Stacking dependence of carrier transport properties in multilayered black phosphorous
We present the effect of different stacking orders on carrier transport
properties of multi-layer black phosphorous. We consider three different
stacking orders AAA, ABA and ACA, with increasing number of layers (from 2 to 6
layers). We employ a hierarchical approach in density functional theory (DFT),
with structural simulations performed with Generalized Gradient Approximation
(GGA) and the bandstructure, carrier effective masses and optical properties
evaluated with the Meta-Generalized Gradient Approximation (MGGA). The carrier
transmission in the various black phosphorous sheets was carried out with the
non-equilibrium Greens function (NEGF) approach. The results show that ACA
stacking has the highest electron and hole transmission probabilities. The
results show tunability for a wide range of band-gap, carrier effective masses
and transmission with a great promise for lattice engineering (stacking order
and layers) in black phosphorous.Comment: 18 Pages , 10 figure
A Descriptive Study of Accessibility to Mobile Crisis Services
Mobile crisis services are seen as a secondary modality in provision of health care services. Past research indicated a lack of integration into the health care system and funding as obstructions. Accessing these services is limited to law enforcement, jails, emergency rooms, crisis line phone contacts, and providers. This research explored a mobile crisis service from greater Minnesota as a primary modality in health care services by examining who was accessing the service, voluntary or non-voluntary individuals in relation to hospitalization, and follow up and does this relationship vary by gender, utilizing the chi-square statistical test. Hospitalization and follow up in relation to types of accessibility showed no significant relationship. But the results indicated a significant relationship between types of accessibility, hospitalization, and follow up with using gender as a control variable. The implications of these findings for social work practice include: a) an increase in the number of social workers functioning within crisis services, b) a need for follow up after the initial contact is made 50% of the time, c) 2:1 gender difference in accessing mobile crisis services in greater Minnesota

Flight/ground sample comparison relating to flight experiment M552, exothermic brazing
Comparisons were made between Skylab and ground-based specimens of nickel and stainless steel which were vacuum brazed using silver-copper-lithium alloy with various joint configurations. It was established that the absence of gravity greatly extends the scope of brazing since capillary flow can proceed without gravity interference. There was also evidence of enhanced transport, primarily in that liquid silver copper alloy dissolves nickel to a much greater extent in the zero gravity environment
Echolocation by Quasiparticles
It is shown that the local density of states (LDOS), measured in an Scanning
Tunneling Microscopy (STM) experiment, at a single tip position contains
oscillations as a function of Energy, due to quasiparticle interference, which
is related to the positions of nearby scatterers. We propose a method of STM
data analysis based on this idea, which can be used to locate the scatterers.
In the case of a superconductor, the method can potentially distinguish the
nature of the scattering by a particular impurity.Comment: 4+ page
Electronic structure of an electron on the gyroid surface, a helical labyrinth
Previously reported formulation for electrons on curved periodic surfaces is
used to analyze the band structure of an electron bound on the gyroid surface
(the only triply-periodic minimal surface that has screw axes). We find that an
effect of the helical structure appears as the bands multiply sticking together
on the Brillouin zone boundaries. We elaborate how the band sticking is lifted
when the helical and inversion symmetries of the structure are degraded. We
find from this that the symmetries give rise to prominent peaks in the density

Local Phonon Density of States in an Elastic Substrate
The local, eigenfunction-weighted acoustic phonon density of states (DOS)
tensor is calculated for a model substrate consisting of a semi-infinite
isotropic elastic continuum with a stress-free surface. On the surface, the
local DOS is proportional to the square of the frequency, as for the
three-dimensional Debye model, but with a constant of proportionality that is
considerably enhanced compared to the Debye value, a consequence of the
Rayleigh surface modes. The local DOS tensor at the surface is also
anisotropic, as expected. Inside the substrate the local DOS is both spatially
anisotropic and non-quadratic in frequency. However, at large depths, the local
DOS approaches the isotropic Debye value. The results are applied to a Si
