    In order to be used in formal health care systems, medicinal plants have to be safe and display promising pharmacological effects. Mahkota dewa is well known as a traditional medicine in Indonesia. In folk medicine, its fruits and leaves are used to relief cancer, impotency, hypoglycemic, hypotensive, antirheumatic, liver and kidney disorders and skin disorders. According to pharmacology and toxicology studies especially on cytotoxic effects, mahkota dewa has anticancer activity. However, further studies will be required to establish the cell target foranticancer treatment

    The aim of this research is to investigate the protective activity of the infusion of seed of Persea americana Mill. (IBPA) against carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity in rats. Healthy rats were weighed and randomly divided into 6 groups of 5 animals in each. Group 1 were treated with olive oil (2ml/kg, i.p) as negative control. Group 2 received carbon tetrachloride (2 ml/kg, i.p.). Group 3 received IBPA 360.7 mg/kg once daily for 6 hours (control of dose IBPA). Group 4-6 received IBPA at doses 360.7 mg/kg orally once for 1, 4 and 6 hours respectively received treated carbon tetrachloride. Blood sample from all groups was obtained by sinus orbitalis for the estimation serum transaminase and creatinine. The pretreatment 1,4 and 6 hours of infusion of seed of Persea americana Mill. has a potent protective activity upon carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatic and nephron damage in rats

    The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of “Tape” that has an alcoholic compound, to the hepatotoxic effect in the rat induced Carbon Tetrachloride. And also determine which fermentation time of the Tape can give effect to the hepatotoxic in the rat induced Carbon tetrachloride. Healthy rats were randomly divided into 7 groups of 5 animals in each. Group 1 received carbon tetrachloride 2ml/kgBW treated intraperitoneal. Group 2-4 were given “Tape” suspension 18g/kgBW once daily for 6 days with different fermentation time (3, 5, 7 days). Group 5-7 were given “Tape” suspension 18g/KgBW once daily for 6 days with different fermentation time and carbon tetrachloride was given on the 7th day. Blood sample from all groups was obtained by sinus orbitalis after 24 hours application for estimation the serum level oftransaminase. The result showed that “Tape” suspension had a potential effect to reduce the hepatotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride. “Tape” suspension with 5 days fermentation was significantly decreased serum level of transaminase (P<0,05) upon carbon tetrachlorideinduced hepatic damage in rats

    The decoction of avocado peels was tested for their hepatoprotective activity against carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity in rat. The rats were treated with the decoction of avocado peels at doses of 363; 762, 1600 mg/kg per oral once in a day for 6 days and carbon tetrachloride (2 mL/kg) was given on the 7th day. Different groups of rats were given water decoction of avocado peels at a dose of 363; 762, 1600 mg/kg and after 6 hours received carbon tetrachloride (2 mL/kg), respectively. The degree of protection was measured by using biochemical parameters like serum transaminase, alkaline phosphatase and albumin. From these results it suggested that the decoction of avocado peels 762, 1600 mg/kg for 6 hours has a potent hepatoprotective action upon carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatic damage in rats
