Optimization Approach of Maintenance and Production Planning for a Multiple-Product Manufacturing System

    Get PDF
This paper deals with the problem of maintenance and production planning for randomly failing multiple-product manufacturing system. The latter consists of one machine which produces several types of products in order to satisfy random demands corresponding to every type of product. At any given time, the machine can only produce one type of product and then switches to another one. The purpose of this study is to establish sequentially an economical production plan and an optimal maintenance strategy, taking into account the influence of the production rate on the system's degradation. Analytical models are developed in order to find the production plan and the preventive maintenance strategy which minimizes sequentially the total production/inventory cost and then the total maintenance cost. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed approach

International audienceThis article deals with the combined production and maintenance plans for a manufacturing system satisfying a random demand. We first establish an optimal production plan which minimises the average total inventory and production cost. Second, using this optimal production plan, and taking into account the deterioration of the machine according to its production rate, we derive an optimal maintenance schedule which minimises the maintenance cost. A numerical example illustrates the proposed approach, this analytical approach, based on a stochastic optimisation model and using the operational age concept, reveals the significant influence of the production rate on the deterioration of the manufacturing system and consequently on the integrated production/maintenance policy

Jointly Production and Correlated Maintenance Optimization for Parallel Leased Machines

This paper deals with a preventive maintenance strategy optimization correlated to production for a manufacturing system made by several parallel machines under lease contract. In order to minimize the total cost of production and maintenance by reducing the production system interruptions due to maintenance activities, a correlated group preventive maintenance policy is developed using the gravity center approach (GCA). The aim of this study is to determine an economical production plan and an optimal group preventive maintenance interval Tn at which all machines are maintained simultaneously. An analytical correlation between failure rate of machines and production level is considered and the impact of the preventive maintenance policy on the production plan is studied. Finally, the proposed maintenance policy GPM is compared with an individual simple strategy approach IPM in order to illustrate its efficiency

Maintenance Optimization for Transport Vehicles in a Supply Chain

In this paper, we are interested in determining a maintenance policy with an optimal cost to enable the company to generate significant profits, often the means of transport travelled different paths, they are characterized by the distance they covered; however each distance has an effect on the operating characteristics of means of delivery. The objective of this paper is twofold: It aims both to introduce the model of supply chain and specify distances, and codify the use of it in the proportional hazard model, later a maintenance policy was presented which takes into consideration the types of paths travelled by the means of delivery
