    Abstract: This research aim to find out the effect of M. tanarius leaf methanol-water extract(MTME) whether it can lowering blood glucose levels. This research was experimental studywith one way-complete-random design using 25 male rats which divided into five groups. Therats in group I were given CMC 1% (negative control). The group II rats were given 0.45 g/kg BWdose of Glibenclamide (positive control). In group III, IV and V, the rats were given 0.43; 1.28;3.84 g/kg BW doses of MTME orally. The hypoglycemic effect of MTME was tested by using theOral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) method. The blood-glucose contents were measured at the0, 15, 30, 60, 90, 180, and 240 after the OGTT and treatment. The AUC were statisticallyanalyzed using one way ANOVA and Scheffe test with 95 % convidence level. The result show thatMTME at dose 0.43; 1.28; and 3.84 g/kg BW was effective in improving oral glucose tolerance.Keywords : Blood glucose, Methanol-water extract, Macaranga tanariu

    EVALUATION OF ANTIDIABETIC AND ANTI HYPERLIPIDEMIC ACTIVITIES OF MACARANGA TANARIUS IN RATS FEED WITH HIGH GLUCOSE-FRUCTOSE DIET

    Objective: Macaranga tanarius showed a potent α–glucosidase inhibitors that may benefit diabetes treatment. The hexane-ethanol fraction of methanol extract of Macaranga tanarius was investigated for antidiabetic, and anti hiperlidemia activity in rats feed with high glucose-fructose diet.Methods: After induced with high glucose-fructose diet for 42 d, the rats were treated with the hexane-ethanol fraction of methanol extract of Macaranga tanarius at doses of 34.2, 78.5, 137 mg/kg per oral once in a day for 5 d and high glucose-fructose diet consecutively. Fasting blood glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL and LDL concentration were evaluated at the next day after treatment.Results: The 5 d administration of hexane-ethanol fraction of methanol extract of Macaranga tanarius did not produce any significant difference in any of the assigned parameters between the diet and all dose groups.Conclusion: The hexane-ethanol fraction of methanol extract of Macaranga tanariusat all level has not antidiabetic and anti hiperlidemia activity in rats feet with high glucose-fructose diet.Â

    Abstract: The aim of this research is to investigate the protective activity of the infusion of seed ofPersea americana Mill. (IBPA) against carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity andnephrotoxicity in rats. Healthy rats were weighed and randomly divided into 6 groups of 5animals in each. Group 1 were treated with olive oil (2ml/kg, i.p) as negative control. Group 2received carbon tetrachloride (2 ml/kg, i.p.). Group 3 received IBPA 360.7 mg/kg once daily for 6hours (control of dose IBPA). Group 4-6 received IBPA at doses 360.7 mg/kg orally once for 1, 4and 6 hours respectively received treated carbon tetrachloride. Blood sample from all groupswas obtained by sinus orbitalis for the estimation serum transaminase and creatinine. Thepretreatment 1,4 and 6 hours of infusion of seed of Persea americana Mill. has a potent protectiveactivity upon carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatic and nephron damage in rats.Keywords: Persea americana Mill., infusion, protective, carbon tetrachlorid

    ANTI-INFLAMMATION EFFECTS OF BIOACTIVE FRACTION DLBS0533 CONTAINING PHALERIA MACROCARPA AND NIGELLA SATIVA ON ANIMAL MODEL

    Objective:  DLBS0533 extract is a bioactive fraction obtained from combination of Phaleria macrocarpa and Nigella sativa. This present study aims to observe its potentially anti-inflammatory activities using carragenaan-induced paw edema in mice as animal model.Methods:  Mice were divided into control, positive control and dose groups. Diclofenac potassium was used as a positive control. Treatment DLBS0533 was given at dose 39, 78 and 156 mg/kg body weight (b. w.). Edema thickness was examined for 6 hours.Results:  Reduction in edema is shown in 27.26%; 30.71% and 32.72% at dose of 39, 78 and 156 mg/kg b. w., respectively. Comparation between dose groups and positive control group show that dose 156 mg/kg b. w. did not give significantly different. Therefore, dose 39 and 78 mg/kg b. w. also gave anti-inflammatory activities proved by reduction in edema.Conclusions:  Taken together, DLBS0533 potentially have anti-inflammatory activities.Â

    Ketaatan Terapi Antihipertensi dengan Terkontrolnya Tekanan Darah pada Pasien Hipertensi Komorbid DM Tipe2 di Puskesmas Kabupaten Sleman

    Hipertensi dan diabetes melitus (DM) tipe2 seringkali terjadi secara bersamaan dan merupakan penyakit degeneratif, namun perburukan prognosis dapat dikendalikan dengan perubahan gaya hidup dan pengobatan. Ketaatan pasien terhadap terapi antihipertensi mempunyai peranan penting dalam manajemen terapi tekanan darah. Tingkat ketaatan terapi dihitung menggunakan metode MPR (Medication Possession Ratio) berdasarkan catatan pengobatan pasien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh ketaatan terapi antihipertensi dengan terkontrolnya tekanan darah pada pasien hipertensi dengan komorbid DM tipe2 di Puskesmas Kabupaten Sleman. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross-sectional dan pengambilan data menggunakan teknik non-probability dengan jenis purposive sampling. Sebanyak 116 pasien rawat jalan telah memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan responden didominasi oleh pasien perempuan, usia 60-70 tahun, tekanan darah terkontrol, overweight, tidak polifarmasi, dan menggunakkan BPJS PBI. Ketaatan berhubungan signifikan terhadap terkontrolnya tekanan darah (p-value 0,05). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa ketaatan terapi berpengaruh signifikan terhadap terkontrolnya tekanan darah pada pasien hipertensi dengan komorbid DM tipe2 di Puskesmas Kabupaten Sleman. Kata kunci : Ketaatan, MPR, Antihipertensi, Komorbi

    THE EFFECT OF PASAK BUMI ROOTS TOWARDS BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVEL IN GLUCOSE-LOADED MICE

    The aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of pasak bumi roots (Eurycoma longifolia Jack) towards the blood glucose level in glucose-loaded mice. The blood glucose-lowering effects were tested using Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) method. The mice were given with infusion of pasak bumi roots at the doses of 0.83; 1.67; 3.33 g/kgBW and methanol extract of pasak bumi roots at the doses of 102; 210; 420 mg/kgBW. All treatments were conducted orally, 30 minutes before the administration of glucose (2 g/kgBW). The blood glucose levels were measured at 0 minute before the administration of glucose and at 15, 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes after the administration of glucose. Blood samples were obtained through the mice tails vena lateralis using glucometer. The blood glucose levels result which were obtained at the 0 until 120 minutes were calculated to obtain AUC. AUV values of each treatment group were analyzed statistically. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the methanol extract of pasak bumi roots has blood glucose-lowering effect at the doses of 210 and 420 mg/kgBW, but infusion of pasak bumi roots does not have effects on lowering the blood glucose level in the glucose-loaded mice
