    Investigation of transpiration cooling with local thermal non-equilibrium model: Effects of different thermal boundary conditions at the porous-fluid interface

    In this study, the main stream coupled with a porous medium with local thermal non-equilibrium assumption is analyzed. The flow inside the porous material is modelled using the Darcy–Brinkman–Forchheimer equation and the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved for the main stream. Several couple conditions between the main flow temperature and the temperatures of the solid matrix and coolant flow at the fluid/porous interface is calculated. The results show that the Model C assumes the main flow temperature equals the solid phase temperature and the main flow heat flux is all imposed on the solid phase gives the most reasonable answer

    NASRec: Weight Sharing Neural Architecture Search for Recommender Systems

    The rise of deep neural networks provides an important driver in optimizing recommender systems. However, the success of recommender systems lies in delicate architecture fabrication, and thus calls for Neural Architecture Search (NAS) to further improve its modeling. We propose NASRec, a paradigm that trains a single supernet and efficiently produces abundant models/sub-architectures by weight sharing. To overcome the data multi-modality and architecture heterogeneity challenges in recommendation domain, NASRec establishes a large supernet (i.e., search space) to search the full architectures, with the supernet incorporating versatile operator choices and dense connectivity minimizing human prior for flexibility. The scale and heterogeneity in NASRec impose challenges in search, such as training inefficiency, operator-imbalance, and degraded rank correlation. We tackle these challenges by proposing single-operator any-connection sampling, operator-balancing interaction modules, and post-training fine-tuning. Our results on three Click-Through Rates (CTR) prediction benchmarks show that NASRec can outperform both manually designed models and existing NAS methods, achieving state-of-the-art performance

    Plant toxin β-ODAP activates integrin β1 and focal adhesion : a critical pathway to cause neurolathyrism

    Neurolathyrism is a unique neurodegeneration disease caused by beta-N-oxalyl-L-alpha, beta-diaminopropionic (beta-ODAP) present in grass pea seed (Lathyrus stativus L.) and its pathogenetic mechanism is unclear. This issue has become a critical restriction to take full advantage of drought-tolerant grass pea as an elite germplasm resource under climate change. We found that, in a human glioma cell line, beta-ODAP treatment decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, leading to outside release and overfall of Ca2+ from mitochondria to cellular matrix. Increased Ca2+ in cellular matrix activated the pathway of ECM, and brought about the overexpression of beta 1 integrin on cytomembrane surface and the phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase (FAK). The formation of high concentration of FA units on the cell microfilaments further induced overexpression of paxillin, and then inhibited cytoskeleton polymerization. This phenomenon turned to cause serious cell microfilaments distortion and ultimately cytoskeleton collapse. We also conducted qRT-PCR verification on RNA-sequence data using 8 randomly chosen genes of pathway enrichment, and confirmed that the data was statistically reliable. For the first time, we proposed a relatively complete signal pathway to neurolathyrism. This work would help open a new window to cure neurolathyrism, and fully utilize grass pea germplasm resource under climate change
