The Intentional Use of Service Recovery Strategies to Influence Consumer Emotion, Cognition and Behaviour

    Get PDF
Service recovery strategies have been identified as a critical factor in the success of. service organizations. This study develops a conceptual frame work to investigate how specific service recovery strategies influence the emotional, cognitive and negative behavioural responses of . consumers., as well as how emotion and cognition influence negative behavior. Understanding the impact of specific service recovery strategies will allow service providers' to more deliberately and intentionally engage in strategies that result in positive organizational outcomes. This study was conducted using a 2 x 2 between-subjects quasi-experimental design. The results suggest that service recovery has a significant impact on emotion, cognition and negative behavior. Similarly, satisfaction, negative emotion and positive emotion all influence negative behavior but distributive justice has no effect

Mechanical properties, microstructure and crystallographic texture of magnesium AZ91-D alloy welded by Friction Stir Welding (FSW)

The objective of the study was to characterize the properties of a magnesium alloy welded by friction stir welding (FSW). The results led to a better understanding of the relationship between this process and the microstructure and anisotropic properties of alloy materials. Welding principally leads to a large reduction in grain size in welded zones due to the phenomenon of dynamic recrystallization. The most remarkable observation was that crystallographic textures appeared from a base metal without texture in two zones: the thermo-mechanically affected and stir welded zones. The latter zone has the peculiarity of possessing a marked texture with two components on the basal plane and the pyramidal plane. These characteristics disappeared in the TMAZ, which had only one component following the basal plane. These modifications have been explained by the nature of the plastic deformation in these zones, which occurs at a moderate temperature in the TMAZ and high temperature in the SWZ

Comprehensive analysis of epigenetic clocks reveals associations between disproportionate biological ageing and hippocampal volume

The concept of age acceleration, the difference between biological age and chronological age, is of growing interest, particularly with respect to age-related disorders, such as Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). Whilst studies have reported associations with AD risk and related phenotypes, there remains a lack of consensus on these associations. Here we aimed to comprehensively investigate the relationship between five recognised measures of age acceleration, based on DNA methylation patterns (DNAm age), and cross-sectional and longitudinal cognition and AD-related neuroimaging phenotypes (volumetric MRI and Amyloid-β PET) in the Australian Imaging, Biomarkers and Lifestyle (AIBL) and the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI). Significant associations were observed between age acceleration using the Hannum epigenetic clock and cross-sectional hippocampal volume in AIBL and replicated in ADNI. In AIBL, several other findings were observed cross-sectionally, including a significant association between hippocampal volume and the Hannum and Phenoage epigenetic clocks. Further, significant associations were also observed between hippocampal volume and the Zhang and Phenoage epigenetic clocks within Amyloid-β positive individuals. However, these were not validated within the ADNI cohort. No associations between age acceleration and other Alzheimer’s disease-related phenotypes, including measures of cognition or brain Amyloid-β burden, were observed, and there was no association with longitudinal change in any phenotype. This study presents a link between age acceleration, as determined using DNA methylation, and hippocampal volume that was statistically significant across two highly characterised cohorts. The results presented in this study contribute to a growing literature that supports the role of epigenetic modifications in ageing and AD-related phenotypes

Collective Security Efficacy and Group Security Compliance

    No full text
This paper aims to investigate the antecedents of collective security efficacy and its impact on group security compliance. Prior studies have mainly examined individual security compliance and have indicated that technology-based solutions are not able to eliminate the information security risks that organizations may face since many security related defenses are achieved only through human compliance. However, group level phenomena have been overlooked in research. This paper examines the group phenomena through the lens of collective efficacy. By examining collective efficacy, we expect to understand how group security compliance can be more effective, employee’s deviant behavior can be suppressed, and group cohesiveness toward security issues can be reinforced

An Exploration of the Impact of Information Privacy Invasion

Even though information privacy literature has been studying the negative influence of privacy concerns on personal information disclosure, the issue is more complex because often the actual behavior of the individual does not reflect the influence. However, limited explanations have been directed toward examining the contradictory phenomenon between privacy concerns and various subsequent behaviors, the so called privacy paradox. Given this apparent gap, a grounded theory approach is undertaken herein, to improve our understanding of the privacy paradox mechanism and other issues with regard to information privacy. The results of this study suggest that prior experiences of individuals with privacy invasion without actual losses decrease the perceived likelihood of actual loss. Further, privacy concerns impact the perceived likelihood of actual loss. Other factors, such as privacy protective efficacy, privacy apathy, etc, that are related to the inherent role of privacy concerns in behavior are also discussed in the study

Role of Trust in Privacy Assurance and Perceived Disease Severity on Personal Health Information Disclosure

The benefits of digitization of personal health information have been identified in many studies (Anderson and Agarwal 2011; Glaser et al. 2008; Noffsinger and Chin 2000). The studies suggest that such digitization can reduce medical errors and costs, improve patient safety and public health monitoring efficiency, and etc. However, the impact of healthcare privacy breaches on behavioral reactions is not well known although this phenomenon is an important source of healthcare privacy concern. Hence, this study attempts to examine the influence of healthcare privacy breach on health information disclosure, and the moderating role of trust in privacy assurance and perceived disease severity in healthcare privacy invasion context. To achieve these goals, we adopt communication privacy management theory, and privacy calculus. A scenario-based survey method is employed to explore the influence of privacy breaches. Several theoretical contributions and managerial implications are discussed
