    The Influences of Bondol Attack Against Paddy Damage in Bogor

    Bondol bird group known as one of the pests that attack paddy. This study aims to identify the number of individuals, attack frequency, damageto paddy and control efforts of bondol groups. There were three types of bondol groups, they were 256 scaly-breasted munia (Lonchura punctulata),1.075 javan munia (L. leucogastroides) and 94 white-headed munia (L. Maja). There were 1.090 bondol recorded in Sawah Baru and 335 inCiherang. At morning became the most frequent time to bondol in attacking paddy, as many as 97 times in Sawah Baru and 37 times in Ciherang. Thenumber of damage paddy in Sawah Baru during the observation amounted 4,24%. The number of damage paddy in Ciherang during the observationamounted 4,05%. Losses suffered by farmers during the observation as much as IDR 2.500.325 million/ha in Sawah Baru and IDR 1.064.040million/ha in Ciherang.     Spatial and TIME Pattern Distribution of Water Birds Community at Mangrove Ecosystem of Bengawan Solo Estuary - Gresik Regency

    Mangrove ecosystem in Bengawan Solo estuary is a part of the essential ecosystem and also as important and endemic birds' areas. Aim of this study is to analysis the parameter of habitat condition, analysis the different of time and spatial pattern and provide the management strategy for water birds and habitat. Reseach was carry out at January – May, 2017 (two period observation). Methods are used i.e. concentration count, single and unit plot, point count, interview and field observation. Data analyze using chi-square, grid-line point and mark point, beak-type and vegetation analysis. There are 41 (forty one) species of water birds (23 migrant species and 17 native species). Chi-square analysis have significance difference both the time and spatial and also type of feed with chi-square values (Ο‡2 hit.(2;0,95) > Ο‡2 tab.(2;0,95). Migrant birds' occupy the mudflat for feeding and resting ground, while the native birds use pond areas. Common the invertebrate species as feed for migrant like crustace and native birds are tend to feed fish and shrimp. Feeding and resting activities by migrant birds was influence by water-tidal condition. Total of water birds population are 112.100+ individual. Total of mangrove species was identified are 15 (fifteen) species, and dominant at three habitus by Avicennia alba

    Hubungan Imunoekspresi Human Telomerase Reserve Transcriptase (HTERT) Dan Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) Dengan Gradasi Histopatologi Meningioma

    Background: Meningioma is a tumor composed of cells of neoplastic meningothelial (arachnoidal) cells that a rise from the arachnoid membrane and the layer of the arachnoid villi associated with intradural venous sinuses and surrounding tissue. Meningiomas tumors is one of the central nervous system (CNS) the most commonly found (the second sequence) and generally grow slowly. Approximately 60-95% activity of telomerase (hTERT ) found on meningiomas and can induces VEGF . The aim of this study is to determine the role of hTERT and VEGF in meningiomas grading . Methods : This study is conducted using analytic observasional cross sectional method and had been analyzed with unpaired categorical analysis of the 60 cases of meningioma (46 cases grade I, 7 cases grade II, and7 cases grade III). The sample were obtained the archive of Anatomical Pathology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University/Dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital Result : The result of this study showed: 44 cases (96%) grade I meningiomas showed positive hTERT imunoexpression weak to strong, 2 cases(4%) non-reactive and VEGF imunoexpression showed strong positive 12 cases (26%), 24 cases(52%) were moderate positive and 10 cases (22%) weak positive. 7 cases (100%) grade II showed a strong positive hTERT imunoexpression and 5 cases (71%) showed a strong positive VEGF imunoexpression, 2 cases (29%) were moderate positive. 6 cases (86%) grade III showed strong positive hTERT imunoexpression, 1 case (14%) were moderate positive and 7 cases(100%) showed a strong positive VEGF imunoexpression. Statistical analysis revealed imunoexpression VEGF showed stronger positivity with p- value = 0.02 (< 0.05) compared to the hTERT imunoexpression with p-value = 0.73 (> 0.05). Conclusion : More affecting angiogenesis gradations meningiomas, seen by the presence of VEGF higher imunoexpression on higher gradations. hTERT Imunoexpression cannot determine of the meningiomas histopathological grading

    Correlation Between Expression of MVP, Index of P53 and AgNOR Value with Chemoradiotherapy Clinical Response of Cervical Cancer

