Exact Supersymmetric Amplitude for \kkb\/ and \bbb\/ Mixing

We present the most general supersymmetric amplitude for \kkb\/ and \bbb\/ mixing resulting from gluino box diagrams. We use this amplitude to place general constraints on the magnitude of flavor-changing squark mass mixings, and compare these constraints to theoretical predictions both in and beyond the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model.Comment: 11 pages plus 2 figures available on request, MIU-THP-92/6

Cosmic ray antimatter from supersymmetric dark matter

In this paper we study the antiproton, positron and gamma-ray fluxes resulting from the annihilation of supersymmetric dark matter in our galactic halo. We show that the requirement of closure imposed by inflationary cosmologies constrains the supersymmetric dark matter to be either a relatively pure photino eigenstate or a relatively pure higgsino eigenstate, or possibly a scalar neutrino with a mass less than 4 GeV. The photino choice can lead to observable fluxes when sfermion masses are [lsim] 50-60 GeV. Such a scenario is testable via the radiative production of photinos at PEP and PETRA. The higgsino scenario leads to observable fluxes independent of sfermion masses, provided H01|0>/H02|0> = v1/v2 [gsim] 2. In constrast, sneutrino dark matter annihilates almost entirely into neutrinos, resulting in a monochromatic neutrino flux that is probably unobservable.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/26293/1/0000378.pd

Perhaps scalar neutrinos are the lightest supersymmetric partners

We consider the possibility that the scalar partners of the neutrinos are the least massive supersymmetric partners, and show that this alternative is compatible with cosmological constraints, which put a significant lower bound on photino masses but not on masses. Various consequences are examined: the photon counting rate for 0--> increases [Gamma](Z0) by about 0.25 GeV; may be enhanced; the decay <inl may be detectable; there can be additional contributions to the rare decay <inl; restrictions on gluino masses, which depend on photinos interacting before they decay, have to be re-examined; scalar neutrinos have suitable characteristics as candidates for dark matter in the universe. We discuss one currently fashionable class of models that can predicr a light .Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/24754/1/0000176.pd

Using Gauge Coupling Unification and Proton Decay to Test Minimal Supersymmetric SU(5)

    Get PDF
We derive a one-loop expression, including all thresholds, for the mass of the proton decay mediating color triplets, MDcM_{D^c}, in minimal supersymmetric SU(5). The result for MDcM_{D^c} does not depend on other heavy thresholds or extra representations with SU(5) invariant masses which might be added to the minimal model. We numerically correct our result to two-loop accuracy. Choosing inputs to maximize MDcM_{D^c} and τP\tau_P, within experimental limits on the inputs and a 1 TeV1~TeV naturalness bound, we derive a strict bound α3>0.117\alpha_3>0.117. We discuss how this bound will change as experimental limits improve. Measurements of α3\alpha_3 from deep inelastic scattering and the charmonium spectrum are below the bound α3>0.117\alpha_3>0.117 by more than 3σ3\sigma. We briefly review several ideas of how to resolve the discrepancy between these low values of α3\alpha_3 and the determinations of α3\alpha_3 from LEP event shapes.Comment: 10 pages (2 figures not included, available upon request), MIU-THP-94/6

Supersymmetric Time Reversal Violation in Semileptonic Decays of Charged Mesons

    Get PDF
We provide a general analysis of time reversal violation arising from misalignment between quark and squark mass eigenstates. In particular, we focus on the possibility of large enhancement effects due to the top quark mass. For semileptonic decays of the charged mesons, K+→π0ÎŒ+ΜΌK^+ \rightarrow \pi^0 \mu^+ \nu_{\mu}, D+→K‟0ÎŒ+ΜΌD^+ \rightarrow \overline{K}^0 \mu^+ \nu_{\mu}, and B+→D‟0τ+ΜτB^+ \rightarrow \overline{D}^0 \tau^+ \nu_{\tau}, the transverse polarization of the lepton Pl⊄P^{\bot}_l is a TT-odd observable that is of great experimental interest. It is noted that under favorable choice of parameters, PΌ⊄P^{\bot}_{\mu} in KÎŒ3+K^+_{\mu3} decay can be detectable at the ongoing KEK experiment and it holds a promising prospect for discovery at the proposed BNL experiment. Furthermore, Pτ⊄P^{\bot}_{\tau} in B±B^{\pm} decay could well be within the reach of BB factories, but PΌ⊄P^{\bot}_{\mu} in D±D^{\pm} decay is not large enough for detection at the proposed τ\tau-charm factory.Comment: LaTex, 14 pages, 2 figures, minor changes, version to appear in Phys.
