    Student’s attendance system using QR code

    The purpose of this project is to develop a system that can record the presence of students using QR code. Previously, teachers needed to use paper to record student attendance. There are many problems that arise when teachers use paper as a record of student attendance such as a loss of attendance record and have been taken a long time. The objective of the study is to design a prototype interface of student attendance system using QR code and casing of QR code scanner, to build up the design the prototype interface of student attendance system using QR code and casing of QR code scanner and test the functionality the prototype of interface student attendance system using QR code and casing of QR code scanner. The interface for this system will be integrated with the LabVIEW Software to develop a database. This system can record the attendance of the student to school and a warning letter will be automatically generated when the student does not come to school in 2 days repeatedly. The development process of the Student Attendance System Using QR Code is based on the Prototype Development Model that consists of a five-phase model, that is planning, analysis, design, Prototype development, and testing. The design of casing for QR code scanner was developed using Sketchup software. LabVIEW Software is used to generate interface displays and built-in databases using Microsoft Excel. Overall, the system that has been developed can work well and achieves the objectives set

    Pembelajaran kendiri menjadi salah satu pembelajaran yang diminati oleh golongan pelajar di universiti. Salah satu pembelajaran kendiri adalah melalui Mobile Learning (M-Learning). MLearning lebih bersifat kepada pembelajaran kendiri yang menggunakan alat mudah alih seperti telefon bimbit, personal assistant (PDA), Palm Talk dan lain-lain. Tujuan kajian adalah untuk membangunkan aplikasi android pembelajaran Reka Bentuk Grafik Digital dan menilai kebolehfungsian aplikasi android pembelajaran Reka Bnetuk Grafik Digital daripada aspek reka bentuk informasi, antaramuka dan interaksi. Model ASSURE dijadikan panduan dalam membangunkan aplikasi android ini dimana model ASSURE mempunyai enam komponen. Aplikasi ini dibina dengan menggunakan perisian Adobe Flash, Adobe Photoshop dan Camtasia Studio 8. Pengujian dan penilaian telah dilakukan terhadap tiga orang pakar yang berkemahiran dalam biang Rek Bentuk Grafik Digital dan Multimedia Kreatif. Selain daripada itu, seramai tiga puluh orang responden yang terdiri daripada pelajar Fakulti Pendidikan Teknikal dan Vokasional (FPTV), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), (program Multimedia Kreatif) telah mengambil bahagian dalam proses penilaian kepuasan pengguna.     Penggunaan pembelajaran mobile sebagai bahan sokongan pembelajaran semakin meluas dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran masa kini. Namun begitu masalah yang wujud adalah tidak ada satu aplikasi pembelajaran yang berasaskan pembelajaran mobile yang pernah dibangunkan atau disediakan untuk keperluan pelajar kolej vokasional dalam kursus Pemasangan dan Penyelenggaraan Elektrik Satu Fasa khususnya bagi topik pengujian elektrik satu fasa. Oleh itu, tujuan aplikasi pembelajaran M-SPWTC yang berasaskan platform android ini dibangunkan adalah untuk dijadikan bahan sokongan pembelajaran serta meningkatkan pemahaman pelajar dalam kursus Pemasangan dan Penyelenggaraan Elektrik Satu Fasa. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk membangunkan dan menilai kesesuaian elemen yang terdapat di dalam aplikasi pembelajaran M-SPWTC serta mengenalpasti penerimaan pelajar terhadap aplikasi pembelajaran M-SPWTC. Reka bentuk kajian ini bersifat pembangunan produk dengan menggunakan model ADDIE dan kaedah kajian berbentuk kajian kuantitatif. Seramai 30 orang pelajar kolej vokasional dan 4 orang pakar telah dipilih sebagai responden dalam kajian ini dengan menggunakan instrumen soal selidik yang telah dianalisis menggunakan perisian Statistical Packages for the Social Science (SPSS) versi 20 bagi mendapatkan kekerapan, peratusan, serta min. Secara keseluruhannya aplikasi pembelajaran M-SPWTC ini berjaya dibangunkan dan boleh diterima pakai. Hasil dapatan penilaian juga menunjukkan elemen yang diintegrasikan dalam M-SPWTC memenuhi keperluan penggunaan seperti penggunaan teks, video, animasi dan grafik serta diterima oleh pelajar sebagai bahan sokongan dalam pembelajaran. Dapatan kajian ini boleh digunakan sebagai panduan kepada perekabentuk kandungan pembelajaran atas talian khususnya bagi bidang TVET

