    Persepsi pelajar terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran aktif melalui kaedah gamifikasi bagi mata pelajaran perniagaan tingkatan 4

    Kajian ini dijalankan bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti persepsi pelajar terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran aktif melalui kaedah gamifikasi bagi mata pelajaran Perniagaan Tingkatan 4. Persepsi tersebut dilihat dari aspek faktor pelaksanaan iaitu guru, pelajar serta kandungan kurikulum mata pelajaran dan juga persekitaran pembelajaran iaitu persekitaran fizikal bilik darjah dan juga persekitaran psikososial. Kajian ini juga dijalankan bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan yang wujud antara faktor pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan persekitaran pembelajaran yang dominan. Kajian ini telah dilaksanakan di 14 buah sekolah menengah daerah Kluang. Seramai 410 orang responden daripada pelajar Tingkatan 4 yang mengambil mata pelajaran Perniagaan terlibat dalam kajian ini. Kajian ini berbentuk tinjauan dengan menggunakan borang soal selidik sebagai instrumen. Analisis deskriptif dan juga inferensi dijalankan menggunakan perisian Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) versi 15. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa aspek pengetahuan pelajar terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran aktif melalui gamifikasi berada pada tahap yang tinggi dengan nilai skor minnya ialah 3.894. Selain itu, faktor pelaksanaan yang dominan adalah dari aspek keberkesanan proses pengajaran guru dan juga minat pelajar. Persekitaran pembelajaran yang dominan pula ialah persekitaran fizikal bilik darjah dari aspek kelengkapan bilik darjah. Kajian ini juga mendapati bahawa wujudnya hubungan positif yang sederhana antara faktor pelaksanaan dari aspek keberkesanan proses pengajaran guru dengan persekitaran fizikal bilik darjah dengan nilai r ialah 0.437. Hubungan antara faktor pelaksanaan dari aspek minat pelajar pula menunjukkan hubungan positif yang lemah dengan persekitaran fizikal bilik darjah dengan nilai r ialah 0.234. Oleh itu, hasil kajian ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan prestasi pelajar di samping membantu guru untuk meningkatkan lagi keberkesanan pelaksanaan pembelajaran aktif melalui kaedah gamifikasi

Iris recognition system is a new technology for user verification. In this paper, the CASIA iris database is used for individual user’s verification by using support vector machines (SVMs) which based on the analysis of iris code as feature extraction is discussed. This feature is then used to recognize authentic users and to reject impostors. Support Vector Machines (SVMs) technique was used for the classification process. The proposed method is evaluated based upon False Rejection Rate (FRR) and False Acceptance Rate (FAR) and the experimental result show that this technique produces good performance

    Keystroke pressure based typing biometrics authentication system by combining ANN and ANFIS-based classifiers

    Security of an information system depends to a large extent on its ability to authenticate legitimate users as well as to withstand attacks of various kinds. Confidence in its ability to provide adequate authentication is, however, waning. This is largely due to the wrongful use of passwords by many users. In this paper, the design and development of keystroke pressure-based typing biometrics for individual user's verification which based on the analysis of habitual typing of individuals is discussed. The paper examines the use of maximum pressure exerted on the keyboard and time latency between keystrokes as features to create typing patterns for individual users. Combining both an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) are adopted as classifiers to verify the authorized and unauthorized users based on extracted features of typing biometric. The effectiveness of the proposed system is evaluated based upon False Reject Rate (FRR) and False Accept Rate (FAR). A series of experiment shows that the proposed system that used combined classifiers produces promising result for both FAR and FRR

    Iodine Deficiency Disorder and Goitre among School Children in Sarawak -A Nationwide Study.

    Iodine deficiency disorders (IDD), is one of the most important micronutrient deficiencies which has multiple adverse effects on growth and development. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of IDD among school children and to elucidate the distribution of iodized salt at household level in Sarawak, East Malaysia. This cross-sectional study was conducted among school children aged 8 to 10 years in 2008. A multi-stage probability proportionate to population size(PPS) cluster sampling method was used to obtain a representative state sample of 1200 school children. Spot urine samples were collected for the determination of urinary iodine concentration while the iodine content in salt was determined using field rapid test kits. The thyroid status was determined by palpation. Response rate was 92.0% (n=1104/1200). The prevalence of goitre among school children in Sarawak was 2.9% (5.2% in urban, 0.7% in rural). The median urinary iodine concentration (UIC) among the school children was 102.1 μg/L (IQR, 62.3-146.5 μg/L). Urban children had significantly higher median UIC of 109.3 μg/L (IQR, 72.4-159.0 μg/L) than their rural counterparts [91.9 μg/L (IQR, 55.7-140.2 μg/L)]. The salt samples tested by rapid test kit (RTK) showed only 46.0% of household salt contained iodine. The present study revealed that the population in Sarawak were of borderline iodine sufficient with mild IDD seen in rural areas. Hence, the state IDD control programmes need to encourage and advocate the consumption of iodized salt in order to eliminate IDD-related health problems in Sarawak

    Hubungan Penguasaan Konsep Fizik Dengan Minat Dan Kemahiran Belajar Dalam Kalangan Pelajar Fizik Di Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

    Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan penguasaan konsep Fizik dengan minat dan kemahiran belajar dalam kalangan pelajar Fizik Bahan dan Pendidikan Fizik. Responden yang terlibat dalam kajian ini adalah seramai 139 orang yang terdiri daripada pelajar Universiti Teknologi Malaysia program Sarjana Muda Sains Serta Pendidikan (Fizik) dan program Sarjana Muda Sains (Fizik Bahan). Alat kajian yang digunakan ialah set borang soal selidik yang mengandungi 21 item soalan menggunakan Skala Likert dan 14 soalan ujian penguasaan konsep Fizik. Nilai pekali kebolehpercayaan soal selidik yang diperoleh ialah ? = .86. Kajian mendapati terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara minat dengan amalan teknik belajar (r= 0.57,) dan tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara minat dan tahap penguasaan konsep fizik (r=0.14). Kajian juga mendapati wujud perbezaan yang signifikan dalam tahap penguasaan konsep Fizik antara pelajar berdasarkan purata nilai gred keseluruhan,(PNGK), (p=0.042) dan program pengajian,(p=0.008). Namun begitu, tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan dalam kemahiran belajar bagi kedua-dua jenis kumpulan sama ada berdasarkan PNGK (p=0.05) atau berdasarkan program pengajian (p=0.054)
