    This study was aimed at determining peanut varieties that are tolerant to drought stress and assessing the effectiveness of the use of PEG 4000 as a media simulation to drought stress.  Experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial 4 x 4, repeated three times. First factor was variety, consisted of four levels, namely Tuban, Bima, Bison and Local Aceh. Second factor was PEG concentration, consisted of 4 levels, namely control, 3.5%, 11.6%, and 18.1%. Variables measured were maximum growth potential, germination rate, relative growth rate, vigor index, germination value, root length, hypocotyl length, and seedling dry weight.  The results showed that varieties exerted significant effects on maximum growth potential, germination rate, relative growth rate, root length, and hypocotyl length. PEG concentration exerted significant effects on maximum growth potential, germination rate, growth velocity, relative vigor index, germination value, root length, hypocotyl length, and seedling dry weight. There were interactions between varieties and PEG concentration on relative growth rate, root length, and hypocotyl length of groundnut seeds. Local variety of Aceh was recommended as a tolerant variety to drought stress.  Bison was not tolerant to drought stress.     Pengaruh Komposisi Media Tanam Dan Dosis Npk Terhadap Pertumbuhan Bibit Kopi Robusta (Coffea chanephora L.)

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh komposisi media tanam dan dosis NPK terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kopi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Gampong Lampanah Ranjo, Kecamatan Indrapuri Kabupaten Aceh Besar dari bulan Mei sampai bulan September 2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial 4 x 4 dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama yaitu komposisi media tanam (tanah : pupuk kandang) terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu kontrol (K0), 1:1 (K1), 1:2 (K2), 2:1 (K3) dan faktor kedua dosis NPK terdiri dari 4 taraf kontrol (N0), 1 g/polibag (N1), 1,5 g/polibag (N2), 2 g/polibag (N3). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji F, dilanjutkan dengan uji BNJ pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan komposisi media tanam berpengaruh sangat nyata pada parameter diameter batang 60, 90 hari setelah tanam (HST), bobot brangkasan kering dan volume akar  serta berpengaruh nyata pada parameter diameter batang 30 HST dan bobot brangkasan basah. Komposisi media tanam terbaik dijumpai pada komposisi media tanam dengan prbandingan tanah : pupuk kandang (2:1). Perlakuan dosis NPK berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap parameter tinggi bibit 30 HST, bobot brangkasan basah dan bobot brangkasan kering. Dosis NPK lebih baik dijumpai pada dosis NPK 1,5 g/polibag. Terdapat interaksi yang sangat nyata antara komposisi media tanam dan dosis NPK terhadap parameter diameter batang 30 HST dan bobot brangkasan basah serta berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter bobot brangkasan kering. Pertumbuhan bibit kopi terbaik dijumpai pada kombinasi komposisi media tanam 2:1 dengan dosis NPK 1,5 g/polibag. Kata kunci : Kopi, media tanam, pupu

    ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to examine seed viabilities of Arabica Coffee, variety Gayo 1 which was different in color of the fruits and in size of the seeds. The study was also aimed at examining interactions between fruit color and seed size on seed viabilities. Experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications.  Factors studied were 1) fruit color consisted of three levels, namely, bright red, dark red, and yellowish green and 2) seed size consisted of large seeds, medium, small. Results showed that fruit color significantly affected germination rate, seedling growth rate, prompt germination, the time required to reach 50% germination (T50) and dry weight of normal seedlings. Seed size significantly affected germination rate, seedling growth rate, prompt germination, T50, and dry weight of normal seedlings. The best viability was found in the seeds derived from bright red fruits and small sized seeds

