    Synthesis of Bioactive Yttrium-Metal–Organic Framework as Efficient Nanocatalyst in Synthesis of Novel Pyrazolopyranopyrimidine Derivatives and Evaluation of Anticancer Activity

    Novel Yttrium-metal–organic framework (Y-MOF) was synthesized under optimal conditions of microwave with a power of 20 W, the temperature of 30 degrees of centigrade, and time duration of 10 min. The products were characterized by SEM (morphology and size distribution), TGA (thermal stability), BET technique (surface area), and FTIR (characterization of the related group). The Yttrium-metal–organic framework (Y-MOF) synthesized in this study, after identifying and confirming the structure, was used as an efficient and recyclable catalyst in the synthesis of new pyrazolopyranopyrimidine derivatives. Following the study of the properties and applications of Y-MOF, its anticancer properties on breast cancer cells based on the MTT method were evaluated, and significant results were observed.     An investigation of the effect of smoking, alcohol, and drug use on male infertility

    Background: Infertility in men has increased in recent years. Numerous physical, chemical, biological, and social factors are known to play a role in reducing semen quality, in between, there are high-risk behaviors that affect the quality of semen. In this paper, the effects of three factors: smoking, alcohol consumption, and drugs have been investigated. Methods: This case-control study was performed from June to September 2021 on 500 people, 250 people with normal semen quality and 250 people with defective semen quality. The data collection tool was a questionnaire made by researchers and semen test results. Finally, the collected data were analyzed by descriptive method with SPSS software. For quantitative variables, mean and standard deviation (SD) were used, while frequency and percentage reports were used for qualitative variables. Results: Drug use had a significant relationship with the shape and motility of sperm (B = -0.675, P = 0.005). The chance of natural semen decreases by 0.506 times with an increase of one drug use unit; moreover, the older the age of onset of drug use, the more the semen disorders (B = 0.514, P = 0.002).. Conclusion: Smoking and alcohol consumption were not identified as factors affecting semen quality, but there was a significant relationship between drug use and age of onset and semen disorders

    Background: A multi-gene inherited metabolic illness in which the body is unable to produce enough insulin and is characterized by abnormal glucose homeostasis has been now called Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of CAT-21 A/T (rs7943316) gene polymorphism and antioxidant index (AOI) in the Iraqi patients with T2DM. Methods: In general, 135 individuals, 90 T2DM patients and 45 healthy control were employed in this research. The spectrophotometer method were used to assessment of  TAO-C and MDA levels (antioxidant index TAO-C/MDA), while CAT-21 A/T (rs7943316) SNPs was an estimate by PCR-RFLP and restriction fragments by Hinf1 enzyme restriction.  Results: In this study, the results propose profoundly tremendous contrasts in TAO-C, MDA, and AOI levels among T2DM and the benchmark group (p-value< 0.05). Then again, the outcomes propose the profoundly bad relationship (r=-0.765) between the periods of the T2DM bunch with TAO-C as well as, we tracked down an exceptionally certain connection (r=0.556) between the times of the T2DM bunch with MDA levels.     Bonding Properties of AA1050 Strips Fabricated Via Electrically Assisted Roll Bonding (EARB) Process

    In this study, aluminium alloy 1050 strips were bonded together using the electrically assisted roll bonding process (EARB) at electric current levels from 0 A up to 300 A. The effect of electric current level and plastic strain as the two main EARB parameters have been investigated on bonding strength by using the peel test. Results showed that by increasing the electric current level and reduction in thickness, stronger bonding strength can be obtained. Scanning electron microscopy was utilized to characterize the peeled surfaces of samples versus different thickness reduction ratios and electric current levels. Decreasing the forming strength of strips and increasing the bond strength of bonded strips about three times due to Joule heating effect in the EARB process was achieved. Moreover, by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the peeled surfaces of samples after the peel test have been studied to investigate the bonding quality

    Association of cord blood asprosin concentration with atherogenic lipid profile and anthropometric indices

    BACKGROUND: Elevated lipids in umbilical cord blood affect fetal programming, leading to a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease in later life. However, the causes of changes in the lipid profile of umbilical cord blood are not clear yet. This study aimed for the first time to determine the association of asprosin concentration with TAG, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C concentrations and TAG/HDL-C, TC/HDL-C, LDL-C/HDL-C and non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio in umbilical cord blood as well as newborn anthropometric indices. This cross-sectional study was based on 450 mother- newborn pairs of a birth cohort study in Sabzevar, Iran. Multiple linear regression was used to estimate the association of lipid concentration and lipid ratios as well as birth weight (BW), birth length (BL), head circumference (HC) and chest circumference (CC) with asprosin in cord blood samples controlled for the relevant covariates. RESULT: In fully adjusted models, each 1 ng/mL increase in asprosin was associated with 0.19 (95% CI 0.06, 0.31, P < 0.01), 0.19 (95% CI 0.10, 0.29, P < 0.01), 0.17 (95% CI 0.09, 0.25, P < 0.01), 0.17 (95% CI 0.09, 0.25, P < 0.01), 0.01 (95% CI 0.00, 0.013, P < 0.01), 0.01 (95% CI 0.01, 0.01, P < 0.01), 0.01 (95% CI 0.01, 0.01, P < 0.01) and 0.01 (95% CI 0.01, 0.01, P < 0.01) increase in TAG, TC, LDL-C, TAG/HDL-C, TC/HDL-C, LDL-C/HDL-C and non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio respectively. Moreover, higher asprosin levels was positively associated with newborn BW, BL, HC and CC; however, these associations were not statistically significant. CONCLUSION: Overall, our findings support the positive association between cord asprosin concentration and the development of atherogenic lipid profile in newborns. Further studies are needed to confirm the findings of this study in other populations
