    A Preliminary Study Of Academicians’ Perception Towards Women PN Boards In Malaysian Public Listed Companies

    Gender diversity in the corporate board is still an issue for certain countries including Malaysia. The Malaysian Code of Corporate Governance (MCCG) 2017 anticipates 30% of women to be on the corporate board. However, recently the number of women on board reported is still lower. This study aims to examine the perception of academician towards women on board (WOB). The survey questionnaires were sent among academicians. The result indicates that the academicians believe that the appointment of women on boards will improve and enhance the companies’ performance. There are equal opportunities for men and women to be in management positions. The finding of this study will assist the policymakers and companies especially in formulating women policy to support the national agenda

    Awareness and perception of accounting students towards industrial revolution 4.0

    Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0 is currently at the world’s focus of attention. Initially, the IR 4.0 took placed in manufacturing industry. As time passed by, the implementation of IR 4.0 was spread widely among various types of industry including education. Thus, it is important for students to acquire knowledge on this matter as they will be heavily affected from this day onwards. The purpose of this paper is to examine the awareness on IR 4.0 among accounting students, and the focus is on undergraduate accounting students at Universiti Selangor (UNISEL). The questionnaire, which are categorised into awareness, perception and behaviour category, was distributed, and the data collected were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Findings show that majority of the students are aware and have heard about IR 4.0 but they lack of detail knowledge on the matter. Almost all of them have neutral opinion or unable to form concrete perception regarding various aspects of IR 4.0 and this is evidenced from the result of consistent number of mean for all variables of perception tested in the questionnaire. In terms of behaviour towards IR 4.0, the result shows that most of the students lack of exposure about IR 4.0 but they are keen to know more about it especially during their study period. Finally, recommendations to increase awareness and change the perception about IR 4.0 among students are made

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is an example of private sector practices developed and implemented in public sector organizations to improve the performance of public services delivery to its optimum level. This paper proposes a case study on one Local Governments (LGs) in Malaysia to investigate the organizational changes through the development and implementation of KPIs. New Institutional Sociology (NIS) under Institutional Theory shall be used to understand the various institutional pressures faced by the organization during the process of developing and implementing KPIs. This study is expected to provide understandings of the whole process of developing and implementing the process-based KPIs in the local government. Hopefully the study will point out new insights to the development of PMS in Malaysian local government from the perspective of NIS

    Key Performance Indicators, also known as KPI, help an organization to define and measure progress toward organizational goals. It is one of examples of private sector practice developed and implemented in public sector organizations to improve the performance of public services. The system is supposed to assist the government meeting its objectives as well as to make it become more accountable. This explanatory case study intends to investigate the evolution of performance management system in a Local Government (LG) in Malaysia. New Institutional Sociology (NIS) is used to understand the various institutional pressures faced by the organization during the process of developing and implementing KPIs. It has been found that KPIs were used as a complementary tool to the existing PMS practiced within the organization which is Annual Work Target (AWT). AWT which has become shared values within the organization, is still been using as the prime PMS despite of its drawbacks. Supposedly, KPIs being new PMS was to play its role to inculcate a high performance culture. The study has also discovered that the new PMS brought several changes to the individual, departments, and organization itself. Apart from that, the study was able to discover and point out the changes in organizational behavior among the organizational members through the implementation KPIs. This study gives a new insight to the Public Sector Accounting research by exploring the development and implementation of KPIs in a LG as well as the organizational changes within the organization
