    Mycotoxins multi detection by ELISA

    Get PDF
Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by some fungi  that may occur in certain vegetable food like corn, cereals or nuts that have not been stored properly. They occur more often in countries with tropical weather and the three main fungi genera that produce them are Aspergillus, Fusarium and Penicillium. The most common mycotoxines are aflatoxins, fumonisins, ochratoxin, zearalenone and deoxynivalenol. These compounds are toxic and they can produce health disorders in people or animals fed with contaminated food. Aflatoxines are considerated the most powerful cancerogenic natural compounds. The high toxicity of mycotoxins has forced setting maximum limits by governments. Several methods are used for detection and quantification of mycotoxins. ELISA (Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay) tests are sensitive and relatively rapid methods. There are specific commercial kits for each type of mycotoxins, which detect levels within the legal limits for each mycotoxin. In this project, the samples processing, extraction and implementation of the tests used to detect the various mycotoxins are described. It is intend a research project to develop an improved ELISA kit to detect several mycotoxins  while maintaining the sensitivity and efficiency. This improvement will be based on the use of different chromogens, to distinguish between the different mycotoxins that could be detected by the test

ABSTRACT The Perspective of the Ricoeur hermeneutics about tolerance at the Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) focuses on the interpretation process of NU as an influential Islamic organization concerning tolerance to non-Muslims. The understanding of current tolerance is crucial amid strengthening the action of intolerances and discrimination in various forms of intimidation and assault on minority groups. In addition, the interpretation of the meaning of tolerance can be considered to be one of the triggers of radical action, especially when associated with issues of political leadership, the establishment of a place of worship, and so on. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to understand how the process of interpretation done by NU about tolerance toward non-Muslims. The Method in this study was the hermeneutics method of Paul Ricoeur, that emphasizing the interpretation of the text with the distanciation process between text and the reader. The results show that the interpretation process of tolerance is based on the language (verses) of the Qur'an surat al-Hujurat verse 13 "Lita'arafu", which means to know each other. In the process of language distancing into discourse, the verse is understood by NU tolerances as Ukhuwah Wathaniyah, the Brotherhood of country and nation. The practice of discourse shows that the interpretation of NU is motivated by the reality that the plurality of religion as Sunnatullah, and its practice in the context of muamalah, and to realize the treatise of Islam as a religion of rahmatan lil-aalamin.  The contextual interpretation of NU is based on the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Indonesia.  The Interpretation of this tolerance to non-Muslims can be used as a counter-discourse of the interpretations of radical Islamist groups that considers non-Muslims to be enemies so that they must be affected even.keywords:  hermeneutics, nahdlatul ulama, tolerance, ukhuwah wathaniyah ABSTRAK Perspektif hermeneutika Ricoeur tentang toleransi di organisasi Islam Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) memfokuskan pada proses penafsiran NU sebagai organisasi Islam berpengaruh mengenai toleransi terhadap non-muslim.

Thesis(Master) --KDI School:Master of Public Policy,2017Foreign aid brings large contribution to economic growth in most of less developed countries. The government of Zanzibar therefore has been taken many efforts to ensure that there is effective utilization of external resources for the betterment of country growth. Hence, intention of this research is to scrutinize the effect of ODA on economic growth of Zanzibar. Specifically, the study analyzed the relationship between ODA and domestic investment as well as its effect on government expenditure. The analysis of the study was done on time series data from 1980 to 2015.The data was analyzed using OLS model. The paper applied the Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) test to test stationary of data were found to be stationary. The study also used Johansen co-integration to test for long run outcome of the variable on country’s economic growth. The outcomes under Johansen co-integration noted that ODA and has positive effect on economic growth in the long run and it has long run impact of government expenditure on the long run. The results from OLS showed that ODA is not significant to economic growth but it is positively and significantly impacts government expenditures in Zanzibar. Moreover, the OLS results indicated the insignificance connection between ODA and domestic investment in Zanzibar. The study therefore recommends that since the results shows the ODA and domestic investment negatively related, it is the time for the government of Zanzibar to rethink the issue ODA and its impact on domestic investment and new policies and strategies are highly important to ensure that the foreign assistances are directly focused to direct investment activities that may respond quickly to economic growth and improving the welfare of people.1 INTRODUCTION 2 LITERATURE REVIEW 3 METHODOLOGY 4 DATA ANALYSIS AND RESULTS OF THE STUDY 5 CONCLUSION, RECOMMENDATION AND POLICY IMPLICATIONSmasterpublishedHamad Bakar SAID

Refrigeration and air conditioning is an active and a rapidly developing technology. Refrigeration is the process of removing heat from low temperature reservoir to high temperature one. Meanwhile air conditioning is the process of removing heat from the interior of an occupied space to improve the comfort of occupants. There are many systems in refrigeration and air conditioning. The most popular and widely used is vapor compression refrigeration system for daily applications. The working fluids used in the vapor compression refrigeration system are called refrigerants. One of components refrigeration system is evaporator. The evaporator removes heat of the area to be cool. The current of the vapor compression refrigeration system has a constant speed of motor fan on the evaporator. The effects of the constant speed of the motor, system are on the stable. In this project, design of system is combined with Arduino Atmega 2560. The motor fan of evaporator will be controlled by using Arduino Atmega 2560. The controlling uses two methods, Conventional (On-Off) and Variable Speed Drive (VSD) based on temperature setting. This affects the electrical consumption, cooling time, and coefficient of performance (COP) of the system. The results shows that the variable speed drive (VSD) for the cooling time has 3.9 minutes for temperature setting 22°C and 2 minutes for 24°C, those values are better than the conventional control. The power consumption of the variable speed drive (VSD) is 1.430 kWh and 1.248 kWh which is better than that of the conventional control. Motivation: The food sector is in a continuous fight against infectious diseases, among which the most relevant is the bacteria Salmonella. The disease it causes is called Salmonellosis, and it can affect both animals and humans. Salmonellosis causes big losses in the food sector, since it poses a risk to public health, so it is important control it. For this reason, laboratories carry out routinary  food quality controls to ensure the innocuity of the food analized. There are several methods whose objective is to detect efficiently the presence Salmonella bacteria in food. The one we have used in the laboratory is a conventional method whose reglament is established in UNE-EN ISO 6579:2003. The goal of the project is to expand the detection method of Salmonella ISO 6579, in order to confirm that this detection method can ben used efficiently in the tested products. Methods: The ISO 6579:2003 is an horizontal method that consists of a pre-enrichment phase of the test sample in a nonselective liquid medium, followed by a selective enrichment phase, followed by a final phase in which any possible Salmonella colonies are grown in selective, solid culture media. In this way it is posible to confirm or rule out the presence of colonies, and carry out their characterization by biochemical and serological tests. Eight different foods that have not been validated before in our laboratory were artificially contaminated with 10 UFC Salmonella. The limit of detection and the influence of the presence of other microorganisms were both analized. Results: Biochemical and serological confirmation tests have determined the presence of Salmonella in all food products evaluated for the established detection limit. We have also verified that the presence of accompanying flora does not influence the process of Salmonella detection. Conclusions: Since it has been possible to detect the presence of Salmonella under the established detection limit, and with the presence of accompanying flora, it can be concluded that the ISO 6579 methodology is effective in the evaluated foods. Therefore, these food products have been validated in the laboratory following the UNE-EN ISO 6579:2003 regulations and we have carried out the extension of this validation metho
