Galanin immunoreactivity in the brain of the desert lizard Uromastyx acanthinura during activity season

The distribution of galanin immunoreactive perikarya and nerve fibers in the brain of the desert lizard U. acanthinura was studied by means of immunofluorescence using an antiserum against rabbit galanin. The animals were captured during the activity season in March (wet season) just before reproduction period and in June (arid season) after ovulation period. Immunoreactive neurons were mostly detected in the mediobasal and the infundibular recess nuclei, the nucleus of the paraventricular organ, the paraventricular organ, the periventricular nucleus and in the anterior hypothalamus at the level of the periventricular nucleus, the paraventricular nucleus and the supraoptic nucleus. The differences in brain galanin expression between animals collected under both sets of environmental conditions indicated changes which occur during the annual and reproductive cycles. The wide hypothalamic and extrahypothalamic distribution of galanin immunoreactive fibers suggests that this peptide may have hypophysiotropic, neuromodulator and neurotransmitter roles in the lizard U. acanthinura. A Arte a serviço da cidade?

Cette contribution reprend les termes du séminaire « Interfaces : art, ville et subjectivités contemporaines » en essayant de caractériser la ville en général puis en analysant, à partir de quelques exemples puisés dans l’histoire récente de Lyon en France, la place que prend l’art dans l’espace urbain. L’exemple de cette ville montre comment s’affiche une volonté «d’ouvrir» sur le monde tout en cherchant à faire agglomération. La relation qui s’instaure avec la ville reflète certes les rapports de force qui traversent l’association des individus et des groupes mais découle également de la stratégie de la ville dans le domaine culturel qui tend à vouloir affirmer une identité sur le plan international. La politique culturelle locale se construit bien avec des sources de financement croisées qui donnent à voir que toute politique locale s’inscrit dans un cadre national mais on peut penser que la construction européenne et l’accélération des échanges internationaux affaiblissent les identités nationales et offrent une opportunité d’affirmation de l’identité locale. En ce sens, la politique culturelle pourrait être pensée comme un ensemble d’actions participant à la « globalisation » du local, c’est-à-dire contribuant à donner la part de symbolique au local pour que celui-ci soit un « tout» et concourant ainsi à une redéfinition de la relation local-national.A presente contribuição retoma os termos do Seminário «Interfaces: arte, cidade e subjetividades contemporâneas » na tentativa de caracterizara cidade em geral, analisando, em seguida, a partir de alguns exemplos dahistória recente de cidade de Lyon, na França, o lugar da arte no espaçourbano. O exemplo da referida cidade mostra como se instaura uma vontadede « se abrir » para o mundo e ao mesmo tempo criar a cidade. É verdade quea relação que se estabelece com a cidade reflete a associação de forças queperpassam a associação dos indivíduos e dos grupos, mas decorre igualmente da estratégia da cidade no âmbito cultural que tende a querer afirmar uma identidade no plano internacional. A política cultural local se constrói por meio do cruzamento de fontes de financiamento que permitem ver que toda política local se inscreve em um quadro nacional, mas pode-se pensar que a construção européia e a aceleração dos intercâmbios internacionais enfraquecem as identidades nacionais e oferecem uma oportunidade de afirmação da identidade local. Engagement public des femmes en situation migratoire et recompositions culturelles dans les banlieues françaises

Nous nous intéresserons à l’engagement dans l’espace public de femmes vivant dans les espaces urbains, bénéficiant des dispositifs de la politique de la ville, où se multiplient les initiatives pour soutenir la redéfinition des rapports de genre. Après avoir caractérisé ces lieux et l’engagement associatif dans un tel cadre, nous analyserons plus particulièrement les engagements en situation migratoire. Pour saisir les conditions dans lesquelles se forgent les engagements de femmes immigrées, nous verrons d’abord les changements que connaît la famille en situation migratoire. L’analyse des processus de repositionnement des enfants et des parents sera ensuite complétée par un éclairage concernant le couple, avant de nous attarder sur l’engagement lui-même et en illustrant notre propos par un exemple pris dans la région lyonnaise.We will be interested in the engagement in public space of women living in urban spaces, profiting from the devices of the policy of the city, and where the initiatives multiply to support the redefinition of gender relations. After having characterized these places and associative engagement within such a framework, we will more particularly analyse engagements in the migratory situation. To seize the conditions under which engagements of immigrant women are forged, we will see initially the changes that affect the family in the migratory situation. The analysis of the processes of repositioning the children and the parents will then be supplemented by a clarifying discussion concerning the couple and the engagement itself, and finally we will be illustrating with an example taken from the region of Lyon

Correlation between ovarian steroidogenesis and beta-endorphin in the Lizard Uromastyx acanthinura: Immunohistochemical approach.

In Mammals, opioid peptides are involved in various physiological processes including the reproductive function. The knowledge of the distribution of beta-endorphin, one of opioid peptides in Reptiles ovaries is very limited. Therefore, the present study used the lizard ovarian follicles to further elucidate the role of this peptide in steroidogenesis. In Uromastyx acanthinura, the localization of both this peptide and sex steroid hormone was investigated by the immunohistochemical approach. This technique was used to evaluate the distribution of these substances and their relationship. The beta-endorphin is strongly distributed in the granulosa cells and oocyte cytoplasm of the previtellogenic follicles in sexually quiescent lizards (winter) when steroidogenesis was interrupted. In spring, the signal became weak, or even absent, in the vitellogenic and previtellogenic follicles. The granulosa cells of the previtellogenic follicles showed an important synthesis of 17beta-estradiol. Females that did not undergo in vitellogenesis in spring showed the same profile than quiescent females of winter. These findings represent the first evidence of the presence of beta-endorphin in the ovary of this lizard. The seasonal variations observed in the reproductive cycle suggest that this opioid peptide is involved in the modulation of seasonal steroidogenesis

Immunolocalization of estrogens and progesterone receptors within the ovary of the lizard Uromastyx acanthinura from vitellogenesis to rest season.

The sites of action and the physiological role of estrogens and progesterone in the ovary are poorly understood in Reptiles. We have undertaken a systematic study of the immunoexpression of classical oestrogen receptor (ER or ERalpha) and progesterone receptor (PR) in the female lizard during the reproductive cycle. During vitellogenesis, ER was not expressed in vitellogenic follicles whereas PR was weakly detected in the nucleus of some follicular cells and well expressed in the internal theca cells. The follicular and theca cells were immunopositive for ER in the previtellogenic follicles, the signal in both was cytosolic. PR was strongly expressed in the follicular cells, the signal was localised in the nucleus. In the post-reproductive period, ER was detected in the previtellogenic follicles in the same manner as in the breeding period. The staining for PR was expressed in both the nucleus and cytoplasm of follicular cells and theca cells. In the sexual rest, the previtellogenic follicles were all negative for ER and PR immunoexpression. These findings suggest that the main action of estrogens in the ovary is not mediated by ER. The expression of cytosolic PR only in the post-reproduction period, at the same time at the progesterone synthesis, supports the hypothesis which stipulates an exclusive nuclear localization in the absence of progesterone
