Thiadiazine Derivatives as Antiprotozoal New Drugs
The 3,5-disubstituted tetrahydro-2H-1,3,5-thiadiazine-2-thione scaffold have found many applications in recent years. This review is aimed at highlighting the most important aspects about these compounds: synthesis, spectroscopic characterization and antiprotozoan activities. How the chemical nature of N-substituents influences the overall activity / cytotoxicity profile will also be discussed
Eco-Friendly Methodology to Prepare N-Heterocycles Related to Dihydropyridines: Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Alkyl 4-Arylsubstituted-6-chloro-5-formyl-2-methyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3-carboxylate and 4-Arylsubstituted-4,7-dihydrofuro[3,4-b]pyridine-2,5(1H,3H)-dione
Here we describe the efficient synthesis of alkyl 4-arylsubstituted-6-chloro-5-formyl-2-methyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3-carboxylates and 4-arylsubstituted-4,7-dihydro-furo[3,4-b]pyridine-2,5(1H,3H)-diones via microwave-accelerated reaction of alkyl 4-arylsubstituted-2-methyl-6-oxo-1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-3-pyridinecarboxylates with the appropriate reagents. This eco-friendly approach to these valuable dihydropyridine derivatives does not involve the harsh or highly contaminating conditions common in classical heating and offers a reduction or even elimination of solvent use and recovery, simplification of the work-up procedures, facility of scale up, and low energy consumption, in addition to moderate to higher yields
SHORT COMMUNICATION - Effect of Thiadiazine Derivatives on Intracellular Amastigotes of Leishmania amazonensis
Current therapy for leishmaniasis is not satisfactory. We describe the
in vitro antiproliferative effects of new thiadiazine derivatives
against Leishmania amazonensis. The compounds were found to be active
against the amastigote form of the parasite, inhibiting parasite
growing, from 10 to 89%, at a concentration of 100 ng/ml. This activity
suggests that thiadiazine derivatives could be considered as potential
antileishmanial compounds
Hybrid Steroid‐[60]Fullerene as n‐Type Material for Organic Photovoltaics
Fullerene derivatives have been used as electron acceptor and transport materials in organic photovoltaics as well as in perovskite solar cells. Among them, [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PC61BM) has been one of the most widely used, in combination with poly-3-hexylthiophene (P3HT) as an electron donor semiconducting polymer, for the fabrication of organic bulk heterojunction solar cells (BHJ-OSC). In this work, a steroid-fullerene hybrid was synthesized through the Bingel–Hirsch reaction to compare its properties with PC61BM as the reference structure. Different spectroscopic techniques were employed to characterize the new fullerene derivative, namely 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). In addition, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and cyclic voltammetry were also performed. The characterization was completed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), which explore the hybrid‘s morphology, where the presence of the steroid moiety increases the solubility of the fullerene material. DFT/PBE−D3(BJ)/6-311G(d,p) calculations for both the steroid-fullerene hybrid and PC61BM allowed to obtain geometry optimizations and electronic structure data. A comparative study to analyze the nature of the electronic properties of the synthesized steroid-[60]fullerene hybrid and PC61BM with an oligomer of ten thiophene units, used in the active layer of organic solar cells, was carried out. Electron density maps using the [CIS|CNDOL/21] approach illustrate the photoexcitation of the donor followed by an electron-charge transfer to the acceptor fullerene.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (España)Depto. de Química OrgánicaFac. de Ciencias QuímicasTRUEpubDescuento UC
