Ime4 is the catalytic subunit of a conserved methyltransferase (MTase) complex found in yeast, S. cerevisiae. This complex is responsible for creating the RNA modification N6- methyladenosine (m6A), the most common post-transcriptional modification in higher eukaryotes. There is evidence to suggest that m6A is an important mediator of gene expression control within the cell and has been associated with a diverse array of phenotypic effects, notably as a conserved determinant of cell fate. The MTase complex is known to be a nuclear protein, the compartment where it is believed to carry out most of its methylation activity. Recently, the nuclear localization signals (NLS) of the subunits of the human MTase complex were experimentally identified, whereas the NLSs of the yeast MTase complex remain unknown. Spatial inhomogeneities in the sedimentation of biogenic particles in ocean flows: analysis in the Benguela region

Sedimentation of particles in the ocean leads to inhomogeneous horizontal distributions at depth, even if the release process is homogeneous. We study this phenomenon considering a horizontal sheet of sinking particles immersed in an oceanic flow, and determine how the particles are distributed when they sediment on the seabed (or are collected at a given depth). The study is performed from a Lagrangian viewpoint attending to the properties of the oceanic flow and the physical characteristics (size and density) of typical biogenic sinking particles. Two main processes determine the distribution, the stretching of the sheet caused by the flow and its projection on the surface where particles accumulate. These mechanisms are checked, besides an analysis of their relative importance to produce inhomogeneities, with numerical experiments in the Benguela region. Faster (heavier or larger) sinking particles distribute more homogeneously than slower ones.Comment: 24 pages, 8 figures. To appear in J. Geophys. Res.-Ocean

Tipos de celos en una comunidad universitaria

La presente investigación identifica el tipo de celos existentes en las relaciones de pareja de los estudiantes del Centro Universitario UAEM Zumpango de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, mediante la aplicación del instrumento CRS2 a 200 estudiantes. Los hallazgos muestran que el 35% de la población presenta celos sospechosos, es decir la conducta que manifiestan está basada en situaciones irracionales y pueden ser parte de una enfermedad mental a futuro; por lo que el 65% de la población se ubica en los celos reactivos, derivados de un hecho real. Estos datos son importantes, ya que contribuyen a pronosticar problemáticas como violencia en el noviazgo y “paranoia” celotípica

CONSTRUCCIÓN EMERGENTE DEL CONCEPTO: CUIDADO PROFESIONAL DE ENFERMERÍA

El objetivo del presente trabajo fue la construcción del concepto cuidado profesional de enfermería. Las aportaciones se encaminan a la dimensión profesional del campo de la ciencia de la enfermería. Es un estudio cualitativo con enfoque Hermenéutico, en 20 enfermeras, mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas a profundidad. El análisis fue de contenido. El cuidado profesional lo conceptualizan como el cuidado de la vida de las personas que solicitan sus servicios. Con ello, el hacer de la enfermera viene a ser un acto profesional y no un acto de buenas intensiones, con la obligación de asumir conductas de cuidado, que conlleva principios y normas establecidas por la disciplina. Las enfermeras entienden que se requiere de conocimientos constantes. La conceptualización del cuidado profesional que se apoya en la práctica, ofrece un acercamiento a la construcción de la Ciencia de la Enfermería
