Backgound: The relation between what students learn and what is evaluated has been a relevant issue in higher education, and a research topic that has caught health’s programs attention, especially in medicine. Objectives: The objective of this study was to design and validate an instrument that would allow to know and describe the strategies used by Medicine professors from El Bosque University, in Bogotá, Colombia, which strengthens its pe¬dagogical model of student centered learning based on the Institutional Learning Objectives (OIA), which must be evaluated to verify their achievement. This was done to evaluate the level of achievement of the students’ training competences. Methods: It was identified two categories that should make up the instrument: curricular references and evaluation of appropriation. Subsequently the level of content validity was described thought judges’ agreement based on the Lawshe model with modifications from Tristán y Molgado. Results: The results showed that the instrument designed allows measuring the categories and subcategories pro- posed and that the items provide valuable information about each of them. The developed test can be used for educational research purposes making the appropriate adjustments, according to the particular characteristics of the educational institution, the program and the research objectives. Conclusions: The instrument can be used for evaluation of achievement of the students’ training competences and for educational research. &nbsp

This article shows conceptual approaches to the curriculum and curriculum internationalization, taking into account current strategies such as the use of new technologies for higher education. Likewise, the results of interviews with teachers of the Bachelor of Childhood Education on how to implement the internationalization process from the classroom are presented. The most important results are: teachers cooperate with peers abroad promoting strategies such as classes with universities from abroad through virtual platforms, videoconferences, virtual exchanges and international references in the classes. Blogs, international bibliography, as well as international databases are also used. Regarding intercultural competence, it is also promoted through the inclusion of national intercultural references, such as indigenous people and their culture.

Nutritional value of a partially defatted and a highly defatted black soldier fly larvae (Hermetia illucens L.) meal for broiler chickens: apparent nutrient digestibility, apparent metabolizable energy and apparent ileal amino acid digestibility

Abstract Background The study aimed to determine the apparent total tract digestibility coefficients (ATTDC) of nutrients, the apparent metabolizable energy (AME and AMEn) and the amino acid (AA) apparent ileal digestibility coefficients (AIDC) of a partially defatted (BSFp) and a highly defatted (BSFh) black soldier fly larvae meal. The experimental diets were: a basal diet and two diets prepared by substituting 250 g/kg (w/w) of the basal diet with BSFp or BSFh, respectively. Results Significant differences were found between BSFp and BSFh meals for ATTDC of the nutrients: BSFp resulted more digestible than BSFh, except for ATTDC of CP which did not differed between meals, while a statistical trend was observed for ATTDC of DM and EE. The AME and AMEn values were significantly (P < 0.05) different between the two BSF meals, with higher levels for BSFp (16.25 and 14.87 MJ/kg DM, respectively). The AIDC of the AA in BSFp ranged from 0.44 to 0.92, while in BSFh they ranged from 0.45 to 0.99. No significant differences were observed for the AA digestibility (0.77 and 0.80 for BSFp and BSFh, respectively), except for glutamic acid, proline and serine that were more digestible in the BSFh meal (P < 0.05). Conclusions Defatted BSF meals can be considered as an excellent source of AME and digestible AA for broilers with a better efficient nutrient digestion. These considerations suggested the effective utilization of defatted BSF larvae meal in poultry feed formulation

Effect of dietary globin, a natural emulsifier, on the growth performance and digestive efficiency of broiler chickens

The feed utilisation of young chicks is characterised by a suboptimal fat digestibility, which can be improved by means of dietary emulsifiers. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of dietary Globin on the energy efficiency and digestibility of starter feeds and on the production performance of broilers throughout the whole rearing cycle. A total of 224-day-old ROSS 708 chickens (14 birds/pen, 8 replicates/treatment) were fed ad libitum with either a basal diet (C) or a basal diet with the addition of 0.05% Globin during the starter (d1–10), growing (d10–25) and finisher (d25–35) periods. Nutrient digestibility (aD), protein metabolisability (aMCP), energy efficiency (EE) and net energy for production (NEp) were assessed during the starter period. The average daily feed intake (ADFI), average daily gain (ADG), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) were measured of each growth period. Globin significantly decreased FCR (p = .020) and increased aDfat (p = .021), EE (p = .028) and NEp (p = .011) during the starter period. aMCP (p = .049) and PER (p = .039) were higher in the Globin group than in the Control group. The increased availability of energy from dietary fat, as a result of Globin supplementation, possibly shifted the use of the absorbed amino acids towards an anabolic metabolism, and this could explain the increased aMCP and PER but similar aDCP. The overall performance was similar between groups, although Globin tended to increase PER (p = .064) overall.Highlights Globin dietary supplementation was studied in broiler chickens. Globin improved digestibility and nutrient efficiency utilization in the first period. The overall performance was similar between groups
