COMPUTATIONAL ANALYSIS OF HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT IN A CIRCULAR TUBE USING SEMICIRCULAR NOTCHED ROTARY TWISTED TAPE INSERTS

No full text
Heat transfer enhancement of air flow using twisted tape inserts in a circular copper tube have been investigated under turbulent flow regime. A simulation technique is employed to simulate the swirling flow of twisted tape insert with and without semi-circularnotch with three different pitch ratios (P/w = 3,4 and 5). The Reynolds number is varied in the range of 25000 to 35000. The heat transfer enhancement represented by a Nusselt number (Nu) in turbulent flow regime is investigated by using CFD (Ansys 16.0 FLUENT) to investigate the physical behaviourof the thermal and fluid flows under uniform heat-flux condition. Results shows that the semi-circularnotch twisted tape inserts develops a strong turbulence flow within fluid flow which increases heat transfer rate. The use of semi-circularnotch twisted tape lead to a considerable increase in heat transfer and pressure drop in comparison with the plane tube. The heat transfer rate increases with increase in Reynolds number and decrease in pitch ratio

Intra-oral lipoma

No full text
Lipomas are benign mesenchymal tumors that originate in mature fat cells, usually surrounded by a thin fibrous capsule. They are relatively rare in the oral cavity, accounting for 1% to 4% of all benign tumors and 0.5% to 5% of all benign oral cavity tumors. We present a case of a 60 year old male, who presented with a growth in lower left buccal mucosal region extending from mesial aspect of 35 to distal aspect of 36 that was treated by intra oral local excision. The purpose of this report is to highlight the existence of this rare but not uncommon disease and to emphasize that a high index of suspicion is needed in making a diagnosis. surgical excision as treatment is associated with an excellent outcome

A STUDY TO ASSESS AND CORRELATE THE MATERNAL PERIODONTAL STATUS WITH THEIR PREGNANCY OUTCOME

No full text
Background: This work attempted to ascertain if periodontal infection was a risk factor for preterm low birth weight (PTLBW) as well as whether it was possible to link periodontal infection prevalence to PTLBW. Aim of the Study: The aim of the research is to evaluate the seriousness of a pregnant woman's periodontal condition in the 2nd trimester as well as link it with the result of their pregnancy. Method: There were around 300 pregnant ladies in the data. information about the results of the current and past pregnancies. Obstetrics as well as dental risk factors were confirmed in medical reports of expectant mothers. Oral hygiene index (OHI), Clinical attachment level (CAL), and Probing pocket depth (PPD), Plaque index (PI), etc. were analysed. To calculate BMI, pregnant women's height and weight were evaluated. Results: Of the 300 pregnant ladies, 54 (18%) are under the age of 20. Out of 300 pregnant women, it was found that 58 (19.3%) had periodontal disease and 242 (80.7%) had gingivitis. The extent of periodontal disease, as well as PTLBW infants born to pregnant mothers, were shown to be significantly correlated. Conclusion: The periodontal status revealed that with increase in severity of periodontal disease progression there was increase in incidence of preterm delivery. The periodontal status revealed that with increase in severity of periodontal disease progression there was increase in incidence of low birth weight babies

Anaphylactic shock management in dental clinics: An overview

No full text
Anaphylaxis is among the emergency clinical events specifi cally related to local anaesthesia, leading to morbidity and mortality. Hence, our aim is to update knowledge of dental professionals about management of this entity with appropriate emergency management, by giving proper pharmacotherapy to prevent further auto immune reaction thus, saving their lives

A clinicopathological study of eyelid malignancies from central India

No full text
Background: Eyelid malignancies are completely treatable if detected early. The treatment depends on the invasiveness of the cancer which in turn depends on the type of malignancy. Aim: The aim of the study was to characterize the distribution of the types of eyelid malignancies in central India. Settings and Design: The study was conducted in the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery at a tertiary care hospital. Materials and Methods: We report a series of 27 cases of eyelid malignancies. In the same case series, we also include a case of malignant hemangiopericytoma which is an extremely rare form of eyelid malignancy worldwide. Statistical Analysis: Depending on the underlying statistical distribution, either analysis of variance (ANOVA) or the Kruskal-Wallis (K-W) test was used to assess the differential distribution of these variables across the types of eyelid malignancies observed in this study. Results: We observed that sebaceous cell carcinoma (~37%) was almost as prevalent as basal cell carcinoma (~44%) in the study subjects and had an earlier age of occurrence and a more rapid clinical course. Conclusions: Sebaceous cell carcinoma of the eyelid is almost as common as basal cell carcinoma in a large tertiary care centre in central India

Ectomesenchymal chondromyxoid tumor: A rare case report

No full text
Ectomesenchymal chondromyxoid tumor (ECMT) is a rare benign neoplasm of uncertain histogenesis, which exclusively involves the oral cavity, particularly the tongue. Clinically, it presents as slow growing, painless, firm, submucosal swelling exclusively occurring on the anterior dorsum of the tongue. Histopathologically, it comprised well circumscribed, unencapsulated lobular proliferation of fusiform and polygonal cells, with varying degree of cellularity, with neoplastic cells often seen in a myxoid, chondroid or hyalinized background. Until date, only 40 cases have been reported in the literature. Most documented lesions involve anterior tongue, however 2 cases in posterior tongue and one palatal tumor has been described. Here, we present a rare case diagnosed clinically and histopathologically as (ECMT) in a 7-year-old girl with the size of the lesion 5.0 cm making this case even rarer and throwing some light on this distinct entity
