A flexible flight display research system using a ground-based interactive graphics terminal
Requirements and research areas for the air transportation system of the 1980 to 1990's were reviewed briefly to establish the need for a flexible flight display generation research tool. Specific display capabilities required by aeronautical researchers are listed and a conceptual system for providing these capabilities is described. The conceptual system uses a ground-based interactive graphics terminal driven by real-time radar and telemetry data to generate dynamic, experimental flight displays. These displays are scan converted to television format, processed, and transmitted to the cockpits of evaluation aircraft. The attendant advantages of a Flight Display Research System (FDRS) designed to employ this concept are presented. The detailed implementation of an FDRS is described. The basic characteristics of the interactive graphics terminal and supporting display electronic subsystems are presented and the resulting system capability is summarized. Finally, the system status and utilization are reviewed

The clustering and bias of radio-selected AGN and star-forming galaxies in the COSMOS field
Dark matter haloes in which galaxies reside are likely to have a significant
impact on their evolution. We investigate the link between dark matter haloes
and their constituent galaxies by measuring the angular two-point correlation
function of radio sources, using recently released 3 GHz imaging over $\sim 2 \
\mathrm{deg}^2z<1b = 1.5

Bandgap and effective mass of epitaxial cadmium oxide
The bandgap and band-edge effective mass of single crystal cadmium oxide, epitaxially grown by metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy, are determined from infrared reflectivity, ultraviolet/visible absorption, and Hall effect measurements. Analysis and simulation of the optical data, including effects of band nonparabolicity, Moss-Burstein band filling and bandgap renormalization, reveal room temperature bandgap and band-edge effective mass values of 2.16±0.02 eV and 0.21±0.01m0 respectively
Partition Function for (2+1)-Dimensional Einstein Gravity
Taking (2+1)-dimensional pure Einstein gravity for arbitrary genus as a
model, we investigate the relation between the partition function formally
defined on the entire phase space and the one written in terms of the reduced
phase space. In particular the case of is analyzed in detail.
By a suitable gauge-fixing, the partition function basically reduces to
the partition function defined for the reduced system, whose dynamical
variables are . [The 's are the Teichm\"uller
parameters, and the 's are their conjugate momenta.]
As for the case of , we find out that is also related with another
reduced form, whose dynamical variables are and .
[Here is a conjugate momentum to 2-volume .] A nontrivial factor
appears in the measure in terms of this type of reduced form. The factor turns
out to be a Faddeev-Popov determinant coming from the time-reparameterization
invariance inherent in this type of formulation. Thus the relation between two
reduced forms becomes transparent even in the context of quantum theory.
Furthermore for , a factor coming from the zero-modes of a differential
operator can appear in the path-integral measure in the reduced
representation of . It depends on the path-integral domain for the shift
vector in : If it is defined to include , the nontrivial factor
does not appear. On the other hand, if the integral domain is defined to
exclude , the factor appears in the measure. This factor can depend
on the dynamical variables, typically as a function of , and can influence
the semiclassical dynamics of the (2+1)-dimensional spacetime.

Spectral age distribution for radio-loud active galaxies in the XMM-LSS field
Jets of energetic particles, as seen in FR type-I and FR type-II sources,
ejected from the center of Radio-Loud AGN affect the sources surrounding
intracluster medium/intergalactic medium. Placing constraints on the age of
such sources is important in order to measure the jet powers and determine the
effects on feedback. To evaluate the age of these sources using spectral age
models, we require high-resolution multi-wavelength data. The new sensitive and
high-resolution MIGHTEE survey of the XMM-LSS field along with data from the
Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) and the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT)
provide data taken at different frequencies with similar resolution, which
enables us to determine the spectral age distribution for radio loud AGN in the
survey field. In this study we present a sample of 28 radio galaxies with their
best fitting spectral age distribution analyzed using the Jaffe-Perola (JP)
model on a pixel-by-pixel basis. Fits are generally good and objects in our
sample show maximum ages within the range of 2.8 Myr to 115 Myr with a median
of 8.71 Myr. High-resolution maps over a range of frequencies are required to
observe detailed age distributions for small sources and high-sensitivity maps
will be needed in order to observe fainter extended emission. We do not observe
any correlation between the total physical size of the sources and their age
and we speculate both dynamical models and the approach to spectral age
analysis may need some modification to account for our observations.Comment: 20 pages, 9 figure
