    DXVNet-ViT-Huge (JFT) Multimode Classification Network Based on Vision Transformer

    Aiming at the problem that traditional CNN network is not good at extracting global features of images, Based on DXVNet network, Conditional Random Fields (CRF) component and pre-trained ViT-Huge (Vision Transformer) are adopted in this paper Transformer model expands and builds a brand new DXVNet-ViT-Huge (JFT) network. CRF component can help the network learn the constraint conditions of each word corresponding prediction label, improve the D-GRU method based word label prediction errors, and improve the accuracy of sequence annotation. The Transformer architecture of the ViT (Huge) model can extract the global feature information of the image, while CNN is better at extracting the local features of the image. Therefore, the ViT (Huge) Huge pre-training model and CNN pre-training model adopt the multi-modal feature fusion technology. Two complementary image feature information is fused by Bi-GRU to improve the performance of network classification. The experimental results show that the newly constructed Dxvnet-Vit-Huge (JFT) model achieves good performance, and the F1 values in the two real public data sets are 6.03% and 7.11% higher than the original DXVNet model, respectively

    AliCHI: A Large-scale Multi-modal Dataset and Automated Evaluation Tool for Human-like Dialogue Systems

    A well-designed interactive human-like dialogue system is expected to take actions (e.g. smiling) and respond in a pattern similar to humans. However, due to the limitation of single-modality (only speech) or small volume of currently public datasets, most dialogue systems can only respond in speech and cannot take human-like actions. In this work, we build a large-scale multi-modal dataset of human-to-human conversation in a face-to-face fashion, with fine-grained annotations. The raw data in video format contains 635 dialogue sessions, being collected from 200 participants on designed topics and lasting 52 hours in total. Moreover, we manually annotated the verbal and non-verbal behaviors in each dialogue session on their start/end timestamp. Furthermore, we developed a corresponding evaluation tool for human-like dialogue systems to automatically evaluates the accuracy of two basic tasks, turn-taking prediction, and backchannel prediction, on both time and content.     Transdisciplinary, co-designed and adaptive management for the sustainable development of rongcheng, a coastal city in China in the context of human activities and climate change

    Half the population of China live in coastal zones where 70% of large cities are also located. Intensive human activities pose significant environmental and ecological hazards to these cities that are already vulnerable to natural hazards and climate change. The sustainable development of coastal cities is thus both a national and international issue. Rongcheng is a typical coastal city in east China. It is a national marine ranch demonstration area that is subjected to multi-stressors from human activities and climate change. The dominant economic sectors include aquaculture and fisheries, agriculture, shipping and tourism. A multitude of resulting pressures come mainly from intensified human activities, such as intensive aquaculture, overfishing, industrial pollutants, agricultural runoff, land reclamation and port expansion. In addition, Rongcheng is also facing exogenic pressures from extreme climate events such as intensified storms, storm surges, droughts and sea ice. A growing awareness of these problems brought together a trans-disciplinary group from local government, research institutions, local practitioners and coastal representatives to jointly explore and co-design adaptive coastal management options. In this transdisciplinary study, a social-ecological analysis based on a combination of the Systems Approach Framework and the Drivers-Pressures-States-Impacts-Responses framework was used to analyze and formulate an adaptive management plan for the sustainability of Rongcheng. More than 40 stakeholders including government, companies, civil society and institutions participated in the study through questionnaires and on-site meetings. A statistical analysis of the results identified urgent issues impeding the sustainable development of Rongcheng. The issues identified were poorly regulated aquaculture, loss of shoreline, and the decline of seagrass and cultural heritage.The study identified management options and measures, some of which were adopted by the local government in a co-designed management plan. The measures included upgrading of aquaculture industry, habitat conservation and restoration, and the development of cultural tourism. Another outcome was the increased knowledge exchange between stakeholders to inform management, policy, and decision making, as well as raised awareness of vulnerability to natural hazards and climate change.     Experimental comparison of Yb/Al/Ce and Yb/Al/P co-doped fibers on the suppression of transverse mode instability

    We presented an experimental comparison of the core-composition difference on the suppression of the photodarkening and transverse mode instability effects. Two core-composition fibers, entailing Yb/Al/Ce and Yb/Al/P co-doped fibers, were fabricated by MCVD process combined with solution doping technique. The parameters of two fibers were almost the same. The PD-induced loss at equilibrium was 3.94 dB/m at 702 nm in Yb/Al/Ce fiber, while it was 0.99 dB/m in Yb/Al/P fiber. To obtain a deeper understanding of the impact of PD on laser performance, a bidirectional pumping fiber amplifier was constructed. Compared with Yb/Al/Ce co-doped fiber, the TMI thresholds of Yb/Al/P co-doped fiber were enhanced in co-pumped and counter-pumped schemes. Meanwhile, the slope efficiency in bidirectional scheme was promoted by 4%. Moreover, the transmittance at 638 nm confirmed the superior PD resistance of Yb/Al/P co-doped fiber.     Finishing the euchromatic sequence of the human genome

    The sequence of the human genome encodes the genetic instructions for human physiology, as well as rich information about human evolution. In 2001, the International Human Genome Sequencing Consortium reported a draft sequence of the euchromatic portion of the human genome. Since then, the international collaboration has worked to convert this draft into a genome sequence with high accuracy and nearly complete coverage. Here, we report the result of this finishing process. The current genome sequence (Build 35) contains 2.85 billion nucleotides interrupted by only 341 gaps. It covers ∼99% of the euchromatic genome and is accurate to an error rate of ∼1 event per 100,000 bases. Many of the remaining euchromatic gaps are associated with segmental duplications and will require focused work with new methods. The near-complete sequence, the first for a vertebrate, greatly improves the precision of biological analyses of the human genome including studies of gene number, birth and death. Notably, the human enome seems to encode only 20,000-25,000 protein-coding genes. The genome sequence reported here should serve as a firm foundation for biomedical research in the decades ahead