    Cervical cancer is the most frequent cancer found in Indonesia. The primary treatment of cervical cancer at the locally advanced stage is usually performed by using radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The combination of the two techniques is often called chemoradioherapy. The response to chemoradiotherapy is influenced by biological and physical factors. Major vault protein (MVP) is a ribonucleoprotein which contributes to drug resistance in some cancers. The purposes of this research were: (1) to determine the correlation between the expression of MVP and the index of p53, including AgNOR values and index of MIB-1; and (2) between MVP and chemoradiotherapy clinical response of cervical cancer. Twenty-one microscopic slides taken from biopsy tissues of cervical cancer patients before undergoing treatment were stained to identify MVP, p53, and MIB-1 by means of immunohistochemistry techniques and AgNORs staining. After undergoing chemoradiotherapy treatment, the patients' clinical responses were observed by pelvic control method. Experimental results showed that there was a correlation between MVP and AgNOR value (P=0.05), but no correlation between MVP and index of p53 (P=0.729), including MIB-1 LI (P=0.63), in untreated cervical cancer. In addition, there was no association between MVP and chemoradioterapy response. In conclusion, MVP expression correlates with the process of cell proliferation before the G2 phase of cell cycle in untreated cancer cells.     Perbandingan Imunoekspresi P53 Dan Caspase-3 Pada Mola Hidatidosa Parsial, Mola Hidatidosa Komplit, Dan Koriokarsinoma

    Background: Partial hydatidiform mole, complete hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma are gestational trophoblastic diseases which have high incidence in Indonesia. Most complete hydatidiform mole can transform into choriocarcinoma , but pathogenesis of the transformation is remain unknown. Apoptosis plays an important role in the pathogenesis of human Malignancy. p53 and caspase - 3 play a role in apotosis . The aim of this study is to evaluate the p53 and caspase-3 immunoexpression in partial hydatidiform mole, complete hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma Methods: This is an observational analytic cross sectional study, conducted on 30 cases of gestational trophoblastic diseases consisted of 10 cases of partial hydatidiform mole, 10 cases of complete hydatidiform mole and 10 cases of choriocarcinoma. Immunohistochemical examination of p53 and Caspase-3 were performed on all cases. Result : The result showed significant difference between the p53 immunoexpression in partial hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma (p = 0.002), there was no significant p53 immunoexpression difference between complete hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma (p = 0.121), there was no caspase-3 immunoexpression difference between partial hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma (p = 0.160) and there was no caspase-3 immunoexpression difference between complete hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma (p = 0.361). p53 Immunoexpresion was higher in the case of complete hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma but tend to be lower in partial hydatidiform mole. Conclusion : In conclusion, p53 may play a role in the pathogenesis of complete hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma, but has a lesser role in the pathogenesis of partial hydatidiform mole. Caspase-3 might not play a role in the pathogenesis of hydatidiform mole transformation into choriocarcinoma

    Background. Curcumin is a polyphenol that has pharmacological activity that can inhibit tumor cell growth and induce apoptosis through various mechanisms. However, the specifc mechanism of curcumin cytotoxicity remains controversial because of many anti- and pro-apoptotic signaling pathways in various cell types.This study aims to examine the relationship among curcumin on RASSF1A, Bax protein levels, and caspase-3 activity in supporting the apoptotic mechanism in CSA03 breast cancer cells.Material and Methods. Curcumin administration to cancer cells is based on differences in dosage with 24-hour incubation. Cytotoxicity after curcumin administration was determined using MTS. RASSF1A and Bax protein levels were tested through ELISA. Caspase-3 activity was used to determine apoptosis and was tested using fow cytometry.Results. The results indicated that curcumin had a cytotoxicity effect of 40.85 Β΅g/mL. At concentrations of 40 Β΅g/mL and 50 Β΅g/mL, curcumin increases levels of protein RASSF1A (βˆ† = 26.53% and 47.35%, respectively), Bax (βˆ† = 48.79% and 386.15%), and caspase-3 (βˆ† = 1,678.51% and 1,871.889%) signifcantly.Conclusions. Curcumin exhibits anti-proliferative activity and apoptotic (Caspase-3) effects through activation of RASSF1A and Bax.Β ΠΠΊΡ‚ΡƒΠ°Π»ΡŒΠ½ΠΎΡΡ‚ΡŒ.
