Generational growing pains as resistance to feminine gendering of organization? An archival analysis of human resource management discourses
Guided by a feminist communicology of organization framework, we examine generational growing pains by analyzing discourses appearing in HR Magazine at three different points in time, which approximately mark the midpoint of Baby Boomers’, Gen Xers’, and Millennials’ initial entry into the workplace. We reconstruct historically situated gendered discourses that encapsulate key concerns expressed by human resource management professionals as they dealt with younger generations of workers: Personnel Man as Father Knows Best (1970), Human Resource Specialist as Loyalty Builder (1990), and Talent Manager as Nurturer (2010). We propose that frustrations expressed by older generations about Millennials may not be because Millennials are necessarily more demanding than their predecessors, but instead because their expectations reflect and effect gendered changes of organizing

Spray drying of emulsions: Influence of the emulsifier system on changes in oil droplet size during the drying step
The goal of this study was to investigate the influence of the emulsifier system on the changes in oil droplet size occurring during the drying step of spray drying of emulsions. Atomization and spray drying experiments were performed with emulsions stabilized with whey protein isolate (WPI) alone or in combination with low molecular weight emulsifiers (lecithin, mono- and diglycerides (MoDi), and citrem). Oil droplet coalescence was observed for the systems WPI/Citrem and WPI/MoDi, as the d increased from 0.86 ± 0.16 and 1.67 ± 0.35 µm after atomization to 1.83 ± 0.24 and 1.90 ± 0.17 µm after drying, respectively. Oil droplets stabilized with WPI or WPI/Lecithin remained stable during drying. Measurements of dilatational rheology of the interfacial film showed that phase angle values increase in the order WPI/Lecithin < WPI < WPI/Citrem = WPI/MoDi. Therefore, in the studied system oil droplet coalescence during drying increases when the elastic behavior of the interfacial film decreases
Sex-related differences in coronary and carotid vessel geometry, plaque composition and shear stress obtained from imaging
Atherosclerosis manifests itself differently in men and women with respect to plaque initiation, progression and plaque composition. The observed delay in plaque progression in women is thought to be related to the hormonal status of women. Also features associated with the vulnerability of plaques to rupture seem to be less frequently present in women compared to men. Current invasive and non-invasive imaging modalities allow for visualization of plaque size, composition and high risk vulnerable plaque features. Moreover, image based modeling gives access to local shear stress and shear stress-related plaque growth. In this review, current knowledge on sex-related differences in plaque size, composition, high risk plaque features and shear stress related plaque growth in carotid and coronary arteries obtained from imaging are summarized.</p
Scaling in a Nonconservative Earthquake Model of Self-Organised Criticality
We numerically investigate the Olami-Feder-Christensen model for earthquakes
in order to characterise its scaling behaviour. We show that ordinary finite
size scaling in the model is violated due to global, system wide events.
Nevertheless we find that subsystems of linear dimension small compared to the
overall system size obey finite (subsystem) size scaling, with universal
critical coefficients, for the earthquake events localised within the
subsystem. We provide evidence, moreover, that large earthquakes responsible
