    Automatic grammar enhancement for virtual assistant

    Grammar rule generation for virtual assistant applications is difficult to scale due to the need for manual labeling. This disclosure describes a scalable solution to automatically generate enhanced grammar rules in predefined verticals. The techniques enable incremental improvements to interpretations of voice commands by a virtual assistant application. Queries that have not already been processed for a target vertical are identified and extracted from a corpus of user queries, e.g., a time-limited corpus in a particular language. Queries are analyzed to discover arguments and patterns that are specific to the vertical. Grammar rules are generated based on the arguments and patterns

    We prove the strong convergence theorems for finding a common element of the set of fixed points of a nonspreading mapping T and the solution sets of zero of a maximal monotone mapping and an Ī±-inverse strongly monotone mapping in a Hilbert space. Manaka and Takahashi (2011) proved weak convergence theorems for maximal monotone operators with nonspreading mappings in a Hilbert space; there we introduced new iterative algorithms and got some strong convergence theorems for maximal monotone operators with nonspreading mappings in a Hilbert space

    The impact of influenza on the health related quality of life in China: an EQ-5D survey.

    BACKGROUND: Influenza causes considerable morbidity and mortality in China, but its impact on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) has not been previously measured. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective telephone survey to assess the impact of influenza on the HRQoL among outpatients and inpatients using the EuroQoL EQ-5D-3Ā L instrument. Participants were individuals with laboratory-confirmed influenza infection registered by the National Influenza-like-illness Surveillance Network in 2013. RESULTS: We interviewed 839 of 11,098 eligible influenza patients. After excluding those who were unable to complete the HRQoL for the registered influenza episode, 778 patients were included in the analysis. Both outpatients (nĀ =Ā 529) and inpatients (nĀ =Ā 249) most commonly reported problems with pain/discomfort (71.8% of outpatients and 71.9% of inpatients) and anxiety/depression (62.0% of outpatients and 75.1% of inpatients). For individual influenza outpatients, the mean health utility was 0.6142 (SD 0.2006), and the average quality adjusted life days (QALD) loss was 1.62 (SD 1.84) days. The HRQoL of influenza inpatients was worse (mean health utility 0.5851, SD 0.2197; mean QALD loss 3.51Ā days, SD 4.25) than that of outpatients (pĀ <Ā 0.05). The presence of underlying medical conditions lowered the HRQoL for both outpatients and inpatients (pĀ <Ā 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Influenza illness had a substantial impact on HRQoL. QALD loss due to an acute influenza episode in younger children was comparable to that due to enterovirus A71-associated hand, foot and mouth disease. Our findings are key inputs into disease burden estimates and cost-effectiveness evaluations of influenza-related interventions in China

    Effect of rs1344706 in the ZNF804A gene on the brain network.

    ZNF804A rs1344706 (A/C) was the first SNP that reached genome-wide significance for schizophrenia. Recent studies have linked rs1344706 to functional connectivity among specific brain regions. However, no study thus far has examined the role of this SNP in the entire functional connectome. In this study, we used degree centrality to test the role of rs1344706 in the whole-brain voxel-wise functional connectome during the resting state. 52 schizophrenia patients and 128 healthy controls were included in the final analysis. In our whole-brain analysis, we found a significant interaction effect of genotype&nbsp;Ɨ&nbsp;diagnosis at the precuneus (PCU) (cluster size&nbsp;=&nbsp;52 voxels, peak voxel MNI coordinates: x&nbsp;=&nbsp;9, y&nbsp;=&nbsp;-&nbsp;69, z&nbsp;=&nbsp;63, F&nbsp;=&nbsp;32.57, FWE corrected P&nbsp;&lt;&nbsp;0.001). When we subdivided the degree centrality network according to anatomical distance, the whole-brain analysis also found a significant interaction effect of genotype&nbsp;Ɨ&nbsp;diagnosis at the PCU with the same peak in the short-range degree centrality network (cluster size&nbsp;=&nbsp;72 voxels, F&nbsp;=&nbsp;37.29, FWE corrected P&nbsp;&lt;&nbsp;0.001). No significant result was found in the long-range degree centrality network. Our results elucidated the contribution of rs1344706 to functional connectivity within the brain network, and may have important implications for our understanding of this risk gene's role in functional dysconnectivity in schizophrenia

