Pengaruh Terapi Menulis Pengalaman Emosional Terhadap Penurunan Depresi Pada Mahasiswa Tahun Pertama

In the first year, college students will get the stressful events which related to leave parents and friends, also the transition of educational system and new home stay. The stressfulevents can cause negative of cognitive and emotional responses to college students. Therefore, it can cause depression on college student self. This research aims to test the effect writingabout emotional experiences therapy on reducing depression for the first year college students. Research design uses two matched groups design. Subjects (N=12) were divided intoexperimental group (n=6) or control group (n=6). The experimental group was instructed to write about emotional experiences in four writing sessions lasting ± 30 minutes. Outcomeswere measured at pretest, posttest, and follow up by Mixed ANOVA Design. Between Group ANOVA indicated the groups differed significantly on depression (F=25.88, p=.001). WithinGroup ANOVA indicated that experimental group reported significantly reduced depression at pretest, posttest, and follow up (F=33.72, p=.001). Post hoc test revealed that the repeatexperimental group reported significantly reduced depression at pretest-posttest (p=.003), posttest-follow up (p>0,33), and pretest-follow up (p<0,01). This result indicated that writingabout emotional experience therapy can reduce depression for first year college students

The use of personal protective equipment by swallow nest harvesters: an ethnographic study on safety behavior at Karangduwur BeachPurposeThe purpose of this study was to determine the behavior of traditional self-protection used by the swallow nest harvesters.MethodsThis research is a qualitative study with an ethnographic approach. The researchers participated in observing the behavior of bird swallow nest harvesters. The sample was chosen purposively based on the recommendation of the village head. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews and field observations. Secondary data were collected through document search on swiftlet nest download. The study was conducted from August-October 2016 with the instruments of interview guides, observation sheets and documents.ResultsDHarvesters used non-standard personal protective equipment. Downloaders tended to use traditional personal protective equipment, with the reasoning that using too much protection will interrupt the harvesting process. ConclusionThe use of personal protective equipment by harvesters is influenced by an interaction of factors between individuals and the environment and vice versa. The concerned agencies should pay close attention to the use of personal protective equipment used by Swallow's nest harvesters

Pursuance Emotion Dynamic on Diabetes Mellitus Patient

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood that called hyperglycemia. The high level of blood glucose in diabetic patients is result from defects in insulin action. Diabetes mellitus that uncontrolled can cause acute and chronic complication such as heart diseases, hyperglycemia coma, and hypoglycemia coma. Diabetes mellitus patient must do four things in diabetes management for controlling this disease: monitoring blood level, diet, exercise, and medication.Diabetes mellitus patient has more difficulties to follow dietary advice than other diabetes mellitus management. One of the reason for diabetes mellitus patient doesn\u27t comply to their dietary advice is their emotional state. Changing in his/her life style if they follow dietary advice can cause negative emotion and conflict on their selves.This research was qualitative research. The researcher used indepth interview as the main instrument.. The subjects were one woman and two men, age over 45 years old, and had been diagnosed diabetes mellitus for more than six months. Indepth interview with subject\u27s significant others, who guided subjects to do diabetes mellitus management became a way in triangulation. The results of this research showed that three subjects had negative emotion when they followed diet for the first time. They tried to regulate their emotion in order to get homeostatic emotion, so they could follow dietary advice successfully

Dukungan Sosial Pada Penderita Kanker

In Indonesia, death from cancer increase rapidly from year to year. So it is importent to give attention and serious intervention on the problem of cancer. This Study was designed to asses the relationship between social support and depression; to identity the social-support source which contributes the most to cancer patient; an to assessed the level of depression of the cancer patients. The subjects were 51 cancer patients of the radio therapy unit of the RSUP Dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta. The results show that there is a negative correlation between social support and depression. The result also suggests that 46.15% of the subjects are depressed, although they receive high social support (the highest support comes from spouses parents, and families)
