Monoethanolamine (MEA) is a conventional absorbent used for CO2 capture in the industry. However, MEA has limited CO2 absorption capacity. Moreover, high energy input is required to separate CO2 from MEA after the absorption process. In this study, the CO2 desorption process was eliminated through integration of CO2 capture and utilization. The high energy requirement during CO2 utilization can also be reduced through the integration process. The performance of 3-dimethylaminopropylamine (DMAPA) neutralized with glycine as potential absorbent for CO2 capture was evaluated in this study by measuring the CO2 loading capacity of the absorbent. The physical properties of the absorbent were evaluated by measuring the density, viscosity, refractive index, and surface tension of the absorben

The surgical experience and hospital environment is an anxiety-provoking event. Pain and anxiety are the most common distressing adverse effects in the early postoperative period. Routine pharmacologic Methods may impair the recovery of patients for their sedative and emetic effects. Therefore, patients’ relaxation is the cornerstone for a successful post operative pain & anxiety managements and it is among the interventions addressed to improve physiologic response. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of zikr meditation and Jaw relaxation on reducing postoperative pain, anxiety and physiologic response. the study hypothesized that Patients who practiced zikr meditation & Jaw relaxation exercise  in experimental group have less pain, anxiety and physiologic parameter than in control group & pre intervention .the study was conducted at  The findings of the present study showed that patients undergoing surgery who practice zikr meditation & jaw relaxation have significantly lower subjective indices of anxiety and pain, after following the guideline of Zikr meditation & jaw relaxation practice. However, the study showed that there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the physiological responses. These responses included the systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate.  These findings imply a possible benefit of such guideline in improvement of the delivery of efficacious nursing management that decreases pain severity and anxiety for patient undergoing surgery. Therefore, zikr meditation & jaw relaxation therapy could be incorporated into clinical practice as a routine nursing intervention before and after abdominal surgery. Using a new programme (THERCOM) to predict thermal comfort as a base to design energy efficient buildings

    Get PDF
A strong relationship relates the thermal comfort and the consumption of energy, especially in the hot arid climate where the installation of HVAC systems is unavoidable. In fact, it has been reported that the HVAC systems are responsible for consuming huge amounts of the total energy used by the buildings that can globally reach up to 40% of the total primary energy requirement. The future estimations indicate that the energy consumption is likely to continue growing in the developed economies to exceed that of the developed countries in 2020. Under these situations, it seems that the shift towards more energy efficient buildings is not an option. Because part of any successful environmental design is to understand the potentials of the site, the proposed programme (THERCOM) assists in weighing the indoor and outdoor thermal comfort in different climates in order to provide better understanding of the site environment as well as testing the thermal comfort chances of the initial concepts

This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. This thesis presents health care organizations as heterogenic and highly complex in nature with particular normative structures underpinning their formal rational structures. It seeks to explore the evolution of organization structure as applied to a medical corporation in Qatar and to examine the nature of organizational culture and multi professional cohesiveness. In doing so it assesses a range of models on organizational design and change. The three hospitals that compose the corporation are investigated through triangulated interpretative qualitative and quantitative methodologies and the application of the Competing Values Framework. The comprehensive approach of the investigation resulted in a series of conclusions on the evolution of hospital organizational structures, the link between life cycle and structure, forms of organizing health services, characertistics of professional structures, the nature and success of change management strategies, coordination mechanisms, organizational and professional cultures, and health service, organizational and team effectiveness assessment. Findings demonstrated that autonomous and sometimes conflicting professions worked in harmony and cohesiveness as a consequence of shared core values and the human relations focus of health organizations. In examining organizational design it showed that coordination mechanisms were preferred to integration mechanisms with the former playing an important role in conflict resolution and human relations. Finally, findings indicated that when organizational design has shortcomings, the organization substitutes through other mechanisms.Government of the State of Qatar; Ministry of Education, Qatar; Hamad Medical Corporatio

Sexuality is an important part of normal human functioning. Gynecological cancer diagnosis and treatment has devastating effect on Sexual issues. Study aim was to investigate Oncology Nurses knowledge and attitudes in Relation to Provision of Sexual Health Care to Women Diagnosed with Gynecological Cancer. The study setting was conducted at oncology center, at Mansoura University Hospitals after obtaining hospital director approval. A Subject was consisted of 72 nurses who worked in gynecological oncology department. Tools: four tools were used by the researchers to collect pertinent data consisted of 1st The Self Administered Structured Schedule, 2nd tool, Sexual Health Care Scale–Attitude, 3rd tool, Facilitators about Sexuality Issue Discussion in nursing practice and 4th tool, Barriers about Sexuality Issue Discussion in Nursing Practice. Results revealed that 100% of nurses were having poor knowledge score regarding sexual health care with mean score 7.3 ±2.5. There was statistically significant relation between knowledge score and discomfort in providing sexual health care and Afraid of college’s negative response (P< 0.05). While there were no statistical significant relation between knowledge score and Feeling uncertain about patient’s acceptance and Lack of environmental support (P> 0.05). Majority of nurses reported that limited resources, patient embarrassment, staff shortages, patients having more things to be concerned about than having sex, inadequate education preparation, are the most important barriers to provide health sexual education. Provisions of relevant training, availability of private environment, having good nurse patient relationship, good communication are factors which facilitate provision of sexual health care. Conclusion oncology nurses have poor knowledge score and decrease feeling of discomfort domain was the most representative nurses attitude in provision of sexual health care, there are many of issues act as barriers and facilitators affecting nurses for providing sexual health care. Recommendations It is important  to put sexual health education into the curriculum of nursing, in order to assess the sexual health of patients within the health care system, continuing education activities and availability of education materials could assist nurses to adequately address sexual concerns while caring for patients with cancer and More research is needed on training of the nurses to overcome the barriers and guidelines or procedures in place for dealing with sexuality-related issues with patients.
