Panel threshold regression model analysis of real effective exchange rate impact on the Arab Maghreb Union economic growth

The purpose of this article was to explain the asymmetry of real effective exchange rate (REER) impact on economic growth for the Arab Maghreb Union during the period 1980-2019. This work sought to measure the adjustment rate of the exchange rate policy towards its equilibrium levels, justifying the use of nonlinear modelling. The complexity of the exchange rate dynamics has led to the application of the Panel Threshold Regression Model to test the hypothesis testifying for its effect on domestic economic growth. The empirical results reveal that the REER shows opposite effects below and over the estimated threshold. This highlights the asymmetrical effect of unforeseen shocks on its volatility. The significance of the study lies in its focus on promoting volunteerism among Students with Learning Disabilities (SLD). The study aimed to provide recommendations that help overcome the challenges faced by primary school role in promoting volunteering among SLD. The study used a mixed-method approach. Personal interviews were conducted with 20 parents of SLD, and a questionnaire was administered to 98 teachers of Learning Disabilities in primary schools in Al-Ahsa Governorate, Saudi Arabia. The study results are that the teacher's role held the highest importance in fostering volunteering among SLD in primary school, followed by the school administration role, and subsequently, the school curriculum, according to parents' Perceptions. There are significant challenges facing the role of elementary schools in promoting volunteer work among SLD, with the most important of these being personal, organizational, and then academic challenges, according to teachers' perspectives. The study does not identify significant differences in these challenges based on the teachers' perspectives, considering gender and years of experience

Total Factor Productivity Growth, Technological Progress and Technical Efficiency Changes: Productivity Change Dimensions in Tunisia

    Get PDF
In this study, we use the stochastic frontier production approach to split the total productivity growth sources into technical progress and technical efficiency changes of the economic sectors in Tunisia between 1961 and 2014. Based on the sectors’ evolution, the analysis is centred on the technological progress trend, the technical efficiency change, and the role of productivity change in the economic growth. The empirical results show that the production factors have a significant effect on productivity. The review of the total factor productivity growth sources reveals that the contribution of technological progress is the main source of this growth. JEL Classification Codes: C23, D24, L

Towards sustainable cities: E-waste Collecting Machine: A Conceptual Design

    Get PDF
Continuous development, keeping up with technology and increasing the production of multi-feature electronic devices are all factors that have increased the use of electronic devices all over the world. The accumulation of E-devices by individuals increases the amount of electronic waste that causes environmental pollution problems. Therefore, an innovative solution must be found that encourages people to give up old or damaged electronic items for recycling and benefit from their contents. An electronic waste collecting scheme that grants reward points to contributors and link the waste to recycling companies is suggested as an appropriate solution to attract people\u27s attention. The design of the electronic waste (E-waste) collecting machine and developing a business model are the main aims of this project, where spreading such innovative projects in the country will further spread the idea of sustainability, preserve the environment, and reduce pollution resulting from the accumulation of electronic waste
