Renormalizing Sznajd model on complex networks taking into account the effects of growth mechanisms
We present a renormalization approach to solve the Sznajd opinion formation
model on complex networks. For the case of two opinions, we present an
expression of the probability of reaching consensus for a given opinion as a
function of the initial fraction of agents with that opinion. The calculations
reproduce the sharp transition of the model on a fixed network, as well as the
recently observed smooth function for the model when simulated on a growing

H\"older mean applied to Anderson localization
The phase diagram of correlated, disordered electron systems is calculated
within dynamical mean-field theory using the H\"older mean local density of
states. A critical disorder strength is determined in the
Anderson-Falicov-Kimball model and the arithmetically and the geometrically
averages are found to be just particular means used respectively to detect or
not the Anderson localization. Correlated metal, Mott insulator and Anderson
insulator phases, as well as coexistence and crossover regimes are analyzed in

IDENTIFYING FREQUENT SEAFOOD PURCHASERS IN THE NORTHEASTERN U.S.
Factors affecting the frequency of purchase of fish and other seafood for at-home and restaurant consumption by Northeastern consumers were investigated. Cluster analysis identified six groups of consumers with similar perceptions of the attributes of fish. Demographic and cluster membership variables were employed in logistic regressions to identify the characteristics of frequent at-home use and restaurant purchasers. At-home purchase was more likely to be frequent among respondents with white collar occupations, older ages, urban/suburban and New England residence, recreational fishing participation, and membership in one of five attitudinal clusters. Restaurant purchase was more likely to be frequent among whites and among those with higher incomes, white collar occupations, recreational fishing involvement and among members of two clusters with favorable attitudes toward fish; it was less likely to be frequent in households with children age 10 and under present.Consumer/Household Economics,
Evolution of YidC/Oxa1/Alb3 insertases: three independent gene duplications followed by functional specialization in bacteria, mitochondria and chloroplasts
Members of the YidC/Oxa1/Alb3 protein family facilitate the insertion, folding and assembly of proteins of the inner membranes of bacteria and mitochondria and the thylakoid membrane of plastids. All homologs share a conserved hydrophobic core region comprising five transmembrane domains. On the basis of phylogenetic analyses, six subgroups of the family can be distinguished which presumably arose from three independent gene duplications followed by functional specialization. During evolution of bacteria, mitochondria and chloroplasts, subgroup-specific regions were added to the core domain to facilitate the association with ribosomes or other components contributing to the substrate spectrum of YidC/Oxa1/Alb3 proteins
CHRISTMAS TREE CONSUMPTION BEHAVIOR: NATURAL VS. ARTIFICIAL
Artificial Christmas trees have gained an increasing market share, causing concern to natural Christmas tree producers. Primary data was used to test a hypothesized sequential probit model of buyer characteristics. The model predicted the probability of using or displaying a Christmas tree, then if a use decision was made, the probability of displaying a natural tree. The people who are likely to display trees are Christian, practice other secular Christmas rituals, have children, and spend Christmas at home.
