Parameter Efficient Local Implicit Image Function Network for Face Segmentation
Face parsing is defined as the per-pixel labeling of images containing human
faces. The labels are defined to identify key facial regions like eyes, lips,
nose, hair, etc. In this work, we make use of the structural consistency of the
human face to propose a lightweight face-parsing method using a Local Implicit
Function network, FP-LIIF. We propose a simple architecture having a
convolutional encoder and a pixel MLP decoder that uses 1/26th number of
parameters compared to the state-of-the-art models and yet matches or
outperforms state-of-the-art models on multiple datasets, like CelebAMask-HQ
and LaPa. We do not use any pretraining, and compared to other works, our
network can also generate segmentation at different resolutions without any
changes in the input resolution. This work enables the use of facial
segmentation on low-compute or low-bandwidth devices because of its higher FPS
and smaller model size.Comment: Accepted at CVPR 202
Novel poly herbal muco-adhesive formulation for treatment of oral aphthous ulcer
Background: Oral ulcers are the most frequent lesions that cause discomfort for which the patients seek treatment for alleviating pain and facilitate early healing. Various treatment modalities from modern medicine and Ayurveda are used in the form of ointments and mouthwashes with varying efficacy. Anti-inflammatory medicines, enzymatic preparations, gamma globulins and immune suppressants have been used. Methods: Extracts of five chosen herbs, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Acacia catechu, Punica Granatum, Curcuma longa and Mentha piperita were used for preparing mucoadhesive gel for the treatment of oral aphthous ulcers of any etiology. Gel was prepared by cold method of Schmolka at M/s Pharmanza Herbals Pvt. Ltd., India. Five formulations were prepared with using different concentration of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) extracts. Results: Formulations were analyzed for different physical and chemical properties. Preliminary trial was done with five formulations. The F5 formulation has the premier viscosity because of its higher polymer content; it is able to remain on mucous surface long enough to release its API effect. Since the uniformity, proper appearance, stability and acceptable viscosity and gel strength the F1 formulation was selected as the superior formulation which could prove ideal for treatment of oral aphthous ulcers. Conclusions: The results provide strong evidence that polyherbal gel containing extracts of Glycyrrhiza glabra, Acacia catechu, Punica granatum, Curcuma longa and Mentha piperita on the basis of their analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, wound healing, antimicrobial and local anesthetic properties can be used as an effective and safe alternative for the management of aphthous ulcers
VGFlow: Visibility guided Flow Network for Human Reposing
The task of human reposing involves generating a realistic image of a person
standing in an arbitrary conceivable pose. There are multiple difficulties in
generating perceptually accurate images, and existing methods suffer from
limitations in preserving texture, maintaining pattern coherence, respecting
cloth boundaries, handling occlusions, manipulating skin generation, etc. These
difficulties are further exacerbated by the fact that the possible space of
pose orientation for humans is large and variable, the nature of clothing items
is highly non-rigid, and the diversity in body shape differs largely among the
population. To alleviate these difficulties and synthesize perceptually
accurate images, we propose VGFlow. Our model uses a visibility-guided flow
module to disentangle the flow into visible and invisible parts of the target
for simultaneous texture preservation and style manipulation. Furthermore, to
tackle distinct body shapes and avoid network artifacts, we also incorporate a
self-supervised patch-wise "realness" loss to improve the output. VGFlow
achieves state-of-the-art results as observed qualitatively and quantitatively
on different image quality metrics (SSIM, LPIPS, FID).Comment: 9 pages, 18 figures, computer visio
UMFuse: Unified Multi View Fusion for Human Editing applications
Numerous pose-guided human editing methods have been explored by the vision
community due to their extensive practical applications. However, most of these
methods still use an image-to-image formulation in which a single image is
given as input to produce an edited image as output. This objective becomes
ill-defined in cases when the target pose differs significantly from the input
pose. Existing methods then resort to in-painting or style transfer to handle
occlusions and preserve content. In this paper, we explore the utilization of
multiple views to minimize the issue of missing information and generate an
accurate representation of the underlying human model. To fuse knowledge from
multiple viewpoints, we design a multi-view fusion network that takes the pose
key points and texture from multiple source images and generates an explainable
per-pixel appearance retrieval map. Thereafter, the encodings from a separate
network (trained on a single-view human reposing task) are merged in the latent
space. This enables us to generate accurate, precise, and visually coherent
images for different editing tasks. We show the application of our network on
two newly proposed tasks - Multi-view human reposing and Mix&Match Human Image
generation. Additionally, we study the limitations of single-view editing and
scenarios in which multi-view provides a better alternative.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figure
Clinical, hematological and cytogenetic profile in fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 rearranged hematoloymphoid malignancies
The background of this study is FGFR1 belongs to a family of four, high-affinity receptor tyrosine kinase and is a legitimate oncogene associated with uterine, cervical, prostate, bladder, colorectal and lung cancers. It is rarely concomitant in myeloid and lymphoid neoplasms but has an aggressive clinical course with a high mortality rate when present. Cytogenetic abnormalities involving the FGFR1 gene is most frequently observed in AML, MPN with eosinophilia, T-ALL and T-LBL with ZMYM2 gene being the most common fusion partner. Methods of this study was to authors report a series of 4 cases with FGFR1 rearrangements. Results is three patients presented as T-cell Lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL) and one as mixed phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL). The T-LBL cases harboured the FGFR1/ ZMYM2 fusion and the MPAL case harbored the CNTRL/FGFR1 fusion as identified by conventional cytogenetics and confirmed by molecular studies. Conclusion is authors herewith describe the clinical, biochemical, molecular and cytogenetic features observed in these cases
Changes in autofluorescence based organoid model of muscle invasive urinary bladder cancer
Muscle invasive urinary bladder cancer is one of the most lethal cancers and its detection at the time of transurethral resection remains limited and diagnostic methods are urgently needed. We have developed a muscle invasive transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) model of the bladder using porcine bladder scaffold and the human bladder cancer cell line 5637. The progression of implanted cancer cells to muscle invasion can be monitored by measuring changes in the spectrum of endogenous fluorophores such as reduced nicotinamide dinucleotide (NADH) and flavins. We believe this could act as a useful tool for the study of fluorescence dynamics of developing muscle invasive bladder cancer in patients
