A 54-year-old woman was seen at the hospital because of anal bleeding. Colonoscopy examination showed a type 2 tumor in the lower rectum and the histological diagnosis from the biopsy specimen was undifferenciated adenocarcinoma. Abdomino-perineal amputation of the rectum were performed. The resected specimen was positive for synaptophysin stain immunohistochemically and we diagnosed it as an endocrine cell carcinoma. We underwent adjuvant chemotherapy by bolus CPT-11, and the post operative course was uneventful. Intra-pelvic recurrence was observed 15 months after operation, and further 4 months later, metastasis developed around the pancreas. And we noticed the tumor in supraclavicular region 21 months after operation. The tumor was sensitive to chemotherapy, but continued to progress. So we underwent radiotherapy for each lesion. The lesion treated with radiotherapy were controlled until she died of cancer, 31 months after the operation. As a result of autopsy, an exellent effect of radiotherapy was confirmed

How changes in consciousness influence exercise performance : Experimental testing of three different running forms

    No full text
The present running and sprinting coaching methods used in school physical education emphasize the high-knee and kickconscious running forms. However, sports science regards these coaching methods as a mistake. Through ongoing reflection on the results of his practical coaching, the first author is developing a new running coaching method (the non-kick-conscious running form) that is designed to replace these traditional methods. The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of three different running forms (individuals’ natural running form, the kick-conscious running form, and the non-kick-conscious running form) through running experiments. The results suggest that the non-kick-conscious running form results in higher performance and less physical burden being placed on the runner than the other methods

A Demonstration of Pt L-3-Edge EXAFS Free from Au L-3-Edge Using Log-Spiral Bent Crystal Laue Analyzers

Pt-Au nanostructures are important and well-studied fuel cell catalysts for their promising catalytic performance. However, a detailed quantitative local structure analysis, using extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy, have been inhibited by interference between Pt and Au L-3-edges. In this paper, Pt L-3-edge XAFS analysis, free of Au L-3 edge, is demonstrated for a Pt-Au reference sample using a low-cost log-spiral bent crystal Laue analyzer (BCLA). This method facilitates the EXAFS structural analysis of Pt-Au catalysts, which are important to improve fuel cell catalysts

化石化を逆転させ、多孔性メゾ構造体の形をデザイン : 高速分離でバイオエタノール精製などの効率化へ.京都大学プレスリリース.2012-06-25.The spatial organization of porous coordination polymer (PCP) crystals into higher-order structures is critical for their integration into separation systems, heterogeneous catalysts, ion/electron transport and photonic devices. Here, we demonstrate a rapid method to spatially control the nucleation site, leading to the formation of mesoscopic architecture made of PCPs, in both two and three dimensions. Inspired by geological processes, this method relies on the morphological replacement of a shaped sacrificial metal oxide used both as a metal source and as an 'architecture-directing agent' by an analogous PCP architecture. Spatiotemporal harmonization of the metal oxide dissolution and the PCP crystallization allowed the preservation of very fine mineral morphological details of periodic alumina inverse opal structures. The replication of randomly structured alumina aerogels resulted in a PCP architecture with hierarchical porosity in which the hydrophobic micropores of the PCP and the mesopores/macropores inherited from the parent aerogels synergistically enhanced the material's selectivity and mass transfer for water/ethanol separation
