    Henrik Ibsen and Indian Bengali Literature: A Stage Production Perspective

    This paper aims at examining the impact of Ibsen’s plays in the Indian Bengali Literature through the stage production. It also focuses on the critical judgments of Indian poets, playwrights, interpreters, directors and producers along with their interpretation, translation, transformation, and stage production of Ibsen’s plays including A Doll’s House, Ghosts, An Enemy of the People, and Rosmersholm. It also attempts to discuss social, religious, cultural and economic circumstances of the people of Indian Subcontinent. His middle period prose plays are considered as social problematic plays, and his profound psychology, thought and imagination have been influenced in Bengali dramatic composition and stage performance.     REINTERPRETING ACHEBE'S "A MAN OF THE PEOPLE POST-COLONIALLY

    This paper would like to examine Chinua Achebe’s novel A Man of the People (1966) in the post-colonial Nigeria perspective. The novel-text depicts corrupt influence of power on the common men and the politicians, sexual-political rivalries. Socio-political disorder gives a way to corruption, exploitation, despair, and anguish in the post-independent Nigerian society and community. The paper aims to present corruption, exploitation, and social injustice in society and acquisition of material wealth by a nefarious policy. Achebe’s novel A Man of the People is a mirror of political opportunism and prevalent corruption in the socio-political aspects of a 20th-century Nigeria. Achebe challenges the derogatory image of Nigeria and refutes western influences on Nigerian nation. As a self-conscious critic and social observer of the age, the novelist wants to present prevalent issues very faithfully. Themes and characters are vividly reflected through political and socio-cultural trends of a 20th-century Nigeria. For this purpose, the paper would like to examine the characters of Chief Nanga and Odilli Samalu with a view to fostering a perfect picture of post-colonial Nigeria’s corrupt politics. Achebe exposes the political malady through the characters of Nanga and Odilli who represent existing social and political contradictions. Both Odilli and Nanga, representing the young educated Nigerian and a stereotype in Nigerian politics, are drawn to alien culture and are corrupted by emerging new forces of power and wealth. Odilli opposes against an unscrupulous politician Chief Nanga regarding his corrupt political ruling system. The paper would like to unveil how once upon a time the common Nigerians were dominated and oppressed by the British. And, this Chief Nanga is a follower of the British rulers. The paper also would like to investigate Achebe’s treatment of socio-political system of his contemporary age. Finally, this paper would like to make a comparative study between Syed Shamsul Haque’s play Nuruldin’s Lifetime and Achebe’s novel A Man of the People with a view to highlighting the practical picture of the corrupt socio-political system of the dishonest and powerful rulers of the age.     Magic Realism in Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children

    The aim of this paper is to examine a comparative study between Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children in the light of Magic Realism. It aims to examine Shakespeare’s and Rushdie’s treatment of Magic Realism during 16th century England and 20th century India, respectively. For this propose, it attempts to portray some important characters, like Prospero, Caliban, and Ariel in the play, The Tempest and the narrator, Saleem Sinai in the novel, Midnight Children. It aims to look at applying the theory of Magic Realism made by prominent critics and scholars. It also wants to focus on magic, supernatural, occult, imagination, reality, and mystery. Both Shakespeare’s and Rushdie’s literary texts are analyzed within the parameters of these issues. Finally, this paper presents the art of characterization, themes and situations, writing forms, similarities and differences in various phases of the two famous writers

    Results and Reasons of Failure at the Secondary Level Examination of Bangladesh Education System: An Empirical Investigation

