On the local Lorentz invariance in N=1 supergravity
We discuss the local Lorentz invariance in the context of N=1 supergravity
and show that a previous attempt to find explicit solutions to the Lorentz
constraint in terms of matrices is not correct. We improve that
solution by using a different representation of the Lorentz operators in terms
of the generators of the rotation group, and show its compatibility with the
matrix representation of the fermionic field. We find the most general wave
functional that satisfies the Lorentz constraint in this representation
Set-Based Concurrent Engineering Model for Automotive Electronic/Software Systems Development
Organised by: Cranfield UniversityThis paper is presenting a proposal of a novel approach to automotive electronic/software systems
development. It is based on the combination of Set-Based Concurrent Engineering, a Toyota approach to
product development, with the standard V-Model of software development. Automotive industry currently
faces the problem of growing complexity of electronic/software systems. This issue is especially visible at
the level of integration of these systems which is difficult and error-prone. The presented conceptual
proposal is to establish better processes that could handle the electronic/software systems design and
development in a more integrated and consistent manner.Mori Seiki â The Machine Tool Compan
Politicization of street vending in BogotĂĄ
From the monitoring results from informal vendors in the public space developed at different times by the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, and presented in institutional reports IPES this institute has been able to establish some of the aspects of the dynamics of growth and occupation of street vending, which allows to raise considerations about the impact of the policy of economic exploitation, and investment in the production, use and exploitation in developing public space of the Public Space Master Plan
Firm Investment and Monetary Policy Transmission in the Euro Area.
We present a comparable set of results on the monetary transmission channels on firm investment for the four largest euro-area countries (Germany, France, Italy and Spain). With particularly rich micro datasets for each country containing over 215,000 observations from 1985 to 1999, we ex-plore what can be learned about the interest channel and the broad credit channel. For each of those countries, we estimate neo-classical investment relationships, explaining investment by its user cost, sales and cash flow. We find investment to be sensitive to user cost changes in all those four countries. This implies an operative interest channel in these euro-area countries. We also find in-vestment in all countries to be quite sensitive to cash flow movements. However, only in Italy do smaller firms react more to cash flow movements than large firms, implying that a broad credit channel might not be equally pervasive in all countries.Investment, Monetary transmission channels, User cost of capital.
Effect of the hard magnetic inclusion on the macroscopic anisotropy of nanocrystalline magnetic-materials
It is shown that the presence of highly anisotropic magnetic precipitates in a soft multiphased matrix can produce a remarkable hardening, even when the volume fraction of the precipitates is small. The exchange coupling between the matrix and the precipitates is the relevant parameter. In particular, the simplified analysis we develop in this paper accounts for the magnetic hardening observed in very soft Fe-rich nanocrystals after annealing at higher temperatures
List Decoding of Matrix-Product Codes from nested codes: an application to Quasi-Cyclic codes
A list decoding algorithm for matrix-product codes is provided when are nested linear codes and is a non-singular by columns matrix. We
estimate the probability of getting more than one codeword as output when the
constituent codes are Reed-Solomon codes. We extend this list decoding
algorithm for matrix-product codes with polynomial units, which are
quasi-cyclic codes. Furthermore, it allows us to consider unique decoding for
matrix-product codes with polynomial units
A Proposal for a Multi-Drive Heterogeneous Modular Pipe- Inspection Micro-Robot
This paper presents the architecture used to develop a micro-robot for narrow pipes inspection. Both the electromechanical design and the control scheme will be described. In pipe environments it is very useful to have a method to retrieve information of the state of the inside part of the pipes in order to detect damages, breaks and holes. Due to the di_erent types of pipes that exists, a modular approach with di_erent types of modules has been chosen in order to be able to adapt to the shape of the pipe and to chose the most appropriate gait. The micro-robot has been designed for narrow pipes, a _eld in which there are not many prototypes. The robot incorporates a camera module for visual inspection and several drive modules for locomotion and turn (helicoidal, inchworm, two degrees of freedom rotation). The control scheme is based on semi-distributed behavior control and is also described. A simulation environment is also presented for prototypes testing
Self-referenced characterization of space-time couplings in near single-cycle laser pulses
We report on the characterization of space-time couplings in high energy
sub-2-cycle 770nm laser pulses using a self-referencing single-shot method.
Using spatially-encoded arrangement filter-based spectral phase interferometry
for direct electric field reconstruction (SEA-F-SPIDER) we characterize
few-cycle pulses with a wave-front rotation of 2.8x?10^11 rev/sec (1.38 mrad
per half-cycle) and pulses with pulse front tilts ranging from to -0.33 fs/um
to -3.03 fs/um.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figure
Interplay between the magnetic anisotropy contributions of Cobalt nanowires
We report on the magnetic properties and the crystallographic structure of
the cobalt nanowire arrays as a function of their nanoscale dimensions. X-ray
diffraction measurements show the appearance of an in-plane HCP-Co phase for
nanowires with 50 nm diameter, suggesting a partial reorientation of the
magnetocrystalline anisotropy axis along the membrane plane with increasing
pore diameter. No significant changes in the magnetic behavior of the nanowire
system are observed with decreasing temperature, indicating that the effective
magnetoelastic anisotropy does not play a dominant role in the remagnetization
processes of individual nanowires. An enhancement of the total magnetic
anisotropy is found at room temperature with a decreasing nanowire
diameter-to-length ratio (d/L), a result that is quantitatively analyzed on the
basis of a simplified shape anisotropy model.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure
