A large number of investigations have been carried out to understand the mechanism of freezing and mechanical damages in biological materials. Harmfull ice crystal has been proposed to be a factor causing injury to biological materials during the freezing. How to control, eliminate, or prevent the intracellular ice formation become an important research topic in fundamental cryobiology. Microscopic observation of the freezing process of onion epidermistissue have been made using a solidification stage in order to study the possibility ice crystal formation inhibition using glycerol and sucrose as a cryoprotectant. Experiments conductedunder cooling rates of 40oC/min and 70oC/min. The results indicated that the increasing glycerol can depress the freezing initiation temperature. However, vitrification of onion cells only can beachieved when we used high concentration of cryoprotectant (more than 70%vol sucrose(0.8M)+30%vol glycerol) with relatively rapid freezing (more than 70oC/min)

White Tears, Brown Scars: How White Feminism Betrayed Women of Color, by Ruby Hamad, addresses the distress around the pedagogy of Critical Race Theory in educational systems from the standpoint of politics of emotions and emotional interactions of the dominant social groups with racial minorities. The author articulates some of the emotional tactics that make up “toxic femininity,” specifically for white women, and unveils the scars caused by these delicate yet intruding performances. Through shedding “white tears,” which Hamad defines as dishonest emotions, white women utilize emotional expression, primarily crying, to shut down the conversation about race and suppress the agencies of their sisters of color. Not surprisingly, the author received severe waves of “global backlash” on social media in calling out another racist microaggression

The objective of this research is to improve the learning achievement in Accounting of the students in Grade XI of Social Science Program 5 of BCD Senior Secondary School through the application of the cooperative learning method of the Pairs Checks type with Peer Tutoring method. This research used the classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the research were the students as many 39 with 24 females and 15 males in Grade XI of Social Science Program 5 of BCD Senior Secondary School. The data sources of the research were informants (teacher and students of the school) and students' test result. The data of the research were gathered through observation, documentation, and in-depth interview, and test. The data were validated by using the method triangulation technique and investigation triangulation method. They were then analyzed by using the quantitative and qualitative data analyses. The performance indicator of the research was the students' learning achievement toward the Accounting subject matter, which fulfilled the minimal completeness criteria of at least 85% of the total number of subjects. The procedures of the research included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The result of the research shows that the application of the cooperative learning model of the pairs checks type with the peer tutoring method can improve the students' learning achievement in Accounting from pre-treatment to Cycle I and Cycle II respectively. The learning process during the pre-treatment is teacher-centered in nature. Prior to the treatment, the number of the students who fulfilled the minimal completeness criteria is 24 (61.54%), and that of the students who did not fulfill the minimal completeness criteria is 15 (38.46%). Following the treatment, the number of the students who fulfilled the minimal completeness criteria becomes 33 (84.62%) in Cycle I and 37 (94.87%) in Cycle II respectively. Based on the result of the research, a conclusion is drawn that the application of the cooperative learning model of the pairs checks type with the peer tutoring method can improve the learning achievement in Accounting of the students in Grade XI of Social Science Program of BCD Senior Secondary School

The objectives of research were to study and to analyze the accounting learning achievement using Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type of cooperative learning with card learning media of the XI IPS-3 of SMA Batik 2 Surakarta in the school year of 2012/2013. This study was a classroom action research conducted in 2 cycles. The data collection was done using interview, observation, test and document. The data validation was done using triangulation technique: method and source. Techniques of analyzing data used were a descriptive comparative and critical data analyses. The increase of student passing from cycle I to II was 4 students (11.76%). In the application of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) of increase was 5%. Considering the research, it could be concluded that the application of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning with card learning media could improve the accounting learning achievement of the XI IPS-3 graders of SMA Batik 2 Surakarta in the school year of 2012/2013

Nurhayati. THE EFFORTS TO IMPROVE ACTIVENESS AND THE LEARNING RESULT OF ACCOUNTANCY THROUGH LEARNING CYCLE MODEL FOR GRADE X-AK1 ACCOUNTANCY OF COURSE STUDENTS OF SMK BATIK 2 SURAKARTA IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2013/2014. Minor Thesis, Teachers Training and Education Faculty. Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta. June 2014.The purposes of the research to improve activeness and learning result of accountancy at grade X-AK1 student of SMK Batik 2 Surakarta by applying learning cycle 5E model. This research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research conducted in two cycles with each cycle consist of planning, performing action, doing observation, and reflecting. The subject of this research are the students of grade X-AK1 student of SMK Batik 2 Surakarta that consist of 30 students. The data source from student, teacher and document. The data collected by doing observation, test, documentation and interview. The technique to the test validity of the data are triangulation of data sources and techniques. The data analyzed by using descriptive analysis and qualitative analysis. The result of the research showed that by applying learning cycle model can improve the activeness and learning result of accountancy. The improvement happened in first cycle, eventhough it is not optimal yet. The performing of second cycle made both ofstudents' activeness get very good qualification and students' learning result reach very high qualification. The research concludes that the applying of learning cycle model can improve the activeness and students' learning result in accountancy for grade X-AK1 of SMK Batik 2 Surakarta

Abstract We propose a deep neural network (DNN) as a fast surrogate model for local stress calculations in inhomogeneous non-linear materials. We show that the DNN predicts the local stresses with 3.8% mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) for the case of heterogeneous elastic media and a mechanical contrast of up to factor of 1.5 among neighboring domains, while performing 103 times faster than spectral solvers. The DNN model proves suited for reproducing the stress distribution in geometries different from those used for training. In the case of elasto-plastic materials with up to 4 times mechanical contrast in yield stress among adjacent regions, the trained model simulates the micromechanics with a MAPE of 6.4% in one single forward evaluation of the network, without any iteration. The results reveal an efficient approach to solve non-linear mechanical problems, with an acceleration up to a factor of 8300 for elastic-plastic materials compared to typical solvers