    THE USAGE OF MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSE (MOOC) IN TEACHING AND LEARNING AMONG STUDENTS

    Purpose of Study: Technology-based education methods have an interest in ensuring Malaysia's position in the global rankings. Furthermore, the government intends to raise the level of online learning globally. Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is a platform that allows the government’s intention to be successfully achieved. This study aims to identify students’ level of knowledge on the importance of the use of MOOC and on the application of MOOC in teaching and learning. It also intends to identify the students’ level of acceptance of MOOC and the level of its effectiveness in teaching and learning. A total of 247 users of MOOC from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) were sampled in this study. Methodology:  The data were collected using a set of questionnaire and were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSSv 21). Results: Results showed that the level of knowledge, usage, acceptance, and effectiveness was high among the students. From the findings, some suggestions were made to future researchers and the parties involved in university management. Implications/Applications: The finding noted a high level of the students’ knowledge about the importance of MOOC in teaching and learning, the students’ use of the application of the MOOC in teaching and learning, as well as their acceptance on the use of MOOC. This indicates that the use of teaching and learning in blended learning through the MOOC platform can be received by the students

    Inquiry discovery based learning involves questioning, exploration of idea and observation during the teaching and learning process.The purpose of the study was to identify students' interest in science experiments by using the inquiry discovery method. A total of 30 respondents was selected through purposive sampling method. The respondents consisted of students’ from 5th grade at primary school in Malaysia. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistic. The finding showed that using inquiry discovery method in science experiment high mean level (mean = 4.47). Based on these findings, using inquiry discovery methodwill attract student interest in science experiment

    PENGGUNAAN KAEDAH NYANYIAN DALAM MATA PELAJARAN REKA BENTUK DAN TEKNOLOGI

    Learning in Technology and Design subjects in schools is increasingly challenging of the competition and bridging the gap in the use of increasingly modern educational technology. The purpose of this study is to show the use of singing methods that can be used to attract and increase the perception towards the memory of Year 4 students in Technology and Design subjects. The sample of this study consists of 92 respondents from different schools in three schools located near the City zone in Mersing district, Johor. The research instrument is using a questionnaire containing 26 items. Pilot study was conducted at Mersing Integrated Religious Primary School with 30 respondents. The mean value of the study result for interest is 4.93 and the value of memory value is 4.66 using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (Version 22.0). The findings show that the use of singing methods is at a high level. Analysis data includes mean score, percentage and correlation. This shows that the use of the song method is practiced among primary school students as it not only attracts interest but also adds the memory of the students to mastering a topic in Technology and Design subjects

    Malaysian Skills Certificate (MSC) is a skill program that was introduced to strengthen the empowerment of skills. The aim of this study was to identify the perceptions of teachers on the implementation of simultaneous MSC at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) in the aspect of practical knowledge, technical skills and project implementation MSC group. The design of this study is a survey research. A total of 70 respondents were selected through purposive sampling method. The respondents consisted of training teachers from Bachelor of Vocational Education (Building Construction) of Cohorts Three in February 2013/2014 session intake who are currently undergoing the MSC Level 2 course at the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education (FPTV), UTHM. Researchers used questionnaires to obtain feedback from respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistic. Conclusions from the data analysis showed that students had practical knowledge (mean score = 3.01), technical skills (mean score = 3.08) and group MSC project implementation (mean score = 3.32) during simultaneous implementation of MSC. Overall, the mean score interpretation is at a high level
