendations based on this analysis. The study is explanatory in nature which is based on extensive literature review and secondary data sources.     Problems and Possibilities of Good Governance in Bangladesh: Hurdles to Achieve Sustainable Development

    Considering Bangladesh's history of tumultuous politics, the country is gradually improving in terms of political stability and governance. Unfortunately, development has not been stable, mainly due to political will and commitment. Democracy and governance in Bangladesh, still plagued by violence, corruption, outdated laws, abuse of human rights, absence of rule of law, non accountability, and heavy politicization of all government institutions including the judicial system. It is observed that we need strong political leadership with commitment to fight against deep rooted corruption, non accountability, non transparency and inefficiency is imperative for establishing good governance and to ensure sustainable development. Keeping all these issues in consideration, this research paper discusses governance and good governance related issues and sustainable development.     Difficulties and Possibilities of Implementing E-governance in Bangladesh: A Critical Assessment for Justifiable Progress

    E-governance is a much talk issue in the present days or even last two decade as a policy to removing corruption, ensuing involvement of mass people, providing eminence and smooth service at minimum costs, ensuring transparent and pro-people administration, improve government efficiency and better service and also for the accountability of government. Though, Bangladesh government took the initiative to appliance e-governance for last two decades but the implementation of e-Governance in Bangladesh is not up to the a remarkable till today and the government is not getting the full benefits of e-Governance yet for many reasons.This paper attempts to discover the activities and achievements of e-governance in Bangladesh as well as identify the obstacles and also propose some counteractive actions to implement e-governance. The observation result indicates that the main obstacles arise from the government policy, inadequate skilled and well-trained human resource, insufficient fund, lack of strategic plan, social and educational background of the nation, and many more. But the situation can be changed by taking necessary steps like political consensus, development of human resource, ICT penetration, and taking proper long-term plan implementing e-government in Bangladesh. After this, the paper suggests some ways to overcome the present situation and bringing it in the expected level of the implementation of e-governance in Bangladesh.     MANAGING HUMAN RESOURCE THROUGH GREEN POLICY: WAYS OUT AND ITS IMPLICATION

    This paper attempts to highlight the green policy and its practices for managing the human resource in the organizations and also seeks to ways out some techniques to make green HR policy useful for the organizational practices. In this study, the authors used secondary data through an extensive literature survey form different sources. The significant findings are that all over the world, organizations are trying to practice green management or implementation of green policy for their daily activities as well as to ensure the health and well-being of their human resources. Though the green system is beneficial for both the organizations as well as employees but it costs a lot in the initial stage to meet up the preliminary fixed costs, train the people and to make people ready to work as per green policies. Gathering experiences from different research in advanced countries the authors try to conclude the study by mentioning some ways- how to manage HR through green policy or green human resource management (HRM) techniques

    Economic development through the implementation of environment policies: An empirical study from the South-West coastal areas of Bangladesh

    Climate change is a reality and, it affects the lives of poor and vulnerable people in developing countries like Bangladesh. In order to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable people, it is urgent to set up a link between environmental policy implementation and poverty reduction. In this article, a natural resource management research approach is suggested. It consists of two steps (1) Identifying the extents related to environmental sustainability and, (2) The role of the areas to the income generation process. Descriptive research design is used to achieve the objectives, and for the purpose of the research primary data is collected from 201 respondents in South-West coastal zone of Bangladesh with the help of a closed-ended questionnaire. The authors analyzed the data with the help of IBM SPSS-21 and, found that environmental sustainability is one of the most important precondition for economic development at the coastal zone in Bangladesh delta. It also found that the income generation process of the local people is significantly influenced by the environmental sustainability
