the role of shock waves in modulation of galactic cosmic rays
The understanding of modulation of the galactic cosmic rays has considerably progressed by the exploration by space probes of major heliospheric structures, such as the Corotating Interaction Regions, the neutral sheet, and the compression regions of intense heliospheric magnetic fields. Also relevant in this context were the detections in the outer heliosphere of long lasting Forbush type decreases of cosmic ray intensity. The results of recent theoretical studies on the changes in intensity and energy, at different location from the Sun, induced by the passage of shocks across the heliosphere are presented. In this version of the research, the simplest cases of modulation of uGV and 2GV particles by single or several shocks during periods of positive and negative solar field polarity are reviewed. The results of the theoretical aspects of the search is reported. The comparison of the theoretical predictions with space probe data allows conclusions to be drawn on the role of shocks on the modulation on both the 11 and 22 year galactic cosmic ray cycles in the outer heliosphere and on the plausibility of the models and parameters used
Jets and Jet Multiplicities in High Energy Photon-Nucleon Inetraction:
We discuss the theory of jet events in high-energy photon-proton interactions
using a model which gives a good description of the data available on total
inelastic cross sections up to =210 GeV. We show how to
calculate the jet cross sections and jet multiplicities and give predictions
for these quantities for energies appropriate for experiments at the HERA

Restoring the public service ideal: Creating a climate for public service
The purpose of this study is to explore whether public service motivation can be considered a work-unit or organizational-level construct. I posit that a climate of public service motivation can be created by: 1) leaders who model the ideals of public service, 2) agency employees seeing the meaningfulness of their work; and 3) when employees perceive that the agency has a good external reputation. Further, this study examines whether public service motivation, at either the group or individual level, will mediate meaningfulness and perceived external image to important outcomes that impact employee retention, namely organizational commitment and organizational identification. I will test this theory by sampling employees from a large state agency and nonprofit behavioral health organization
Fixed Point and Aperiodic Tilings
An aperiodic tile set was first constructed by R.Berger while proving the
undecidability of the domino problem. It turned out that aperiodic tile sets
appear in many topics ranging from logic (the Entscheidungsproblem) to physics
(quasicrystals) We present a new construction of an aperiodic tile set that is
based on Kleene's fixed-point construction instead of geometric arguments. This
construction is similar to J. von Neumann self-reproducing automata; similar
ideas were also used by P. Gacs in the context of error-correcting
computations. The flexibility of this construction allows us to construct a
"robust" aperiodic tile set that does not have periodic (or close to periodic)
tilings even if we allow some (sparse enough) tiling errors. This property was

Parametrised Complexity of Model Checking and Satisfiability in Propositional Dependence Logic
In this paper, we initiate a systematic study of the parametrised complexity
in the field of Dependence Logics which finds its origin in the Dependence
Logic of V\"a\"an\"anen from 2007. We study a propositional variant of this
logic (PDL) and investigate a variety of parametrisations with respect to the
central decision problems. The model checking problem (MC) of PDL is
NP-complete. The subject of this research is to identify a list of
parametrisations (formula-size, treewidth, treedepth, team-size, number of
variables) under which MC becomes fixed-parameter tractable. Furthermore, we
show that the number of disjunctions or the arity of dependence atoms
(dep-arity) as a parameter both yield a paraNP-completeness result. Then, we
consider the satisfiability problem (SAT) showing a different picture: under
team-size, or dep-arity SAT is paraNP-complete whereas under all other
mentioned parameters the problem is in FPT. Finally, we introduce a variant of
the satisfiability problem, asking for teams of a given size, and show for this
problem an almost complete picture.Comment: Update includes refined result
A Two-Pressure Humidity Generator
A device for precisely humidifying a process gas is presented, with particular application to document preservation. The machine is designed to minimize the risk of damage from overpressure by incorporating multiple safety mechanisms and a simple user interface. The design theory is presented, discussed, and verified. This device is capable of generating humidified gases with relative humidities between 7 and 96 to high accuracy. At conditions suitable for document preservation, the machine is accurate to within 3.5 %, generating a relative humidity of (40 1.4)
