Modeling Road Traffic Fatality Cases in Ghana.
Road traffic fatalities are of major concern in Ghana. According to the annual report of National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), 2,047 road traffic fatality cases were recorded in the year 2007 which is an increase of 29.5% over that of the year 2000 (NRSC, 2007 Report). Relative to the year 2001(NRSC, 2001) the 2010 figures for fatal crashes and fatalities also recorded corresponding increases of 34.1% and 19.6% respectively. Using annual road fatality data for the period 1991-2011 from the National Road Safety Commission and Building and Road Research Institute (BRRI) in Ghana, the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model has been utilized to study the trend and pattern of road fatalities in Ghana. The results showed that road traffic fatalities in the country increased over the period of study. Moreover, a forecasting approach indicates that road traffic fatalities would continue to increase over the next five years. Keywords: Accident, Autoregressive (AR), Moving average (MA) and ARIMA
Effect of sodium bicarbonate and sodium bentonite on digestion and rumen fermentation characteristics of forage sorghum silage-based diets fed to growing steers
One percent sodium bicarbonate (NaHCo3) increased intake of a 50% silage - 50% grain diet, but had no effect on intake of a full-feed sorghum silage diet. The addition of concentrate (rolled milo) slightly lowered rumen pH and decreased acid detergent fiber (ADF) and starch digestion. NaHC03 had no effect on digestibility, but 2% bentonite lowered digestibility of NDF and ADF. Radio Source Heating in the ICM: The Example of Cygnus A
One of the most promising solutions for the cooling flow problem involves
energy injection from the central AGN. However it is still not clear how
collimated jets can heat the ICM at large scale, and very little is known
concerning the effect of radio lobe expansion as they enter into pressure
equilibrium with the surrounding cluster gas. Cygnus A is one of the best
examples of a nearby powerful radio galaxy for which the synchrotron emitting
plasma and thermal emitting intra-cluster medium can be mapped in fine detail,
and previous observations have inferred possible shock structure at the
location of the cocoon. We use new XMM-Newton observations of Cygnus A, in
combination with deep Chandra observations, to measure the temperature of the
intra-cluster medium around the expanding radio cavities. We investigate how
inflation of the cavities may relate to shock heating of the intra-cluster gas,
and whether such a mechanism is sufficient to provide enough energy to offset

Detailed study of BBN implications of neutrino oscillation generated neutrino asymmetries in some four neutrino models
We re-examine the evolution of neutrino asymmetries in several four neutrino
models. The first case involves the direct creation of by oscillations. In the second case, we consider the mass
hierarchy where oscillations generate a large and some of
this asymmetry is converted into by oscillations. We estimate the implications for BBN for a range of
cosmologically interesting values. The present paper improves on
previous published work by taking into account the finite repopulation rate and
the time dependence of the distortions to the neutrino momentum distributions.

One Loop Multiphoton Helicity Amplitudes
We use the solutions to the recursion relations for double-off-shell fermion
currents to compute helicity amplitudes for -photon scattering and
electron-positron annihilation to photons in the massless limit of QED. The
form of these solutions is simple enough to allow {\it all}\ of the
integrations to be performed explicitly. For -photon scattering, we find
that unless , the amplitudes for the helicity configurations (+++...+) and

Evidence for geometry-dependent universal fluctuations of the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang interfaces in liquid-crystal turbulence
We provide a comprehensive report on scale-invariant fluctuations of growing
interfaces in liquid-crystal turbulence, for which we recently found evidence
that they belong to the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) universality class for 1+1
dimensions [Phys. Rev. Lett. 104, 230601 (2010); Sci. Rep. 1, 34 (2011)]. Here
we investigate both circular and flat interfaces and report their statistics in
detail. First we demonstrate that their fluctuations show not only the KPZ
scaling exponents but beyond: they asymptotically share even the precise forms
of the distribution function and the spatial correlation function in common
with solvable models of the KPZ class, demonstrating also an intimate relation
to random matrix theory. We then determine other statistical properties for
which no exact theoretical predictions were made, in particular the temporal
correlation function and the persistence probabilities. Experimental results on
finite-time effects and extreme-value statistics are also presented. Throughout
the paper, emphasis is put on how the universal statistical properties depend
on the global geometry of the interfaces, i.e., whether the interfaces are
circular or flat. We thereby corroborate the powerful yet geometry-dependent
universality of the KPZ class, which governs growing interfaces driven out of

Numerical Solutions of ideal two-fluid equations very closed to the event horizon of Schwarzschild black hole
The 3+1 formalism of Thorne, Price and Macdonald has been used to derive the
linear two-fluid equations describing transverse and longitudinal waves
propagating in the two-fluid ideal collisionless plasmas surrounding a
Schwarzschild black hole. The plasma is assumed to be falling in radial
direction toward the event horizon. The relativistic two-fluid equations have
been reformulate, in analogy with the special relativistic formulation as
explained in an earlier paper, to take account of relativistic effects due to
the event horizon. Here a WKB approximation is used to derive the local
dispersion relation for these waves and solved numerically for the wave number
