4 Wynnes Boating Manufacturing Company: A Market Analysis and Business Plan for Northwest Arkansas
This thesis focuses on a business plan for the opening and developing of a boat manufacturing company in Northwest Arkansas and, specifically, manufacturing of duck hunting boats. South Arkansas and Eastern Arkansas have boat-manufacturing companies, but none exist in Northwest Arkansas. Having developed an interest in duck hunting over the years, I have discovered a tremendous need to bring the boats to where a large portion of Arkansas population exists. The objective of this business is to identify the Northwest Arkansas market viability for a customized duck boat manufacturing company. This analysis and evaluation is meant to provide a business prospectus for a successful and long-term company
Towards musical interaction : 'Schismatics' for e-violin and computer.
This paper discusses the evolution of the Max/MSP
patch used in schismatics (2007, rev. 2010) for electric
violin (Violectra) and computer, by composer Sam
Hayden in collaboration with violinist Mieko Kanno.
schismatics involves a standard performance paradigm
of a fixed notated part for the e-violin with sonically unfixed
live computer processing. Hayden was unsatisfied
with the early version of the piece: the use of attack
detection on the live e-violin playing to trigger stochastic
processes led to an essentially reactive behaviour in the
computer, resulting in a somewhat predictable one-toone
sonic relationship between them. It demonstrated
little internal relationship between the two beyond an
initial e-violin ‘action’ causing a computer ‘event’. The
revisions in 2010, enabled by an AHRC Practice-Led
research award, aimed to achieve 1) a more interactive
performance situation and 2) a subtler and more
‘musical’ relationship between live and processed
sounds. This was realised through the introduction of
sound analysis objects, in particular machine listening
and learning techniques developed by Nick Collins. One
aspect of the programming was the mapping of analysis
data to synthesis parameters, enabling the computer
transformations of the e-violin to be directly related to
Kanno’s interpretation of the piece in performance
Geomorphological similarity and uniqueness
Remote sensing technology, particularly the development of satellite imagery, has given geomorphology a valuable tool for the study of large area, regional landscapes. The small scale large area format of LANDSAT and other satellite imagery reduces the amount of detailed information provided for a given region. This can be an advantage for regional study as much of the local information that is filtered out tends to be detail which, while significant in small area studies, could mask regional patterns

Prediction techniques which can be or have been applied to subsonic rotors, and methods for designing helicopter rotors for reduced broadband noise generation are summarized. It is shown how detailed physical models of the noise source can be used to identify approaches to noise control
Space processing of crystals for opto-electronic devices: The case for solution growth
The results obtained during a six month program aimed at determining the viability of space processing in the 1980's of dielectric-elastic-magnetic single crystals were described. The results of this program included: identification of some important emerging technologies dependent on dielectric-elastic-magnetic crystals, identification of the impact of intrinsic properties and defects in the single crystals on system performance, determination of a sensible common basis for the many crystals of this class, and identification of the benefits of micro-gravity and some initial experimental evidence that these benefits can be realized in space. It is concluded that advanced computers and optical communications are at a development stage for high demand of dielectric-elastic-magnetic single crystals in the mid-1980's. Their high unit cost and promise for significantly increased perfection by growth in space justified pursuit of space processing
Design guide for helicopter transmission seals
A detailed approach for the selection and design of seals for helicopter transmissions is presented. There are two major types of seals presently being used and they are lip type seals and mechanical type seals. Lip type seals can be divided in conventional lip seals and hydrodynamic lip seals. Conventional lip seals can be used for slow-speed, low-pressure, low-temperature sealing. Hydrodynamic lip seals although they are as pressure and temperature limited as conventional lip seals, can operate at a higher speed. Mechanical types seals are comprised of face seals and circumferential seals. Face seals are capable of high speed, high pressure, and high temperature. Circumferential seals can be used in high-speed and high-temperature applications, but will leak excessively at moderate pressures. The performance goals of transmission seals are a life that is at least equal to the scheduled overhaul interval of the gearbox component and a leakage rate of near zero
