Dynamics-dependent criticality in models with q absorbing states
We study a one-dimensional, nonequilibrium Potts-like model which has
symmetric absorbing states. For , as expected, the model belongs to the
parity conserving universality class. For the critical behaviour depends
on the dynamics of the model. Under a certain dynamics it remains generically
in the active phase, which is also the feature of some other models with three
absorbing states. However, a modified dynamics induces a parity conserving
phase transition. Relations with branching-annihilating random walk models are

Branching and annihilating Levy flights
We consider a system of particles undergoing the branching and annihilating
reactions A -> (m+1)A and A + A -> 0, with m even. The particles move via
long-range Levy flights, where the probability of moving a distance r decays as
r^{-d-sigma}. We analyze this system of branching and annihilating Levy flights
(BALF) using field theoretic renormalization group techniques close to the
upper critical dimension d_c=sigma, with sigma<2. These results are then
compared with Monte-Carlo simulations in d=1. For sigma close to unity in d=1,
the critical point for the transition from an absorbing to an active phase
occurs at zero branching. However, for sigma bigger than about 3/2 in d=1, the
critical branching rate moves smoothly away from zero with increasing sigma,
and the transition lies in a different universality class, inaccessible to
controlled perturbative expansions. We measure the exponents in both
universality classes and examine their behavior as a function of sigma.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure
Phase diagram of a probabilistic cellular automaton with three-site interactions
We study a (1+1) dimensional probabilistic cellular automaton that is closely
related to the Domany-Kinzel (DKCA), but in which the update of a given site
depends on the state of {\it three} sites at the previous time step. Thus,
compared with the DKCA, there is an additional parameter, , representing
the probability for a site to be active at time , given that its nearest
neighbors and itself were active at time . We study phase transitions and
critical behavior for the activity {\it and} for damage spreading, using one-
and two-site mean-field approximations, and simulations, for and
. We find evidence for a line of tricritical points in the () parameter space, obtained using a mean-field approximation at pair level.
To construct the phase diagram in simulations we employ the growth-exponent
method in an interface representation. For , the phase diagram is
similar to the DKCA, but the damage spreading transition exhibits a reentrant
phase. For , the growth-exponent method reproduces the two absorbing
states, first and second-order phase transitions, bicritical point, and damage
spreading transition recently identified by Bagnoli {\it et al.} [Phys. Rev.

Novel universality class of absorbing transitions with continuously varying critical exponents
The well-established universality classes of absorbing critical phenomena are
directed percolation (DP) and directed Ising (DI) classes. Recently, the pair
contact process with diffusion (PCPD) has been investigated extensively and
claimed to exhibit a new type of critical phenomena distinct from both DP and
DI classes. Noticing that the PCPD possesses a long-term memory effect, we
introduce a generalized version of the PCPD (GPCPD) with a parameter
controlling the memory effect. The GPCPD connects the DP fixed point to the
PCPD point continuously. Monte Carlo simulations show that the GPCPD displays
novel type critical phenomena which are characterized by continuously varying
critical exponents. The same critical behaviors are also observed in models
where two species of particles are coupled cyclically. We suggest that the
long-term memory may serve as a marginal perturbation to the ordinary DP fixed

Precise measurement of hadronic tau-decays with an eta meson
We have studied hadronic tau decay modes involving an eta meson using 490
fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy
e+e- collider. The following branching fractions have been measured: B(tau- ->
K- eta nu)=(1.58 +- 0.05 +- 0.09)x 10^{-4}, B(tau- -> K- pi0 eta nu)=(4.6 +-
1.1 +- 0.4)x 10^{-5}, B(tau- -> pi- pi0 eta nu)=(1.35 +- 0.03 +- 0.07)x
10^{-3}, B(tau- -> pi- KS eta nu)=(4.4 +- 0.7 +- 0.2)x 10^{-5}, and B(tau- ->
K^{*-} eta nu)=(1.34 +- 0.12 +- 0.09)x 10^{-4}. These results are substantially
more precise than previous measurements. The new measurements are compared with
theoretical calculations based on the CVC hypothesis or the chiral perturbation
theory. We also set upper limits on branching fractions for tau decays into K-
KS eta nu, pi- KS pi0 eta nu, K- eta eta nu, pi- eta eta nu and non-resonant K-

Search for B+ -> D*+ pi0 decay
We report on a search for the doubly Cabibbo suppressed decay B+ -> D*+ pi0,
based on a data sample of 657 million BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S)
resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e+ e- collider.
We find no significant signal and set an upper limit of Br(B+ -> D*+ pi0) < 3.6
x 10^-6 at the 90% confidence level. This limit can be used to constrain the
ratio between suppressed and favored B -> D* pi decay amplitudes, r < 0.051, at

Observation of the and the Y(2175) in
The cross sections for and e^+ e^- \to \phi
\fzero are measured from threshold to using
initial state radiation. The analysis is based on a data sample of 673
fb collected on and below the resonance with the Belle
detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy collider. First measurements
are reported for the resonance parameters of the in the
mode: MeV/ and MeV/. A structure at ,
corresponding to the so called Y(2175), is observed; its mass and width are

Search for the Electric Dipole Moment of the tau Lepton
We have searched for a CP violation signature arising from an electric dipole
moment (d_tau) of the tau lepton in the e+e- -> tau+tau- reaction. Using an
optimal observable method and 29.5 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle
detector at the KEKB collider at sqrt{s} = 10.58 GeV, we find Re(d_tau) = (1.15
+- 1.70) x 10^{-17} ecm and Im(d_tau) = (-0.83 +- 0.86) x 10^{-17} ecm and set
the 95% confidence level limits -2.2 < Re(d_tau) < 4.5 (10^{-17}ecm) and -2.5 <

Measurement of CP asymmetry in Cabibbo suppressed D0 decays
We measure the CP-violating asymmetries in decays to the D0 -> K+K- and D0 ->
pi+pi- CP eigenstates using 540 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle
detector at or near the Upsilon(4S) resonance. Cabibbo-favored D0 -> K-pi+
decays are used to correct for systematic detector effects. The results,
A_{CP}^{KK} = (-0.43 +- 0.30 +- 0.11)% and A_{CP}^{pipi} = (+0.43 +- 0.52 +-
0.12)%, are consistent with no CP violation.Comment: Submitted to Phys. Lett.

We report on a study of decays using
29.1 fb of annihilation data recorded at the
resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB storage ring. Making no
assumptions about the intermediate mechanism, the branching fractions for
and are
determined to be and respectively. An analysis of candidates yields to the first observation of the color-suppressed
hadronic decay with the branching fraction . We measure the ratio of branching fractions
