Probing New Physics using top quark polarization in the e+e- -> t \bar{t} process at future Linear Colliders

We investigate the sensitivity to new physics of the process e+e- -> t bar{t} when the top polarization is analyzed using leptonic final states e+e- -> t \bar{t} -> l+l- b \bar{b} nu_l \bar{nu}_l. We first show that the kinematical reconstruction of the complete kinematics is experimentally tractable for this process. Then we apply the matrix element method to study the sensitivity to the Vt\bar{t} coupling (V being a vector gauge boson), at the tree level and in the narrow width approximation. Assuming the ILC baseline configuration, sqrt{S}=500 GeV, and a luminosity of 500 fb^{-1}, we conclude that this optimal analysis allows to determine simultaneously the ten form factors that parameterize the Vt\bar{t} coupling, below the percent level. We also discuss the effects of the next leading order (NLO) electroweak corrections using the GRACE program with polarized beams. Propositional Encoding of Constraints over Tree-Shaped Data

We present a functional programming language for specifying constraints over tree-shaped data. The language allows for Haskell-like algebraic data types and pattern matching. Our constraint compiler CO4 translates these programs into satisfiability problems in propositional logic. Automatic Computation of Cross Sections in HEP

For the study of reactions in High Energy Physics (HEP) automatic computation systems have been developed and are widely used nowadays. GRACE is one of such systems and it has achieved much success in analyzing experimental data. Since we deal with the cross section whose value can be given by calculating hundreds of Feynman diagrams, we manage the large scale calculation, so that effective symbolic manipulation, the treat of singularity in the numerical integration are required. Faixas de suficiência para teores foliares de nutrientes em algodão e em soja, definidas em função de índices DRIS.

A diagnose dos estados nutricionais do algodoeiro e da soja, pelo método de níveis críticos, tem-se embasado em faixas de suficiência estabelecidas há muitos anos, com pequenas adequações no período. Contudo, considerando-se que os teores foliares podem variar, dentre outros fatores, em função do tipo de amostra coletada e do potencial produtivo da cultura, torna-se importante a definição de valores de referência regionais. Este trabalho teve como objetivo estabelecer os teores adequados de nutrientes para algodoeiro e soja, por meio do ajuste de modelos de regressão para o teor foliar em função do índice de equilíbrio nutricional definido pelo Sistema Integrado de Diagnose e Recomendação (DRIS). Utilizou-se um banco de dados, constituído das produtividades e dos teores de nutrientes em amostras foliares de ambas as espécies, coletadas em talhões de lavouras comerciais e em parcelas experimentais, em Mato Grosso do Sul e Mato Grosso. Foram obtidas faixas de suficiência para as folhas índice de algodoeiro (quinta folha totalmente formada, a partir do ápice) e de soja (terceiro trifólio sem e com pecíolo), com amplitude menor do que aquela estabelecida na literatura para estas culturas. Especificamente, para a soja, confirmou-se a existência de diferenças nos valores de referência em função do tipo de folha índice amostrado. Amostras de folha índice sem pecíolo produzem teores significativamente maiores de N, P, B, Fe, Mn e Zn e menores de K, em relação aos das amostras com pecíolo. A desconsideração do modo de amostragem pode induzir a falsos diagnósticos de deficiências ou excessos nutricionais

Efficient, XOR-Based, Ideal (t,n)− threshold Schemes

We propose a new, lightweight (t; n) threshold secret shar- ing scheme that can be implemented using only XOR operations. Our scheme is based on an idea extracted from a patent application by Hewlett Packard that utilises error correction codes. Our scheme im- proves on the patent by requiring fewer randomly generated bits and by reducing the size of shares given to each player, thereby making the scheme ideal. We provide a security proof and e ciency analysis. We compare our scheme to existing schemes in the literature and show that our scheme is more e cient than other schemes, especially when t is large
