Investigation on the Corrosion Inhibition of Mild Steel by Expired Cenfuroxime Axetir in 1MHCl Solution.
Investigation of the potential of expired cenfuroxime axetiras an inhibitor of mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl solution was carried out using gravimetric mass loss (weight loss) and electrochemical (linear polarization) methods. The investigations were carried out at temperatures of 30 and 50 OC and concentrations ranging from 100 to 500 ppm. Results obtained revealed an increase in inhibition efficiency with increase in concentration of the inhibitor (expired cenfuroxime axetir), and decrease in inhibition efficiency with increase in temperature. Linear polarization study showed that the inhibitor is a mixed type affecting both cathodic and anodic sites of the corrosion process, which is characteristics of mixed and adsorption type inhibitors. The adsorption process obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm

Japanese corporate culture in Saudi Arabia: an analysis of the determinants of Honda’s successful integration
A select number of notable Japanese and Western companies have both the pedigree and a proven track record of conducting business in Saudi Arabia. Japanese companies consistently appear to be more successful in their operations. A case in question lies in Honda’s Saudi operation - which is guided by a corporate culture deeply rooted in Japanese society. And yet despite obvious cultural and religious differences Honda appears to thrive in an Islamic state. Whilst Japanese and Saudi cultures both believe in and exhibit strong traits of high-context collectivism; there still remain many differences which it is argued if not considered could cause difficulties. This paper uses a literature survey of academic publications and interviews of senior managers - to look at how Honda’s corporate culture is influencing the company’s operations in Saudi Arabia. The objective of the research is to analyse corporate culture and establish how it has contributed towards the company’s success in Saudi Arabia. The study gives the background of cultural experiences of Japan and the corporate governance system in that country. It also discusses the cultural values of the Saudi Society and then compares these - in order to explore the similarities and differences of the two societies. Findings suggest that both company and country has had to adapt to environmental and regional customs to accommodate successful collaboration
Extended Molecular Spectrum of beta- and alpha-Thalassemia in Oman
Sickle cell disease is known to be very common in the Omani population, although data are limited concerning beta-thalassemia (beta-thal). We report the molecular background of 87 unrelated patients from the Sultanate of Oman, diagnosed with beta-thal major (beta-TM), beta-thal intermedia (beta-TI) or minor. Diagnosis was based on clinical and hematological data and confirmed by molecular analysis. We found 11 different beta-thal determinants in our cohort, which consists of subjects from different regions of Oman. Six of these mutations have not been previously reported in the Omani population. The prevalence of alpha-thal single gene deletions (-alphaGenetics of disease, diagnosis and treatmen
Achieving informed decision-making for net zero energy buildings design using building performance simulation tools
Building performance simulation (BPS) is the basis for informed decision-making of Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEBs) design. This paper aims to investigate the use of building performance simulation tools as a method of informing the design decision of NZEBs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of a simulation-based decision aid, ZEBO, on informed decision-making using sensitivity analysis. The objective is to assess the effect of ZEBO and other building performance simulation tools on three specific outcomes: (i) knowledge and satisfaction when using simulation for NZEB design; (ii) users’ decision-making attitudes and patterns, and (iii) performance robustness based on an energy analysis. The paper utilizes three design case studies comprising a framework to test the use of BPS tools. The paper provides results that shed light on the effectiveness of sensitivity analysis as an approach for informing the design decisions of NZEBs
