A structure of the training and competencies in psychoanalytic psychotherapy

    No full text
The paper deals with a structure of the training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy (PAPT) and its connection with a competence model that has not been much used in this direction in our conditions. It attempts to outline individual competencies of a psychoanalytic psychotherapist divided into general competencies common for all psychotherapeutic approaches dealing with a longer-term therapeutic relationship, and special competencies specific for psychoanalytic (or psychodynamic) psychotherapy. It describes how a particular course of the training in PAPT is adapted to focus on these specific competencies, especially by length and continuity of self-experience and afterwards supervision part. It tries to assign attaining of all competencies to the individual phases of the training. It also discusses an evaluation of acquired competencies that takes place mainly in long supervision part of the training, beginning with a decision of admitting a candidate to this part of the training that is not taken for granted. Floods are natural phenomenon that can be hardly resisted and that represents the biggest direct danger aut of all natural disaters. They cause both emergencies, during which huge material damage supervenes and also casualties in flood-affected areas. Ecological damage and devastation of the affected land are also the results of floods. Floods cannot be prevented, however, their consequences can be avoided or diminished by effecient measures. Floddes pointed out the necessity to build up and to complete flood control facilities in flood-hazard areas

Security and the whistleblowing management system (WMS)

    No full text
To ensure their security, organizations reach for more and more new solutions. They implement new co-management models based on the ideology of governance and Compliance Management System. One of the most important elements of the latter is the Whistleblowing Management System (hereinafter WMS), which can serve as an effective preventive barrier for an organization and a tool for collecting information from whistleblowers, verifying received information about violations of law and issuing recommendations on actions to be taken. Legal regulations being introduced in this area, both international and national, will not only allow greater access to whistleblowing channels for the majority of society but will also contribute to build a positive image of the whistleblower and increasing public awareness in this regard. Organizations are often exposed to activities that threaten their security in all dimensions. Starting with financial losses, through the most severe – image losses, or safety of the production line, safety of employees, physical and technical security of facilities. Therefore, it is important to conduct research that will indicate the possibilities of maximizing the use of whistleblowers to ensure the security of organizations and to propose improvements in this process, which should noticeably contribute to increasing the level of security, which in these times is a priority issue

Specific coping strategies may be connected to both the QoL and the severity of mental disorder. The aim of this investigation was to examine the relationship between the QoL and the coping strategies of outpatients with a depressive disorder. Methods: Eighty-two outpatients, who met the criteria of the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, for a depressive disorder, were enrolled in the cross-sectional study. Data on sociodemographic and clinical variables were obtained from the medical records. Individuals filled the following standardized questionnaires: Quality of Life Satisfaction and Enjoyment Questionnaire, Stress Coping Style Questionnaire, and Clinical Global Impression. Multiple regression analyses with backward elimination were performed to discover the most influential factors contributing to QoL.Results: The participants with a depressive disorder showed an overuse of negative coping strategies, especially escape tendency and resignation. A positive self-instruction strategy was used by the patients less often. The coping strategies were significantly associated with the QoL. A more frequent use of positive coping strategies had a positive association with the QoL. The main factors related to QoL were the subjective severity of the disorder, employment, and positive coping strategies. Conclusion: The study confirmed the relationship between QoL and the coping strategies of outpatients with a depressive disorder. Keywords: coping strategies, quality of life, depressive disorder&nbsp

Cryptosporidium myocastoris n. sp. (Apicomplexa: Cryptosporidiidae), the Species Adapted to the Nutria (Myocastor coypus)

Cryptosporidium spp., common parasites of vertebrates, remain poorly studied in wildlife. This study describes the novel Cryptosporidium species adapted to nutrias (Myocastor coypus). A total of 150 faecal samples of feral nutria were collected from locations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and examined for Cryptosporidium spp. oocysts and specific DNA at the SSU, actin, HSP70, and gp60 loci. Molecular analyses revealed the presence of C. parvum (n = 1), C. ubiquitum subtype family XIId (n = 5) and Cryptosporidium myocastoris n. sp. XXIIa (n = 2), and XXIIb (n = 3). Only nutrias positive for C. myocastoris shed microscopically detectable oocysts, which measured 4.8–5.2 × 4.7–5.0 µm, and oocysts were infectious for experimentally infected nutrias with a prepatent period of 5–6 days, although not for mice, gerbils, or chickens. The infection was localised in jejunum and ileum without observable macroscopic changes. The microvilli adjacent to attached stages responded by elongating. Clinical signs were not observed in naturally or experimentally infected nutrias. Phylogenetic analyses at SSU, actin, and HSP70 loci demonstrated that C. myocastoris n. sp. is distinct from other valid Cryptosporidium species

AbstractBackgroundThis two decade long study presents a comprehensive overview of the CFTR mutation distribution in a representative cohort of 600 Czech CF patients derived from all regions of the Czech Republic.MethodsWe examined the most common CF-causing mutations using the Elucigene CF-EU2v1™ assay, followed by MLPA, mutation scanning and/or sequencing of the entire CFTR coding region and splice site junctions.ResultsWe identified 99.5% of all mutations (1194/1200 CFTR alleles) in the Czech CF population. Altogether 91 different CFTR mutations, of which 20 were novel, were detected. One case of de novo mutation and a novel polymorphism was revealed.ConclusionThe commercial assay achieved 90.7%, the MLPA added 1.0% and sequencing increased the detection rate by 7.8%. These comprehensive data provide a basis for the improvement of CF DNA diagnostics and/or newborn screening in our country. In addition, they are relevant to related Central European populations with lower mutation detection rates, as well as to the sizeable North American “Bohemian diaspora”
