Global climate change causes sea level rise, and especially is affecting low lyingcoastal areas of the world. In the next century, it is estimated that climate change will raise the sea level approximately 1 meter. Gradually increasing impact of this event will cause especially the lower coastlines to retreat back to the land.Meanwhile, many coastal settlements will be invaded by the waves and beaches will face erosion. Residential areas of the western coasts of the Albania, is usually on low coast areas. A probable sea level rise scenario will have serious impacts oncoasts of Adriatic Sea of Albania. This paper focuses on sea level rise and its impacts on the coastal areas and coastline of the western coasts of the Albania. For this purpose, satellite images for the years 1985 and 2011 the coastal lines were obtained using Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing Techniques and change is determined for a period of 27 years

The empirical results confirm that there is strong relation between financial stress index and conflict hazard index for the E7 economies. The fundamental conclusion demonstrates the effects of the financial and conflict risks for the stock selection in the E7 economies by the criteria derived from the Financial Stress Index and Conflict Risk Index

A Low Cost Shading Analyzer and Site Evaluator Design to Determine Solar Power System Installation Area

    Get PDF
Shading analyzer systems are necessary for selecting the most suitable installation site to sustain enough solar power. Afterwards, changes in solar data throughout the year must be evaluated along with the identification of obstructions surrounding the installation site in order to analyze shading effects on productivity of the solar power system. In this study, the shading analysis tools are introduced briefly, and a new and different device is developed and explained to analyze shading effect of the environmental obstruction on the site on which the solar power system will be established. Thus, exposure duration of the PV panels to the sunlight can be measured effectively. The device is explained with an application on the installation area selected as a pilot site, Denizli, in Turkey

Investment Climate, Economic Recovery and Reconstruction Process: The Bosnian Case

    Get PDF
Following the Dayton Accord in 1995, Bosnia and Herzegovina's economic infrastructure and 90% of its assets were destroyed according to World Bank estimates, and the estimated cost of this is about $20 billion. By the end of the war, the unemployment rate reached 90%. The World Bank and Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) had an active role in the region to restructure the economy, and the unemployment ratio declined to around 30% following rapid economic growth. Studies illustrate that conflict, by its very nature, negatively affects the investment climate and the prosperity of the country. There is also a link between the unsatisfactory income levels and the risk of future conflicts. At conflict areas in the Balkans, international military action ensured short-term peace and stability particularly in Bosnia and Kosovo although long-term security and peace require economic stability and an active economic restructuring. In this study, the economic recovery and restructuring of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been analysed and the difficulties for the private sector are discussed. In addition to this, the contributions of the World Bank and NGOs in the recovery process are evaluated