    Mn3O4-Graphene Hybrid as a High Capacity Anode Material for Lithium Ion Batteries

    We developed two-step solution-phase reactions to form hybrid materials of Mn3O4 nanoparticles on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) sheets for lithium ion battery applications. Mn3O4 nanoparticles grown selectively on RGO sheets over free particle growth in solution allowed for the electrically insulating Mn3O4 nanoparticles wired up to a current collector through the underlying conducting graphene network. The Mn3O4 nanoparticles formed on RGO show a high specific capacity up to ~900mAh/g near its theoretical capacity with good rate capability and cycling stability, owing to the intimate interactions between the graphene substrates and the Mn3O4 nanoparticles grown atop. The Mn3O4/RGO hybrid could be a promising candidate material for high-capacity, low-cost, and environmentally friendly anode for lithium ion batteries. Our growth-on-graphene approach should offer a new technique for design and synthesis of battery electrodes based on highly insulating materials.Comment: JACS in pres

    Clinical and epidemiologic characteristics of hospitalized patients with laboratory-confirmed respiratory syncytial virus infection in eastern china between 2009 and 2013: a retrospective study

    Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide in children aged &lt;5 years and older adults with acute lower respiratory infections (ALRIs). However, few studies regarding the epidemiology of hospitalizations for RSV infection have been performed previously in China. Here, we aimed to describe the clinical and epidemiologic characteristics of hospitalized patients with laboratory-confirmed RSV infection in eastern China. Active surveillance for hospitalized ALRI patients using a broad case definition based on symptoms was performed from 2009-2013 in 12 sentinel hospitals in eastern China. Clinical and epidemiologic data pertaining to hospitalized patients of all ages with laboratory-confirmed RSV infection by PCR assay were collected and analyzed in this study. From 2009 to 2013, 1046 hospitalized patients with laboratory-confirmed RSV infection were enrolled in this study, and 14.7% of patients had subtype A, 24.2% of patients had subtype B, 23.8% of patients with subtype not performed, and 37.3% of patients had RSV coinfections with other viruses. RSV and influenza coinfections (33.3%) were the most common coinfections noted in this study. Moreover, young children aged &lt;5 years (89.1%, 932/1046), particularly young infants aged &lt;1 year (43.3%, 453/1046), represented the highest proportion of patients with RSV infections. In contrast, older adults aged ?60 years (1.1%, 12/1046) represented the lowest proportion of patients with RSV infections among enrolled patients. The peak RSV infection period occurred mainly during autumn and winter, and 57% and 66% of patients exhibited symptoms such as fever (body temperature ?38Ā°C) and cough separately. Additionally, only a small number of patients were treated with broad-spectrum antiviral drugs, and most of patients were treated with antimicrobial drugs that were not appropriate for RSV infection. RSV is a leading viral pathogen and a common cause of viral infection in young children aged &lt;5 years with ALRIs in eastern China. Effective vaccines and antiviral agents targeting RSV are needed to mitigate its large public health impact

    The role of VdSti1 in Verticillium dahliae: insights into pathogenicity and stress responses

    Sti1/Hop, a stress-induced co-chaperone protein, serves as a crucial link between Hsp70 and Hsp90 during cellular stress responses. Despite its importance in stress defense mechanisms, the biological role of Sti1 in Verticillium dahliae, a destructive fungal pathogen, remains largely unexplored. This study focused on identifying and characterizing Sti1 homologues in V. dahliae by comparing them to those found in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The results indicated that the VdSti1-deficient mutant displayed increased sensitivity to drugs targeting the ergosterol synthesis pathway, leading to a notable inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesis. Moreover, the mutant exhibited reduced production of microsclerotia and melanin, accompanied by decreased expression of microsclerotia and melanin-related genes VDH1, Vayg1, and VaflM. Additionally, the mutantā€™s conidia showed more severe damage under heat shock conditions and displayed growth defects under various stressors such as temperature, SDS, and CR stress, as well as increased sensitivity to H2O2, while osmotic stress did not impact its growth. Importantly, the VdSti1-deficient mutant demonstrated significantly diminished pathogenicity compared to the wild-type strain. This study sheds light on the functional conservation and divergence of Sti1 homologues in fungal biology and underscores the critical role of VdSti1 in microsclerotia development, stress response, and pathogenicity of V. dahliae