    PERTUMBUHAN DAN PRODUKSI GALUR POTENSIAL PADI LOKAL ACEH CANTEK MANIS DAN SIPUTEH DI DESA SUKA MAKMUR

    Pertumbuhan dan produksi galur potensial padi lokal Aceh Cantek Manis dan Siputeh di Desa Suka Makmur di bawah bimbingan Trisda Kurniawan sebagai pembimbing ketua dan Agam Ihsan Hereri sebagai pembimbing anggota. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan produktis galur potensial hasil persilangan antara varietas lokal aceh dengan varietas padi introduksi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Suka Makmur, Kecamatan Lembah Seulawah, Kabupaten Aceh Besar, Provinsi Aceh, pada Bulan Juni sampai September 2014. Penelitian ini menggunakan satu varietas Ciherang dan lima galur potensial (S3, S5, S6, C3 dan C4). Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Lengkap (RAKL) nonfaktorial dengan 3 ulangan. Peubah yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan, umur berbunga, umur panen, persentase gabah bernas, persentase gabah hampa dan potensi hasil. Hasil penelitian varietas dan galur padi berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 minggu setelah tanam (MST) dan saat panen, umur berbunga, umur panen dan potensi hasil, berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada umur 7 MST, jumlah anakan pada umur 6 MST dan Persentase berat gabah hampa, tetapi berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap jumlah anakan umur 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 dan 7 MST, umur berbunga dan persentase berat gabah bernas. Pertumbuhan dan produksi galur potensial padi lokal Aceh Cantek Manis dan Siputeh lebih baik dibandingkan dengan verietas Ciherang, potensi hasil tertinggi didapatkan pada galur C3.Growth and production of potential local rice strains of Aceh Cantek Manis and Siputeh in Suka Makmur VillageGrowth and production of potential local rice strains of Aceh Cantek Manis and Siputeh in Suka Makmur Village under the guidance of Trisda Kurniawan as chairman and Agam Ihsan Hereri as member mentors. This study aims to determine the growth and product of potential strains of crosses between local varieties of aceh with introduced rice varieties. The study was conducted in Suka Makmur Village, Seulawah Valley sub District, Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province, from June to September 2014. This study used one Ciherang variety and five potential strains (S3, S5, S6, C3 and C4). This study used nonfactorial Completely Randomized Block design (RBD) with 3 replications. The variables observed were plant height, number of tillers, flowering age, harvest age, percentage of filled rice, percentage of empty grain and yield potential. The results of varieties and rice strains showed significant effect on plant height at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 weeks after planting (MST) and at harvest time, flowering age, harvest age and yield potential, significant effect on plant height at age 7 MST, the number of tillers at age 6 MST and percentage of weight of empty grain, but not significant effect on the number of tillers age 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 MST, flowering age and weight percentage of pithy rice. The growth and production of local rice strains of Aceh Cantek Manis and Siputeh are better than Ciherang verietas, the highest yield potential is found in the C3 strain

    Nutmegg Seed (Myristica fragrans HOUTT) Viability Scarification on Several Levels and The Concentration of Young Coconut Water.ABSTRACT. One of the efforts to eliminate the mechanical barrier is by scarification treatment (scrubbing) the seed that becomes a thin shell that easily enter the water and air. Besides the presence of growth regulators in seed also be an important factor for accelerating the growth of seedlings. The experimental design used in this research in Completely randomized design (CRD) 3x3 factorial with three replications. There are two factors studied, namely scarification percentage and the concentration of young coconut water. Increased nutmeg seed viability and seedling vigor due scarification treatment , except for potential growth. Scarification 100% gives the acceleration of growth was significantly different from the seed without scarification but not significantly different from the scarification 50%. Concentration of 100% coconut water could also accelerate the growth of normal seeds without significantly as compared with young coconut water immersion, but not significantly different from the concentration or 50% young coconut water. There were no significant interaction between treatments were tested on the viability and vigor of seed germinating of nutmeg

    Seed Viability and Form of Seedling Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) Condition Based on Moisture Media Planting and Deep SeededABSTRACT. Plant that have a high productivity has always started with the best planting material, both in the form of seeds or seedling. Agronomic inputs would be more optimal if the plants have optimum vigor. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of water on medium condition of seedlings and planting depth on seed viability and vigor of seedling of cacao. The result showed that the germination medium water conditions have no significant on all variables observed. While the depth of planting the seed in cultivation media has a very significant effect on potential germination, seedling vigor and dry weight, but no significant effect on height and weight of epicotyls weight wet. The best variables values found in the seeds are planted as deep as 4 cm from the surface of growing media. Besides seed viability and vigor of seedling planted at a depth indicated that different is not severely affected by the condition of water at planting media