    The aim of this research paper is to look at the results and reasons of failure of the SSC, Dakhil, and Vocational Examinations-2018 under 10 Education Boards in Bangladesh. It would like to unveil the 21st-century Education System of the secondary level. Its aim is to highlight all sorts of Subjects of Humanities, Business Studies, and Science Group at the secondary level. It attempts to investigate the total students of all education boards, reasons of failure, comparative study of pass rate, the number of successful students with GPA-5, and their average percentage of each board. This study would like to focus on the real picture of teachers’ and students’ performance at the secondary level. For this purpose, the current researcher had to complete the survey with the help of 20 participants, including 10 students, 5 teachers, and 5 parents regarding results and failure of the secondary level examination based on questionnaire system at Sristy Central School & College, Uttara, Dhaka. Sources were taken from the selected national dailies of Bangladesh. Teachers, students, and parents were asked to tick the right option out of four about the current education system of the secondary level. Based on their comments, the researcher had to find out the probable means of solution. Moreover, the aim of the paper is to investigate the effective recommendations for learners, parents, and teachers with a view to showing a new dimension of the secondary level education system of Bangladesh.

For this purpose, the whole article aims to look at empowerment, modern woman, erotic passion and love, sexual harassment through which female character has been investigated. It aims to analyze Ibsen’s treatment of women during 19th-century Norway. It would like to make also a comparative study between Rebecca West and Louka with a view to fostering Ibsen’s and Shaw’s attitudes towards women of their contemporary age.     Empowering Bangladeshi Female Teachers through Ibsen’s A Doll’s House

    The term, “empowerment” is undoubtedly a debating issue to many critics, scholars, politicians, academicians, practitioners, feminists, researchers, and litterateurs around the world; it is difficult to define in a practical sense. This study would like to apply this term with a view to empowering Bangladesh’s female teachers. And, the term, “empowerment” would be connected with women empowerment in the Bangladesh Perspective to clarify the discussion of this study. Truly speaking, Ibsen’s A Doll’s House bears the everlasting testimony of a feminist play around the planet. Though Ibsen’s outstanding creation of Nora’s character is still a globally controversial question, but to womankind, she is regarded as a model of freedom, power, and protect. In Bangladeshi colleges and universities, the participation of women is on the increase day by day across the country. Many of them are keenly interested in teaching profession, especially Bengali and English literature. It is interesting to note that many female teachers are very much eager to teach and carry out their scientific research project on A Doll’s House in the light of Bangladesh. They would like to find out an innovative and potential aspect of contemporary women’s issues differently through an epoch making creation of Ibsen’s female character, Nora. Some of female teachers regard Nora as an inspiration of women empowerment in the Bangladesh perspective. They have a popular notion that Nora is not only for the Scandinavian women, but also for Bangladeshi. In this regard, the researcher would like to frame Nora as a pioneer of women empowerment to Bangladeshi female teachers. Moreover, this study would like to examine how Ibsen’s A Doll’s House is now being evaluated, learnt, and taught in the Bangladeshi colleges and universities

    MANIFESTATIONS OF POVERTY IN WORLD LITERATURE

    This study would like to examine manifestations of poverty in the light of world literature. For this purpose, it would like to investigate the selected-literary texts, like Kazi Nazrul Islam’s “Poverty”, Thomas Montague Traherne’s Poverty, and Charles Dickens’ Hard Times. It aims to look at the real picture of poverty of the age, which has been reflected in their works. It would like to focus upon the manifestations of poverty and its relation with the current age. Nazrul, Dickens, and Traherne have led their personal lives with great hardship, bitterness experiences, psychological problems, like trauma and paranoia during their life span. They have tried to draw a light upon personal inflicting senses and mental disorders of the poor communities through their literary works. They have wanted to explore the practical circumstances and dark aspects of human society, community, and culture with a view to bringing about revolutionary changes of the poor community of the world around. Of course, such writers and their literary works are the symbol of today’s society as well as literature. In this sense, it may be expressed that Nazrul, Dickens, and Traherne are the representatives of the age. The researchers’ goal is that poverty is profoundly dealt with human life; no literature can express his perfect feeling and imagination if he has not tasted the bitterness experience of poverty in life. In many countries of the world, many litterateurs have focused upon the practical experiences of social problems of their hard times in the name of poverty.
