    Application of Computational Lower Extremity Model to Investigate Different Muscle Activities and Joint Force Patterns in Knee Osteoarthritis Patients during Walking

    Many experimental and computational studies have reported that osteoarthritis in the knee joint affects knee biomechanics, including joint kinematics, joint contact forces, and muscle activities, due to functional restriction and disability. In this study, differences in muscle activities and joint force patterns between knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients and normal subjects during walking were investigated using the inverse dynamic analysis with a lower extremity musculoskeletal model. Extensor/flexor muscle activations and torque ratios and the joint contact forces were compared between the OA and normal groups. The OA patients had higher extensor muscle forces and lateral component of the knee joint force than normal subjects as well as force and torque ratios of extensor and flexor muscles, while the other parameters had little differences. The results explained that OA patients increased the level of antagonistic cocontraction and the adduction moment on the knee joint. The presented findings and technologies provide insight into biomechanical changes in OA patients and can also be used to evaluate the postoperative functional outcomes of the OA treatments

    Nearly isotropic upper critical fields in a SrFe1.85_{1.85}Co0.15_{0.15}As2_{2} single crystal

    We study temperature dependent upper critical field Hc2H_{\rm c2} of a SrFe1.85_{1.85}Co0.15_{0.15}As2_{2} single crystal (\textit{Tc_c}=20.2 K) along \textit{ab}-plane and \textit{c}-axis through resistivity measurements up to 50 T. For the both crystalline directions, Hc2H_{\rm c2} becomes nearly isotropic at zero temperature limit, reaching \sim 48 T. The temperature dependence of the Hc2H_{\rm c2} curves is explained by interplay between orbital and Pauli limiting behaviors combined with the two band effects.Comment: Proceedings of M2S-IX, Tokyo 200

    — The combination of the internet, social media and mobile phones makes the social mobile game is becoming a huge market with high growth rates from year to year. This trend is attract the game developers/publisher vying to enter this game market including in Indonesia. In other hand, Twitter as one of social media has a major influence on consumer purchase decisions especially in social mobile games. Consumer seeking recommendation about game that they want to download based on their friend recommendation and content that their consume in social media before visit online store. As for Indonesia game developers most of their marketing activities were more to game gathering or events, there is little that effectively use social media as marketing channel. Social media adoption including twitter in Indonesia game developer is at stage of connectivity and proff of company existance. The purpose of this research is to know does using twitter as social media marketing have effect to influence consumer and download mobile game. In this research, experiment methodology was employed. Experiment was choosed because to have real insight about the effect of twitter as social media marketing in building games relationship with consumer and increase the number of game download. Stack The Stuff, game from PT. Nightspade was choosed as research object. The implementation using OASIS frawework as guidance. The results from the experiments in this research measured using Social Model Exposure-Engagement-Influence-Action from Don Bartholomew.Twitter as media marketing executed by carrying experiment 1 (15 August 2012 - 15 September 2012) with buzzing methods first, after it finish, followed by experiment 2 (22 September - 22 October 2012) with tweeting and offering method. Then, both experiment results compared to know which the better Twitter marketing method. The measurement using several tools, namely TweetLevel, Sprout Social, and downloads data. With confidence level 95%, our results suggested that twitter as media marketing with buzzing method have effect to increase game download and tweeting and offering method have effect to increase product engagement and influence in Twitter. Furthermore, in the end of research, there are recommendations to implement twitter as social media marketing for small-middle sized company like Indonesia game developer

    A new strategy for integrating abundant oxygen functional groups into carbon felt electrode for vanadium redox flow batteries

    The effects of surface treatment combining corona discharge and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) on the electrochemical performance of carbon felt electrodes for vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) have been thoroughly investigated. Ahigh concentration of oxygen functional groups has been successfully introduced onto the surface of the carbon felt electrodes by a specially designed surface treatment, which is mainly responsible for improving the energy efficiency of VRFBs. In addition, the wettability of the carbon felt electrodes also can be significantly improved. The energy efficiency of the VRFB cell employing the surface modified carbon felt electrodes is improved by 7% at high current density (148 mA cm(-2)). Such improvement is attributed to the faster charge transfer and better wettability allowed by surface-active oxygen functional groups. Moreover, this method is much more competitive than other surface treatments in terms of processing time, production costs, and electrochemical performance.

    Postoperative clinical outcomes and radiological healing according to deep and superficial layer detachment in first facet involving subscapularis tendon tear

    Background Subscapularis tendon insertion at the first facet has separate layers (deep and superficial). The purpose of this study is to evaluate postoperative clinical outcomes and radiological healing according to each layer of detachment in the first facet involving subscapularis tendon tear. Methods Eighty-three patients who underwent arthroscopic repair due to First facet involving the scapularis tendon tear accompanying small to medium sized posterosuperior cuff tear were classified into three groups (group A: deep layer partial detachment, group B: deep layer complete detachment, but no superficial layer detachment, and group C: deep layer and superficial layer complete detachment). Subscapularis tendon healing was evaluated using computed tomography arthrogram and clinical result was evaluated using American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) shoulder score, Constant score and University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) shoulder score. Results Retear rate of the subscapularis tendon was 2.2%, 18.2%, and 33.3% in group A, group B, and group C, respectively. These rates showed statistically significant difference among the three groups, which were classified by deep and superficial layer detachment in the first facet (p=0.003). Group A showed significant difference in subscapularis tendon healing compared with group B and group C (p=0.018 and p<0.001, respectively), but there was no statistical difference between group B and group C (p=0.292). Regarding clinical outcomes, there was no significant difference among three groups in ASES and UCLA score at final follow-up (p=0.070 and p=0.106, respectively). Conclusions Complete detachment of deep layer may be related with retear occurrence regardless with detachment of superficial layer, but clinical outcome may not be related with each layer detachment in the first facet involving subscapularis tendon tear
