Electrical and Thermal Behavior of Copper-Epoxy Nanocomposites Prepared via Aqueous to Organic Phase Transfer Technique

    Get PDF
The preparation, electrical, and thermal behaviors of copper-epoxy nanocomposites are described. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide- (CTAB-) stabilized copper (Cu) particles were synthesized via phase transfer technique. Isopropanol (IPA), sodium borohydride (NaBH4), and toluene solution of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) were used as transferring, reducing agent, and the organic phase, respectively. The UV-Vis absorbance spectra of all the sols prepared indicate that the presence of Cu particles with the particles transfer efficiency is ≥97%. The amount, size, and size distribution of particles in the organosol were dependent on the content of organic solute in the organosol. The composites were obtained upon drying the organosols and these were then subjected to further studies on the curing, thermal, and electrical characteristic. The presence of Cu fillers does not significantly affect the completeness of the composite curing process and only slightly reduce the thermal stability of the composites that is >300◦C. The highest conductivity value of the composites obtained is 3.06 × 10−2 S cm−1

Development of PAN (personal area network) for Mobile Robot Using Bluetooth Transceiver

    Get PDF
In recent years, wireless applications using radio frequency (RF) have been rapidly evolving in personal computing and communications devices. Bluetooth technology was created to replace the cables used on mobile devices. Bluetooth is an open specification and encompasses a simple low-cost, low power solution for integration into devices. This research work aim was to provide a PAN (personal area network) for computer based mobile robot that supports real-time control of four mobile robots from a host mobile robot. With ad hoc topology, mobile robots may request and establish a connection when it is within the range or terminated the connection when it leaves the area. A system that contains both hardware and software is designed to enable the robots to participate in multi-agent robotics system (MARS). Computer based mobile robot provide operating system that enabled development of wireless connection via IP address

Preliminary analysis of “The Effectiveness of using Virtual Reality approach in Electromagnetic Theory Subject Courseware” in MTUN.

This paper is about the study of applying a virtual reality approaches on studying electromagnetic theory. It will examine the effectiveness of this approach in the field of education as some subject need high imagination to understand. This topic has cover about the surface of 3D environment and the usage plus the impact of the virtual reality approaches in this project. It also explains about the problem that has been found until the development of the courseware with virtual reality approach. This project focus for students and lecturers guideline, and will exposed them to the used of ICT and multimedia tool in learning as one of the teaching tool. Data have been collected by using questionnaire method, which four Malaysia technical universities have been chosen to prove that Electromagnetic Theory (EMT) subject is the hardest subject in engineering field as it is the fundamental subject for future engineer. At first, 16 objectives question have been given to 10% student those have took the subject before for each universities. These questions are to test their understanding about EMT subject, as before they were using traditional approach in their study. All questions are from four subtopic in the EMT subject, which are Vector calculus, Electrostatic, Magnetostatic, and Wave application. Each subtopic contains four questions. Then analysis have been done to check the most hardest subtopic so that it will be chosen as a main subtopic that will be focus on, which 3D and Virtual reality approach will be applied on it. It is believe that the effectiveness of these approaches can be seen if the method applies in the hardest part gives positives results. Not only survey on students have been done, but also to the lecturer’s and as a same method, 10 % of survey from lecturers that teach EMT subject in all Malaysia Technical Universities have been taken, and analysis have been done, as a result most lecturers agreed if 3D and Virtual reality approaches applied in studying the subject to make students easily understand about the subject as this subject need high imagination. This paper presents a summary of the experimental assessment process and findings regarding the educational value of the multimedia courseware with three dimensional and virtual reality approaches applied

Automated pH Regulator For Freshwater Prawn With Analog pH Meter Pro

In Malaysia, farmers faced the problems of prawn diseases which cause billions of USD in damage, along with the loss of prawn production. Farmers begin to wipe out from the prawn industry and investors are unwilling to finance prawn production. There will be a risk that it will decrease the productivity of Malaysia's prawn production due to the prawn affected by diseases. Research shows that an uncontrolled pH level in the prawn tank causes the prawn to be stressed and lower the prawn immunity system. As a result, diseases such as Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS), White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV), and Taura syndrome virus (TSV) can easily attack the prawn.  The existing water quality monitoring system lacks a complete solution from monitoring the pH level until autonomous remedial action is taken to control the pH level. When developing the system, no autonomous remedial action being taken to control when the pH level is out of range. Automated pH Regulator For Freshwater Prawn with Analog pH Meter Pro help farmers to monitor and control pH level in prawn tank. Logged data is stored in a personal computer for reference to prawn health. This paper proposes a conceptual framework with three (3) stages that consist of monitoring pH level with threshold data to determine pH level, provide autonomous remedial action to control the pH level in prawn tank, and logged data into a personal computer for reference. By having an Automated pH Regulator For Freshwater Prawn with Analog pH Meter Pro, immediate action can be carried out to save the prawn's life from diseases

Corporate Identity Management (CIM) Model in Malaysian Higher Education Sector: Literature Review and Hypothesis Development

    Get PDF
Corporate Identity Management (CIM) in universities has been acknowledged in marketing literature as an important area of research. Research within the current spectrum of CIM indicates some ambiguities surrounding corporate identity in higher education. However, very few studies are available in the field of corporate identity within universities. Accordingly, the objective of this study is to examine the relationships between university’s CIM and organizational performance, and also identify the relevant underlying mechanisms in Malaysian higher-education sector. Based on a review of the existing literature in a range of areas, this study proposes a conceptual model of the positive relationships between CIM activities in universities with internal brand, transformational leadership and organisational culture. The proposed conceptual model is developed based on three main theories--social identification theory, transformational leadership theory and social learning theory

A decentralized proportional-integral sliding mode tracking controller for a 2 D.O.F robot arm

Trajectory tracking with high accuracy is a very challenging topic in direct drive robot control. This is due to the nonlinearities and input couplings present in the dynamics of the arm. This paper deals with the tracking control of a class of direct-drive robot manipulators. A robust Proportional-Integral (PI) sliding mode control law is derived so that the robot trajectory tracks a desired trajectory as closely as possible despite the highly non-linear and coupled dynamics. The controller is designed using the decentralized approaches. Application to a two degree of freedom direct drive robot arm is considered
