Shatpala Gandhaka Churna contains Shuddha Gandhaka, Shuddha Bhallataka, Shuddha Chitrakamula twak, Triphala, Vidanga, Trikatu, Trijataka, Chanaka, and Jeeraka. The main pharmaceutical procedures adopted in this study are Shodhana, Churna nirmana and preparation of capsule of Shatpala Gandhaka Churna. The specific pharmaceutical blend of these contents can result in a more effective formulation. Till now, no research work has been carried out to standardize this formulation. Therefore the present study has been planned to standardize the method of preparation of Shatpala Gandhaka churna according to the method explained in the classical literature.

A Generative Model For Zero Shot Learning Using Conditional Variational Autoencoders

Zero shot learning in Image Classification refers to the setting where images from some novel classes are absent in the training data but other information such as natural language descriptions or attribute vectors of the classes are available. This setting is important in the real world since one may not be able to obtain images of all the possible classes at training. While previous approaches have tried to model the relationship between the class attribute space and the image space via some kind of a transfer function in order to model the image space correspondingly to an unseen class, we take a different approach and try to generate the samples from the given attributes, using a conditional variational autoencoder, and use the generated samples for classification of the unseen classes. By extensive testing on four benchmark datasets, we show that our model outperforms the state of the art, particularly in the more realistic generalized setting, where the training classes can also appear at the test time along with the novel classes

Electrochemical analysis of austenitic stainless steel of type 304L SS in nitric acid medium

Austenitic stainless steels type 304L and 316L are largely used as structural materials for equipments handling nitric acid media in nuclear reprocessing plants. In almost all nitric media, these materials, protected by a chromium oxide rich layer, remain in their passive state. However, in some particular nitric media, their corrosion potential may be shifted towards their transpassive domain. The corrosion potential of the steel depends greatly on the cathodic reaction involved in the oxidoreduction process between the elements Fe, Cr, Ni of the steel and the oxidizing species of the medium. In this experiment, we have observed corrosion behavior of 304L SS by both electrochemical analysis and non-electrochemical analysis in different nitric acid concentrations such as 0.4M, 0.5M, 0.6M, 1M, 2M and concentrated solution. We measured corrosion rate and relation between corrosion current and corrosion rate by Tafel extrapolation method. Surface morphology of corroded surfaces were analysed by using AFM. The Micro hardness test was carried out to measure the hardness of both the non-corroded and corroded specimens. It is observed that the corrosion current density is inversely proportional to the corrosion potential and implies same pattern of corrosion tendency. The AFM results, we found that there is decreasing the density of pits on the surface by increasing concentration of nitric acid solution

Topology Consistency of Disease-specific Differential Co-regulatory Networks

    Get PDF
Background: Sets of differentially expressed genes often contain driver genes that induce disease processes. However, various methods for identifying differentially expressed genes yield quite different results. Thus, we investigated whether this affects the identification of key players in regulatory networks derived by downstream analysis from lists of differentially expressed genes. Results: While the overlap between the sets of significant differentially expressed genes determined by DESeq, edgeR, voom and VST was only 26% in liver hepatocellular carcinoma and 28% in breast invasive carcinoma, the topologies of the regulatory networks constructed using the TFmiR webserver for the different sets of differentially expressed genes were found to be highly consistent with respect to hub-degree nodes, minimum dominating set and minimum connected dominating set. Conclusions: The findings suggest that key genes identified in regulatory networks derived by systematic analysis of differentially expressed genes may be a more robust basis for understanding diseases processes than simply inspecting the lists of differentially expressed genes

THE VARIOUS FACTORS AFFECTING BHESHAJA MATRA (DOSE) AND THE IMPORTANCE OF DASAVIDHA PARIKSHA IN DECIDING THE PROPER MATRA

    Get PDF
The success of treatment depends on dosage, time and proper administration (Yukti). Every wise physician gives importance to these two factors Matra and Kala, where Matra is prime one. Aushadha is one among the four Chatuspada. If it is properly used in Samyak matra, it cures diseases. If it is used in Atimatra, it may harm body or excreted by Malamarga. Same way if it is used in Hina matra, may not be capable to cure the disease. It is the Matra only by which Visha becomes Amrta and vice versa Ausadha becomes Visha. The Matra depends on various factors like Dosha, Agni, Bala, Vaya, Vyadhi, Dravya, Bala, Satva, Desha and Kostha etc. To take maximum benefit of Ausadha one should have to consider these all above while examining the Atura. These can be correlated with modern Pharmacology factors like age, weight, surface area, and enzymatic action etc. These factors can be compiled in the Balacatustaya namely Dehabala, Agnibala, Chittabala and Rogabala.Dasavidha Atura Pariksha is most scientific, complete and competent approach to clinical examination, because it is integration of both Roga Pariksa and Rogi Pariksa. It elicits an accurate account of Vyadhibalapramana and set this against the background of Aturabalapramana, which helps in deciding proper Matra

Objectives: Urinary tract infection (UTI) affects 150 million people worldwide each year. The rise in the UTIs is attributed to multidrug-resistant pathogens for which there are minimal treatment options available. This has facilitated the reemergence of certain old antimicrobials such as fosfomycin trometamol (FT). It seems an alternative, but the evidence towards its therapeutic efficiency is scanty. The objective of the study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of single dose of FT in treating uncomplicated UTI and the resultant variations in the intensity of symptoms after the treatment. Methods: The study is a prospective, observational, and open-label study in the outpatient unit of the Department of General Medicine, RVM institute of Medical Sciences, for 6 months. The study comprises 50 patients among the age group of 18–70 years. Urinary Tract Infection Symptom Assessment questionnaire was used for the evaluation of symptoms pre and post treatment. After the diagnosis of uncomplicated UTI, patients were treated with single-dose of FT. Results: The study comprises 22 males and 28 females. After the treatment, there was a drastic improvement in the condition of patients. The severity level reduced and the quality of life improved post treatment and the results were statistically significant. Among 50 patients treated with the drug, 11 patients reported the side effect of diarrhea. Conclusion: Single dose oral Fosfomycin (3 g) regimen is effective in managing uncomplicated UTI with minimal side effects
