The Impacts of Task-Based Activities on Learners’ Grammatical Acquisition and Motivation at Dong Nai Technology University

    Get PDF
The study aims to measure the effect of Task-based language teaching on grammatical achievement and the motivation of EFL learners at Dong Nai Technology University. The research will conduct a quick grammar test to administer 48 students at the school to achieve this goal. After sitting the test, the learners will undergo a 6-week course applying task-based language teaching. Before the treatment, one certified instructor-made grammar test about the learning units will be encompassed as the pre-test. Furthermore, a motivation questionnaire will be carried out in this group at the research's beginning and end. Afterward, the learners will learn through the treatment, which is learning through the implementation of Task-based language teaching. After six weeks of treatment, the group will take the same teacher-made grammar test as the post-test. After that, the writer will analyze the data through paired sample t-test. The results demonstrated a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test in the student’s performance on grammar acquisition and the enhancement in learners’ motivation. Based on the findings of this research, it is believed that task-based language teaching can be used in English classes to enhance learners’ grammar achievements and motivation among Vietnamese university learners

The purpose of this research is to find solutions to enhance the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises in the context of the Post-Covid-19 pandemic in Tra Vinh Province, Vietnam, by collecting secondary data from reports from Tra Vinh Provincial People’s Committee, Tra Vinh Department of Planning and Investment, and Tra Vinh Provincial Statistics Office in the period 2016-2020. The authors used descriptive statistics, synthesis, analysis, evaluation, and expert surveys to verify former hypotheses about small and medium-sized enterprises and search for feasible solutions to enhance the competitiveness of small and mediumsized enterprises in Tra Vinh Province. The study analyzed the situation of small and mediumsized enterprises during the period 2016–2019 regarding the actual operation status, advantages, and limitations in the competition of Small and Medium Enterprises in Tra Vinh, Vietnam. From the research findings, the study proposes solutions to improve competitive advantages for Small and Medium Enterprises in Tra Vinh in the post-Covid-19 pandemic future

Structure and Magnetic Properties of PZT/CoCr Heterostructures

    Get PDF
The microstructure, crystallographic structure and magnetic properties of ferroelectric-ferromagnetic PZT/CoCr heterostructures have been investigated by using XRD, SEM and VSM.~Upon applying an electric field, the in-plane magnetization of the heterostructures decreases at various bias magnetic fields. The change in magnetization and the magnetization reversed voltage were obtained. The results demonstrate that the change in magnetic anisotropy can be controlled by electric field via strain-mediated magnetoelectric coupling

Genetic Diversity and Population Structure of Canarium tramdenum Dai and Yakovl. in Northern Vietnam

Canarium tramdenum occurs naturally in subtropical and tropical regions of Indochina and China. The wood is used for making high quality furniture and the fruit and leaves are used in traditional medicine. However, a lack of information on genetic diversity and population structure has handicapped the genetic conservation and domestication of this high-value species. This study evaluated genetic variation within and among four C. tramdenum populations. Sixty individuals were collected from four natural populations in Vietnam in the provinces of Ninhbinh, Bacgiang, Nghean, and Backan. Genetic diversity and genetic structure were determined using 20 ISSR markers. A total of 192 DNA fragments with sizes ranging from 110 bp to 3,000 bp were detected, of which 154 segments (80.2%) were polymorphic and 38 segments (19.8%) were monomorphic. The ISSR data indicated a moderate degree of genetic diversity for the species (h = 0.252). The four populations were separated into three genetic clusters with low levels of genetic distance between them. AMOVA result showed that most (78%) of the genetic variation was within the populations. The moderate to high genetic diversity of C. tramdenum and the low genetic differentiation among populations suggested that all existing natural populations in the particular regions needed to be preserved to protect the genetic diversity of this species

MACRO-ZOOPLANKTON ABUNDANCE IN RELATION TO METAL ACCUMULATION AND WATER QUALITY IN TRUC BACH LAKE

Urban lake pollution is one of the serious issues due to suffering of waste discharged from householders. However, there is a gap of knowledge about the diversity of zooplankton species and how metals accumulate in zooplankton in urban ecosystems. We addressed this by determining the rule of blooming macro-zooplankton in Truc Bach lake and levels of two essential metals: copper (Cu), and zinc (Zn) and of three non-essential metals: arsenic (As), and lead (Pb) in water samples were determined. The results showed that Cladocerans and copepods are macro-zooplankton dominant species in Truc Bach Lake. Water temperature significantly affects the variety of copepod blooming. Arsenic concentration in water collected from the lake exceeded the safety level of current Vietnamese regulation. As concentration in macro-zooplankton positively correlated with metal concentrations in the water (p 0.05) while the concentration of Cu, Zn, and Pb in water has no significant correlation with the metal in zooplankton’s body. The relative abundance of adult copepods in Truc Bach lake had a negative correlation with As concentration in water (p = 0.01). The higher As concentration in water, the lower relative abundance of copepods was found in the sample

The purpose of the study was to have a comprehensive understanding of the existing conditions assured to give physical education (PE) programs to students at Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM). Through document synthesis, interviews, and statistical processing, the article gained a general evaluation of the current PE conditions according to the following aspects: facilities, administration, and curriculums. In terms of facilities, the total space for sports activities at VNUHCM is measured at 25,454m2, besides, the ratio of sports field area per student is 0.44m2/student. This indicates that VNUHCM’s students do not have enough space for their sports practice as standard. In terms of faculty, teachers at VNUHCM Sports Center are comprised 67.6% male, 88.2% at the age of thirty to fifty, and 100% holding postgraduate qualifications. In addition, 79.4% of the staff at the VNUHCM Sports Center graduated with PE specialized degrees, and 64.7% of them have less than five years of seniority. However, 68.8% of those who are currently delivering PE courses at this Center are visiting teachers. The statistic number reveals that the ratio of students per teacher at VNUHCM is 814.75 students/teacher, which reveals that the number of PE lecturers has not met the standard, and they have been in charge of a large teaching volume. In terms of curriculums, PE programs are conducted with 06 credits in total (90 periods), divided into 02 modules with 3 credits per each (45 periods). Students are allowed to choose their favorite PE content among 10 sports courses including football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, tennis, badminton, martial arts, aerobics, swimming, and chess. The results indicate that VNUHCM’s students actively participate in sports training and competitions to advance their physical fitness.  Article visualizations

The Temperature-sensitivity of a Critical Electric Field Induced Magnetic Easy-axis Reorientation Ferromagnetic/ferroelectric Layered Heterostructures

    Get PDF
We have investigated the effects of temperature on the magnetic easy axis reorientation (EARs) in polycrystalline ferromagnetic (FM) nano-scale thin films, i.e. (001)-oriented cubic films such as Fe, Ni, CFO and (0001)-oriented hexagonal films such as Co, grown on ferroelectric (FE) substrates, for example PZT, BTO substrates. The model of FM/FE bilayered heterostructures has been applied to study the total free energy of the FM films. By minimizing this energy, we have shown that temperature has a significant effect on a critical electric field induced magnetic reorientation
