The Voices of Graduates: Informing Faculty Practices to Establish Best Practices for Readying NCLEX-RN Applicants
Changes in the National Council of State Boards of Nursing along with other factors influence graduatesâ successful completion of a nursing program and the licensing examination. Literature is scarce in the area of examining stu-dent perceptions of preparing for and taking the NCLEX-RN examination. Our study sought to fill this gap in knowledge by conducting a focus group and interviews with individuals who passed the NCLEX-RN on their first at-tempt and those who did not. This was a descriptive qualitative study which used semi-structured interviews and a focus group to examine graduatesâ perceptions related to preparing for and taking the NCLEX-RN. Four themes emerged from the data: messages from faculty, preparation strategies, exam readiness, and the disconnection between pretest and intra-test experiences. Findings point towards the importance of implementing a variety of strate-gies to ensure that graduates successfully pass the NCLEX-RN

Taking It All Off: A Content Analysis Study of ESPN's Body Issue, 2009-2013
This thesis explores relationships between gender, nudity, and provocativeness in the photographs in
The Body Issue of ESPN The Magazine, released yearly from 2009 to 2013. The Body Issue was launched
to boost revenue through increased advertising and readership. The Body Issue contains photographs
of male and female professional athletes in varying states of nudity, to pay homage to the daily
sacrifices athletes make to keep their bodies in incredible shape for maximum performance. The
method of research used in this thesis was a content analysis study. The goal of my research was to
be able to objectively analyze various aspects of the photographs across the five-Ââyear period.
I designed the content analysis study to code the 141 total photographs for 19 variables clearly
defined in a coding sheet. The purpose of the coding process was to be able to quantify the
photographs so that trends and patterns among variables could be determined. Although 19 variables
were coded for each photograph, my research was primarily focused on examining the relationships
between gender and race, gender and exposure/nudity rating, and gender and provocative level.
Overall, I hypothesized that over the five-Ââyear period, the exposure rating and provocative
level would gradually increase for both genders to be a majority of fully nude ratings and high
provocative levels, yet there would be a difference in when these shifts occurred between genders.
Through my content analysis study, I found that there was a shift to full nudity for both genders
after 2009. Regarding provocative level, females shifted almost immediately to a majority of high
provocative level after 2009, while males shifted to a majority of medium provocative level
throughout the five-Ââyear period. These findings reflect societally constructed gender
stereotypes that are sustained through the media.Bachelor of Art
GLOBAL AGRICULTURAL REFORM AND U.S. AGRICULTURAL ADJUSTMENT CAPACITY
This paper focuses on U.S. agriculture response to policy reform. A growing body of empirical literature describes the potential aggregate gains for the U.S. markets if global agricultural tariffs and subsidies can be further reduced (USDA, 2001; World Bank, GEP 2002; Tokarick, 2003). These gains are based on an aggregation of expected responses at the micro-level, by firms and households, to changing market conditions. Some of them will be "gainers" whose current economic activities and assets will benefit from the new opportunities presented by policy reform. Some will be "losers" who are adversely affected by the reduction or loss of subsidies or import protection.Agricultural and Food Policy,
Aquatic Vegetation, Largemouth Bass and Water Quality Responses to Low-Dose Fluridone Two Years Post Treatment
Whole-lake techniques are increasingly being used to selectively
remove exotic plants, including Eurasian watermilfoil
(
Myriophyllum spicatum
L.). Fluridone (1-methyl-3-phenyl-
5-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4(1
H
)-pyridinone), a systemic
whole-lake herbicide, is selective for Eurasian watermilfoil
within a narrow low concentration range. Because fluridone
applications have the potential for large effects on plant assemblages
and lake food webs, they should be evaluated at
the whole-lake scale. We examined effects of low-dose (5 to 8
ppb) fluridone applications by comparing submersed plant
assemblages, water quality and largemouth bass (
Micropterus
salmoides
) growth rates and diets between three reference
lakes and three treatment lakes one- and two-years post treatment.
In the treatment lakes, fluridone reduced Eurasian watermilfoil
cover without reducing native plant cover, although
the duration of Eurasian watermilfoil reduction varied among
treatment lakes. (PDF has 11 pages.
