    A suite of computer programs has been developed for special test equipment (STE) that is used in verification testing of the Health Management Computer Integrated Rack Assembly (HMCIRA), a ground-based system of analog and digital electronic hardware and software for "flight-like" testing for development of components of an advanced health-management system for the space shuttle main engine (SSME). The STE software enables the STE to simulate the analog input and the data flow of an SSME test firing from start to finish

    A Feasibility Study of In-Situ Damage Visualization in Basalt-Fiber Reinforced Polymers with Open-Source Digital Volume Correlation

    This work analyses damage formation within the bulk of basalt fiber-reinforced polymers (BFRP) by means of open-source Digital Volume Correlation (DVC). Volumetric image data were obtained from conventional in-situ X-Ray computed micro-tomography (µCT) of samples loaded in tension. The open-source image registration toolkit Elastix was employed to obtain full 3D displacement fields from the image data. We assessed the accuracy of the DVC results using the method of manufactured solution and showed that the approach followed here can detect deformation with a magnitude in the order of a fiber diameter which in the present case is 17 µm. The beneficial influence of regularization on DVC results is presented on the manufactured solution as well as on real in-situ tensile testing CT data of a BFRP sample. Results of the correlation showed that conventional µCT equipment in combination with DVC can be used to detect defects which could previously only be visualized using synchrotron facilities or destructive methods

    AAL-Onto: A formal representation of RAALI integration profiles

    The integration and commissioning of Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) systems are time consuming and complicated. The lack of interoperability of available AAL system components has to be considered as an obstacle especially for innovative SMEs. In order to ease integration and commissioning of systems, knowledge based methods should be taken into account to enable innovative characteristics such as design automation, self-configuration and self-management. Semantic technologies are suitable instruments for mastering the problems of interoperability of heterogeneous and distributed systems. As an important prerequisite for the emergence of knowledge-based assistance functions a standard for an unambiguous representation of AAL relevant knowledge has to be developed. In this article, the development of an AAL ontology is proposed as a formal basis for knowledge-based system functions. A prototype of an AAL specific ontology engineering process is presented through the modeling example of a formal representation of a sensor block that is part of an AAL Integration Profile proposed by the RAALI project consortium
