On Darboux transformation of the supersymmetric sine-Gordon equation

    Get PDF
Darboux transformation is constructed for superfields of the super sine-Gordon equation and the superfields of the associated linear problem. The Darboux transformation is shown to be related to the super B\"{a}cklund transformation and is further used to obtain NN super soliton solutions.Comment: 9 Page

    Get PDF
Background: Chlamydia trachomatis is one of the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection worldwide. Objective was to find the seroprevalence of the Chlamydia trachomatis infection in women who suffer from infertility, mucopurulent cervicitis and ectopic pregnancy and to investigate the possible role of the chlamydial serology as a screening test by detection of the anti-Chlamydia IgG antibodies using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Methods: 160 women who attended the gynecology outpatient department (OPD) at a tertiary care hospital were screened for presence of chlamydia trachomatis IgG antibodies. Patients were categorized based on clinical diagnosis in: group I comprising of 120 patients [40 patients in each sub group - mucopurulent cervicitis (MPC); infertility; and ectopic pregnancy]; and group II comprising fertile women with no clinical signs and symptoms of mucopurulent cervicitis and no history of ectopic pregnancy and infertility. Patients were screened for IgG antibodies to Chlamydia trachomatis. Results: In our study 32.5% women with mucopurulent cervicitis were positive for Chlamydia trachomatis immunoglobulin G (CT IgG). In the infertile group, 22.5% of women were positive for chlamydia IgG antibodies. 30% of ectopic pregnancies were positive for chlamydia trachomatis IgG. Out of 40 patients who were taken as controls, 7.5% screened positive for Chlamydia IgG antibodies. Seroprevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis was 23.12% in our study. Conclusions: Our study has shown that significant proportion of our population harbor Chlamydia trachomatis. So, it becomes imperative that health and screening programs be employed to prevent spread of this infection and its long term sequelae in women of childbearing age

Perspective of agricultural extension in livestock production in Kaduna state

The study was conducted to ascertain the perspective of extension in livestock production in Makarfi, Ikara and Kudan Local Government Areas of Kaduna State. Purposive sampling was used to select wards, multi–stage sampling was adopted to choose villages and simple random sampling to pick 240 responding farmers. Majority of the producers were between 21-40 years of age, literate, married with the mean years of experience of 12 years and mostly non-members of cooperative societies. The main source of extension services was the private sector and the services rendered were educational, health, technical, management and marketing. The extension communication methods used were visits, demonstration, workshop, training and excursion. The benefits of extension services were introduction of livestock species, marketing information, feed and feed ingredient supply, disease and pest control, and liaison services. Constraints to the use of extension services in livestock production were insufficient fund, ineffective research extension linkage, poor veterinary services, shortage of feed and grazing land and the attitude of the producers towards extension services. Keywords: Agricultural extension, Livestock, Production, Purposive samplin

Color Portion of Solar Radiation in the Partial Annular Solar Eclipse, October 3rd, 2005, at Helwan, Egypt

    Get PDF
Measurements were made of various solar radiation components, global, direct and diffuse and their fractions during the partial annular solar eclipse on October 3rd, 2005 at Helwan, Egypt (Lat. 29.866◩ N and Long. 31.20◩ E), and an analysis has been made. The duration of the solar eclipse was 3 h 17 min, and the maximum magnitude of the eclipse in this region was 0.65. The optical depth of the direct component and the relative humidity decreased, while both the transparency and the air temperature increased towards the maximum eclipse. The general trends of the global components are decreasing optical depth and increasing transparency between the first contact and the last contact. The prevailing color during the eclipse duration was diffused infrared (77 % of the total diffuse radiation level)

Lax pair and Darboux transformation of noncommutative U(N) principal chiral model

    Get PDF
We present a noncommutative generalization of Lax formalism of U(N) principal chiral model in terms of a one-parameter family of flat connections. The Lax formalism is further used to derive a set of parametric noncommutative B\"{a}cklund transformation and an infinite set of conserved quantities. From the Lax pair, we derive a noncommutative version of the Darboux transformation of the model.Comment: 1+20 page

Properties of bitumen modified with latex under short-term ageing

    Get PDF
Short-term ageing is a common issue in bitumen mixing production, and it severely affects the physical, rheological and chemical properties of the bitumen. Polymer modified bitumen is regarded as a preferable paving material to improve the performance of asphalt pavement against binder ageing. One of the additive types used to innovate modified bitumen is natural rubber (latex). This study evaluated the physical properties of bitumen modified with latex under ageing condition. Different percentages of latex (i.e. 2.5%, 5.0%, 7.5% and 10.0%) were added to the control 60/70 penetration grade (PEN) bitumen, which was then tested for penetration, softening point, viscosity, loss on heating and storage stability. The bitumen samples were conditioned under short-term ageing (i.e. rolling thin-film oven) prior to performance tests. Results indicated that modifying bitumen with latex hardens the conventional bitumen 60/70 PEN and potentially improves the bitumen's resistance against temperature susceptibility with a high value of softening point. The addition of latex up to 10% produces a homogenous blend even after short-term ageing condition

Seed priming with different agents mitigate alkalinity induced oxidative damage and improves maize growth

    Get PDF
Soil alkalinity is a severe threat to crop production globally as it markedly retards plant growth. Different techniques are used to mitigate alkaline stress, but priming techniques are considered the most appropriate. The current study was carried out in complete randomized design (CRD) to evaluate the effect of different priming techniques on maize crop grown under different levels of alkalinity stress. The experiment was comprised of different treatments of alkalinity stress (AS) including, control, 6 dS m-1 and 12 dS m-1 and different priming techniques including control, hydro-priming (HP), osmo-priming (OP) with potassium nitrate: KNO3) and redox-priming (RP) with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Results indicated that alkalinity stress significantly reduced plant growth and biomass production and induced severe alterations in physiological attributes and antioxidant activities. Soil alkalinity significantly reduced the root and shoot growth and subsequent biomass production by increasing electrolyte leakage (70.60%), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2: 31.65%), malondialdehyde (MDA: 46.23%) and sodium (Na+) accumulation (22.76%) and reduction in photosynthetic pigments, relative water contents (RWC), total soluble proteins (TSP) and free amino acids, potassium (K+) accumulation. However, priming treatments significantly alleviated the alkalinity-induced toxic effects and improved plant growth. OP (KNO3) remained the top performing. It appreciably improved plant growth owing to the improved synthesis of photosynthetic pigments, better RWC (16.42%), TSP (138.28%), FAA (178.37%), and K+ accumulation (31.385) and improved antioxidant activities (APX and CAT) by favoring the Na+ exclusion and maintenance of optimum Na+/K+. In conclusion, KNO3 priming is an imperative seed priming practice to improve maize growth and biomass production under alkalinity stress
