    On Maximal Massive 3D Supergravity

    Get PDF
We construct, at the linearized level, the three-dimensional (3D) N = 4 supersymmetric "general massive supergravity" and the maximally supersymmetric N = 8 "new massive supergravity". We also construct the maximally supersymmetric linearized N = 7 topologically massive supergravity, although we expect N = 6 to be maximal at the non-linear level.Comment: 33 page

A Note on E11 and Three-dimensional Gauged Supergravity

    Get PDF
We determine the gauge symmetries of all p-forms in maximal three-dimensional gauged supergravity by requiring invariance of the Lagrangian. It is shown that in a particular ungauged limit these symmetries are in precise correspondence to those predicted by the very-extended Kac-Moody algebra E11. We demonstrate that whereas in the ungauged limit the bosonic gauge algebra closes off-shell, the closure is only on-shell in the full gauged theory. This underlines the importance of dynamics for understanding the Kac-Moody origin of the symmetries of gauged supergravity.Comment: Published versio

    New Massive Gravity Domain Walls

The properties of the asymptotic AdS3AdS_3 space-times representing flat domain walls (DW's) solutions of the New Massive 3D Gravity with scalar matter are studied. Our analysis is based on IstI^{st} order BPS-like equations involving an appropriate superpotential. The Brown-York boundary stress-tensor is used for the calculation of DW's tensions as well as of the CFT2CFT_2's central charges. The holographic renormalization group flows and the phase transitions in specific deformed CFT2CFT_2 dual to 3D massive gravity model with quadratic superpotential are discussed.Comment: 12 pages,v2-misprints corrected, comments concerning BPS eqs. for NMG model in d>3 added in Sect.

On higher derivative gravity, c-theorems and cosmology

We consider higher derivative gravity lagrangians in 3 and 4 dimensions, which admit simple c-theorems, including upto six derivative curvature invariants. Following a suggestion by Myers, these lagrangians are restricted such that the fluctuations around (anti) de Sitter spaces have second order linearized equations of motion. We study c-theorems both in the context of AdS/CFT and cosmology. In the context of cosmology, the monotonic function is the entropy defined on the apparent horizon through Wald's formula. Exact black hole solutions which are asymptotically (anti) de Sitter are presented. An interesting lower bound for entropy is found in de Sitter space. Some aspects of cosmology in both D=3 and D=4 are discussed.Comment: 23 pages, v3: clarifications added, references adde

On the structure of k-Lie algebras

We show that the structure constants of kk-Lie algebras, k>3k>3, with a positive definite metric are the sum of the volume forms of orthogonal kk-planes. This generalizes the result for k=3k=3 in arXiv:0804.2662 and arXiv:0804.3078, and confirms a conjecture in math/0211170.Comment: 4 pages, minor changes and a reference adde
